Analysis of our survey
Question 1
This shows that our
audience of
people aged between 16-20
prefer adults to be the
antagonist. We will apply
this to our film as we will use
a tall character for our
antagonist – this will make
them look older. We will also
check that the actor looks
older then they are resulting
in them looking like an adult.
This is the analysis of our survey results we have took screen shots of the
survey so that we can use this for our analysis and can see comments
underneath if there are any. We have also created pie charts so that the data
is shown in another way and it makes it clearer for us to use.
Question 2
These results show that 60% prefer
the adult antagonist to be male. This
is because they think ‘women are
meant to be kind and caring’. We
know this because someone wrote it
into the comment box. This has
helped us decide who will be the
antagonist as we now know what
are audience wants to see from an
antagonist. Which is a male adult.
Question 3
These answers are close as there’s only 10% in
them. 55% decided boy and 45% decided girl.
This is different to the adults results which is
interesting as you would initially think that it
would be the same.
However the comment that the person has left
is helpful as we can begin to understand why
they choose child. If we wanted to create a plot
twist we now know what to do as they have told
us what they want to see.
Question 4
This has helped us decide what type of
music to use. The comment ‘other one is
depressing’ shows that the music upsets
the audience. We want the audience to be
scared and on the edge of their seat not
depressed as the film we are filming is
horror.
Question 5
These results show that the
antagonist is preferred to be
alive and not dead. There are
no comments on this
question so we don’t
understand why the audience
would want the the
antagonist to be alive.
However we can go on
intuition and suggest it is
because if the antagonist is
alive they create realism and
tension whereas if the
antagonist is dead it can
create the idea of being fake.
Also if the antagonist is alive
they can do more damage,
for example the Chainsaw
Massacre.
Question 6
These answers are really helpful because
everyone who answered wants the same
thing. This is easier for us because we know
that if we hide the antagonists identity until
the end all of the audience will be happy and
enjoy the film. We will hide the identity
through using shots that are taken behind
the antagonist or that hide the antagonists
face if the shot is from the front. We will also
put the antagonist in dark clothing so that
they are hidden within the location.
Question 7
These results show that our
audience prefer to see the
protagonist as an adult and not a
child. However the comment
‘scares the audience more and tugs
at heart strings if child is in danger’
is interesting because it gives us an
idea of why people chose to answer
with child. We have used this
information in our film as we have
decided to use an adult for the
protagonist as this is what our
audience wants to see.
Question 8
These results show that
majority of the audience wants
to see a relatable location
within the film. This could be
because it can create more
tension and maybe horror. In
our film we have decided to
use a house which is relatable
and also a forest which could
be relatable to some people
and maybe not others.
Question 9
Film one was the opening
titles of Saw 1 and the
second film was the opening
titles of The Silence Of The
Lambs. These results show
that the audience preferred
Saw 1 titles. However
because there are no
comments we are unsure
why they prefer them. By
using our own initiative we
can guess that it is because
the Silence of the lambs
titles are bold and not very
interesting whereas the Saw
titles are.1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA

Question 10
These results show that the
audience like horror films to
have a lot of violence within
them, however some people
are sensitive to who it is
towards therefore we have
decided to do one violent part
towards a women. However
we are unsure on the weapon
used at the moment.
