Target Audience Questionnaire
Evaluation
Question 1; How old are you?
As the majority of the participants
were between 16-21 it shows that
our target audience is between
these ages. This gives us the
impression that the older and
younger age groups have very
little interest in this genre of horror.
This means our horror movie
opening will have to satisfy to this
age group.
Question 2; What is you
gender?
The results show that women
our more interested into our
horror film opening than males.
This could suggest that like in
horror films there's always a
‘last girl standing’ and therefore
girls could relate to them more
as they would have more in
common than a male.
Question 3; What is your biggest fear?
From the results it shows that death (11) and clowns (10) appear to be the
biggest fears. As we want the audience to be scared as this is the main point
of horror films however we also want the audience to enjoy. Therefore we
are going to include death and clowns but not over the top so people will still
enjoy the film and want to continue watching it.
Question 4; What colours do you like in
horror films?
The results can show that the three
colours people often like to see in horror
films are grey, white and red. These are
conventional colours that are used in
horror films and this result can help us to
ensure that when we come to creating our
final piece we include the colours that our
target audience prefers.
Question 5; What Components of horror
scare you the most?
This question was relevant to our survey
as it gives us a clear idea of what our
target audience wants, as well as this it is
conventional in horror films to include
some of these components hence we
needed to assess what our audience
would prefer. As evident from the results
the main component of horror that scares
people the most is darkness, this is
followed by religion and thriller. Keeping
these in mind we would need to include a
coalition of these in our final piece.
Question 6; What’s your favourite
location?
Location is very important, as it gives
understanding of where the horror film is
based. It can set the tone and atmosphere
of the whole horror film. From our results
our popular location choices are a church
and a forest, hence linking these together
we can create an effective location that
would draw our target audience in and
make it appealing.
Question 7; What’s your favourite horror
movie genre?
Horror movie genre is another important
question that needs to be asked in order
for the target audience to be decided.
Having a specific horror genre is important
as it narrows down what we can base our
final piece on so that it is appealing. Again
looking at our results psychological and
paranormal horror genre are prevalent
among our target audience so we should
asses this and put this into our final piece
as well.
Question 8; How often do you watch a
horror movie?
This question is relevant to our survey as
from our results it is clear that the majority
of people only watch horror movies once
and month and others only once a year.
Therefore, when we create our final piece
it has to be captivating and appealing to
our audience so much that they would
want to watch horror movies regularly as.
Question 9; What elements do you like to
see in the opening of a horror movie?
As target audience have responded
saying they prefer having jumpy moments,
silence and darkness, we know what we
need to include into our horror opening.
This question is particularly helpful as it
outlines a clear idea of the three main
elements that we would need to
incorporate into our horror opening.
