QUESTIONNAIRE
ANALYSIS
Questionnaire 1: What is your gender?
7 out of the 10 applicants were male while 3
0% was female. We have chosen that 70%
of our individuals were male because a
Horror Thriller could be known as scary and
the stereotype of men being strong and
passionate means that we based most our
questionnaire on males.
Question 2: How old are you?
50% of our applicants were between 17-21
years old, this is because Scene’s
Productions wants to base its target market
around this age as this is a very common
age of going to the cinema and watching
thrillers. We also asked different age groups
so that we could get a wide variety of
opinions of age.
Question 3: What must a thriller include?
This question got all different answers
which is very pleasing, this is important
because if we can take these answers into
consideration and add the majority of these
answers to our film then we will be able to
attract these individuals.
Question 4: What is your favourite type of
thriller?
This question had a joint lead with both
on 40%, these options were a Horror
thriller or a Physiological thriller. Our
thriller is going to be a Horror thriller
which means that the majority of the
applicants will like to watch this film
because it is a Horror thriller.
Question 5: Why do you watch thrillers?
The majority of the question was
‘Entertainment’ whilst the other votes
were ‘Plot twists’ and ‘They interest me’.
As a result of this Scene’s productions is
going to make this film as entertaining as
they can so they can fit the requirement
which everyone would like to see in a
thriller.
Question 6: What would be your ideal
location for a Horror thriller?
This test was quite well spread with all
answers were given a tick, therefore we
will try to adapt as many locations as we
can by mixing some together so that we
can fit different types of answers into
one. I believe this will be a benefit
because we can attract different target
markets for this questionnaire and try to
impress as much as we can.
Question 7: What narrative features
make a good thriller?
This question was very narrow between
two answers; this was ‘Suspense’ and
‘Plot twists’, this means that we will try to
involve a plot twist in our film which will
create suspense which means by
involving both techniques the audience
will not suspect and will be in tensed for
the rest of the film.
Question 8: What background should a
character have within a thriller?
A ‘Traumatic event’ was the most
popular out of this question with 60%
where the next lowest was 20%, this will
result in us involving this technique if the
audience want to see this technique in
our thriller?
Question 9: What do you believe
which builds tension in thriller?
‘Music’ was a clear favourite out of
this question with 70% which means
that we have no choice then to use
this technique to build tension in a
thriller, this is important because this
will be a major point in the film where
tension will be created.
Question 10: What actors or actresses
do you associate with a thriller?
Obviously we are not a big film
production company who can afford
these big names therefore this
question was pure fully for traits which
these actors portray when they are
acting. Liam Nelson was very popular
because of the latest trilogoly he was
involved in called ‘Taken’. This means
that we could try to employ an actor
which can use the techniques with this
character and can use them with our
character in our film.
