As Tayler and I are undecided on what genre our film will be, we decided that we would let
our market research decide what film we went for. The results are pretty obvious that
Action/Adventure is the most popular film genre, so this is where our independent research
will stem from. Now onwards we are both going to further our research and try to find where
there are some gaps in the market and what kind of action film we could create.
We weren’t entirely sure how long we should make our trailer, so once again we asked our
market research. In some brief research we did we found that most trailers last an average
of 2 minutes, so we asked our target audience what they would prefer. I thought that if our
film was shorter than a minute, we wouldn’t be able to include enough shots and
information to make our trailer successful. I personally thought that we might have to
extend our trailer to longer than two minutes, although Tayler didn’t agree. You can see in
the results that most people believed that the best trailer would be between 1:30 minutes
and 2 minutes, so we will work towards this and see what happens.
We wanted to create a mix of audio in our teaser trailer to create more dramatic effects. We
weren’t sure which audio we should include though so we turned to our target audience to
find out what they like best. The results showed a bit of a mixed bag in terms of what the
audience would prefer, so we decided that we would include more than one. We will
definitely need a very strong soundtrack to accompany the action. I don’t think after our
results we will include any dialogue in our trailer, as it might not appeal to our target
audience as much as a strong narration.

                                               this one was chosen.

Questionnaire

  • 1. We only wanted people of a certain age range to receive our survey, because we wanted to limit it to decide our target audience. To help with this we only sent it out to people within We wanted to make sure that we Ryde Academy. The most interest for our film was formed sent our questionnaire out to an from people of the ages of 15-18 so we decided that this equal amount of both genders. This would be our target audience. We both decided that this was because we want our film to be would be the best way to conduct our market research. So we have decided that we will be aiming our film at teenagers. We have decided to give our film a rating of 12, as this means we are not too limited in using an X-rated langauge, sex scenes and the misuse of drugs and alcohol, as we would be if we made our film a U. 12 M… 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20+
  • 2. As Tayler and I are undecided on what genre our film will be, we decided that we would let our market research decide what film we went for. The results are pretty obvious that Action/Adventure is the most popular film genre, so this is where our independent research will stem from. Now onwards we are both going to further our research and try to find where there are some gaps in the market and what kind of action film we could create.
  • 3. We weren’t entirely sure how long we should make our trailer, so once again we asked our market research. In some brief research we did we found that most trailers last an average of 2 minutes, so we asked our target audience what they would prefer. I thought that if our film was shorter than a minute, we wouldn’t be able to include enough shots and information to make our trailer successful. I personally thought that we might have to extend our trailer to longer than two minutes, although Tayler didn’t agree. You can see in the results that most people believed that the best trailer would be between 1:30 minutes and 2 minutes, so we will work towards this and see what happens.
  • 4. We wanted to create a mix of audio in our teaser trailer to create more dramatic effects. We weren’t sure which audio we should include though so we turned to our target audience to find out what they like best. The results showed a bit of a mixed bag in terms of what the audience would prefer, so we decided that we would include more than one. We will definitely need a very strong soundtrack to accompany the action. I don’t think after our results we will include any dialogue in our trailer, as it might not appeal to our target audience as much as a strong narration.
  • 5. One of our first ideas was to create a superhero movie. We wanted to make sure We decided to carry on with the idea of a that this idea would appeal to our target superhero film in our trailer for the rest of audience, so we asked them if they would our questionnaire. We wanted to know be interested in a superhero movie. As you which gender our target audience would can see from the results, it appears that our prefer for the main superhero protagonist target audience would be interested in a to be. It appears that our target audience superhero movie, so this may be a path we would prefer a male. However, because decide to run with. we are giving our film a feministic twist we might choose to go against this.
  • 6. Invisibility We wanted to know what super power our Super Strength Fly target audience would prefer the superhero Change Time to have. The results came back that they Mind Reading/Control would prefer for the hero to be able to Teleportation become invisible. I think that this could be Shape Shifting challenging to create, however it will be Speed Super Intelligence easier to show than the ability to change time, super intelligence or mind reading. We weren’t very sure whether we will include a power for the villain, but we thought we should include a question for it in case we do. You can see from the results that the target audience would prefer if the villain had a super strength. I think that this would be the easiest power to create so I am glad that this one was chosen.
