- 1. QUESTION 6
- 2. I have used different types of technologies to create my magazine. For the photo shoot in the studio I used a DSLR camera and 5 point lighting on the light boxes, this was to ensure that the photos were in high quality, this helped me learn how to take professional pictures with lighting as I only had skills to take basic pictures without lighting. The format I had originally chosen was RAW file but somehow the format for all my pictures turned out to be JPEG, luckily my pictures are still of very high quality. For the location shoot, I used a compact camera with natural lighting and no artificial lighting, I didn’t learn any particular skills as using a compact camera is very simple and there aren’t any special skills required. After I transferred all the images into the computer and chose a selection of images to feature in my magazine, I noticed that most of the images that were taken in the studio needed to be cropped as the corners of the images were dark and to do this I used the cropping tool in Adobe Photoshop, there were no specific skills used as the cropping tool is something that I have used many times before but the new thing was that I used the cropping tool on Photoshop as I don’t usually use Photoshop. I used Photoshop to create the front cover of the magazine, Illustrator to create the masthead of the magazine and InDesign to create the contents page and double-page spread. I learnt many skills when developing the different parts of my magazine as I used programs and tools that I have never used before. I have also created a Blogger account and I have uploaded my front cover, contents page and DPS as well as other work I have done.

The reason why I have uploaded my magazine onto my Blog is to receive feedback which will help me make further improvements to my magazine and I have improved my magazine according to the feedback I have received and also uploaded the improved version. Another reason why I upload my work onto Blogger is because it’s an easy way to keep my work organised in order and it’s accessible to others to view and that way they could get more ideas when creating their own work. Also it allows me to create an ongoing journey of my work and allows me to embed multimedia content.
- 4. I created my masthead using Illustrator. I used the text tool to type my masthead and then changed the font style and size. I selected the create outlines options to experiment with the masthead after a lot of experimenting I decided to keep my masthead simple. I learnt a lot of skills while creating my masthead as I now know how to use the tools to create something creative and different. The skills that I have developed could be used in the future if I ever want to create something.
- 5. I created the front cover using Photoshop. I created rulers to ensure that all the text and images were aligned and not all over the place. I placed the masthead using file>open option and then placed the image using the rectangle tool followed by the file>place option. I started to create my coverlines using the text tool and changed the font style, size and colour. I also placed the barcode and QR code using the same option I used to place the image and masthead. By using these different tools I have gained many skills that can help me use Photoshop in the future or help others use Photoshop.
- 6. I used InDesign to create my contents page and DPS. I selected an A3 landscape page as I wanted a double-page contents page. I created rulers to ensure that the text and images were aligned. I used the text tool to insert text and then added images using the rectangle tool followed by file>place option. For the DPS, I also chose an A3 page, I added rulers to ensure that the text and image is aligned. I then added the text using the text tool and the image using the rectangle tool followed by file>place. I developed a lot of skills while developing my contents page and DPS and this helped me create a contents page to the best of my ability.
