Technologies are used throughout the filmindustry during each process of the films
production. From pre-production to post-production, these technologies are used in order
to complete a filmand thus I have used as many of these as possible in order to achieve a
successful and hopefully professional film opening.
Camera: CANON 600D
The Camera which I used, Canon 600D enabled me to achieve a high
quality visual for my filmand allowed me to help tell my story through
perks that the camera had. The shot of the door banging open and
the sudden jolt to the side was aided by the camera as despite such a
sudden shift in positioning, still kept its focus as soon as the camera
became stationary once again which assisted me greatly as it meant that there was no need
to enhance the images afterward. The following shot of the worried protagonist was also
helped by the camera quality, as it meant that his emotions were picked up easily and the
audience could understand how he was feeling at that moment. As such, I learnt how the
quality of the camera often aided the film opening without the help of dialogue – it allowed
the story to be told through its visual quality which furthered my film.
Editing software: Adobe Premiere and After Effects
The Adobe Premiere editingprogramallowedme tocut footage downtoprime moments,add
furthersoundandfootage fromexternal sourcesandjustcreate a more
professionalandcinematicfilmopeningandthisprogramallowedme todo
that due to itsquickto understandlogisticsandfunctions.Inone case
however,Iwasnot able toperforman editof Premiere andinsteadused
anotherAdobe program – AfterEffectswhichIhad neverusedandhad to
learn.The effectwasto turna colouredfootage intoblackandwhite inorder
to connote the ideaof a flashback.Iwas able to learnquicklyanddothis
successfullyasitwasoftennotedinmyaudience feedbackthatthe flashbackwasaneffective part
of myfilm– to quote Elishia“Like the use of blackand white forflashbacks”whichshowshow Iwas
assistedbythisprogram.I alsolearnthow to incorporate more effective titlesintomysequence as
inpreviousmediaproductsIhave completedmytitleshadbeen poor,byresearchingthrillerfilm
openingsthroughYouTube Iwasable to studytitle conventionsandthankfullyPremiere wasable to
assistthisprocess. My titleswere alsowellreceivedwithfeedbackfromMr Drummondsaying “Title
– good,fitsgenre.Veryeffective”.

LinkedwithGoogle,whichIusedextensivelyduringmypre-
productionprocesssuchas genre research,Bloggeristhe
website whichIusedtostore all of my mediaworkfor this
product.The simple layoutof Bloggerallowsall of mywork
uploadstobe clear,visibleandeasilyaccessible.Ihave learnt
fromusingthistechnologythatusingthe interface enablesme
to editevencompletedpostswhichisuseful formanagingmy
work,makingsure itis of good qualityandthusgivingits
audience abetterattraction. I alsolearnthow myuploadsonto
bloggercouldbe viewedbythe publicandmoreoverhow manypeople andfromhow manynations
aroundthe worldcan andhave viewedmyblogger.Thiswasaninterestingfindasitshowedme the
marketthat my workwas beingaccessedbyandthusgivingme more motivationintomakingmy
workthroughoutall productionstagesprofessional.

I usedSlideshareforthe vastmajorityof my pre-productionwork,duringthe researchperiodof my
production.The use of Slideshare consistingof embeddingthe documentcode ontoBloggerwasone
whichI had done before howeverIdidlearnhow many formatscouldbe uploadedviathis
technologysuchasPowerPointwhichIutilisedfrequentlyandcreatedafar more professional look
to my bloggedwork.
YouTube wasgreatlybeneficial tothe constructionof mymediaproductformultiple reasons.For
example duringmypre-productionphase itallowedme,due tothe millionsof contentposted,to
findspecificexamplesof thrillerfilmopeningswhichIwasable to
use to helpme withconstructingmyownas theyfeatured
conventionsof the genre.YouTube alsobenefittedme duringmy
post-productionphase whatwithmyactual filmopeningbeing
uploadedtoYouTube aswell asquestion4 and5 of myevaluation.
From thisI learnthowthe YouTube couldassistthe qualityof my
film,alongside AdobePremiereIlearnthow toensure that the
qualityof myfilmwasof the highestpossible givenmycamera
used.Iwas able to uploadin720p HD whichallowedforafar betterviewingexperience andadded
to the professionalismandlegitimacyof mymediaproduct.
FootageCrate wasmassivelybeneficialtomypost-productionwork.Iwasable to
downloadmultiple visual effectsinordertomake my filmlookasprofessionalas
possible while maintainingthe codesandconventionsof athrillergenre.Effects
such as the visual staticonmy fictitiousproductioncompanyaswell asthe smoke
alongside the titlesof “RememberMe?”allowedme tosuccessfullygivemyfilm
distinctionfromothersandhavingreceivedfeedbackfrommyaudience believe thatthiswasthe
case.Matt aged17 said “the smoke title sequencesweremadness- greatjob,wellsuitedtothe
genre.”Overall fromFootageCrate Ilearnthow toconverge the footage intoPremiere andinvolveit
withthe actionon screen,suchas the smoke behindthe titles.
