3. MAHARA
Mahara is a site were we able to post and display our whole process of;
creating, designing, researching and evaluating our own marketing
campaign for our film. The site allowed us to receive feedback on our
research from our teachers and our group members which allowed us to
improve and research into other areas that would help our marketing
campaign.
However Mahara wouldn't accept some presentation formats which
meant having to export my work as a different Microsoft formats. This
caused some issues at the beginning of my coursework, but was not a
problem as I understood the complication.
4. GOOGLE
➤ This search engine allowed me to access information that
helped in regarding my research. I was able to look at any
website I wanted that I felt would benefit my marketing
campaign research.
➤ I had no issues when using this search engine.
5. YOUTUBE
➤ This website allowed me to browse any videos that were
relevant to my teaser trailer research. For example, I was able
to view detective thriller trailers such as “The silence of the
Lamb” and “prisoner” just by typing in the name of the film in
the search tool bar.
➤ I found the website very easy to use as it was clearly formatted
and was supplied with lots of content.
➤ However, because the website is open to the public, some
videos were hard to find and uploaded in very poor quality,
making it hard to view the video.
6. PEARL AND DEAN
➤ This website allowed me to access all information regarding
target viewings of certain films. This ranged from the average
age of the audiences, the viewing percentage between
genders and the average class type of the audience.
➤ The information was very useful and helped to target our
audience as we could copy similar age groups and genders
according to our genre.
➤ However Pearl and Dean did not have all the films that were
related to our genre choice that I needed for my target
research. This restricted me as I wasn't able to develop a clear
picture of my target audience.
7. APPLE MAC
➤ I used this computer to access the websites and the softwares
that I needed to source my research. The computer was fast
and included a high processing CPU which allowed me to
have lots of programs running at the same time.
➤ I only issue was that it was a computer that had to stay in a
fixed location meaning I couldn’t transport it around with me.
This would of allowed me to have gotten my work completed in
a smaller space of time.
9. STORYBOARD THAT
➤ “Storyboard that” Website allowed our group to develop a
visual representation of story plot for our film using animated
shapes and characters, supplied by the website.
➤ This helped our group to understand the setting of our film and
the general relationships between each character.
➤ However the animations given via the website were very basic,
with a overall lack of different types of shapes and characters
to use.
10. MAHARA
➤ We used Mahara to upload the information that gathered for
our filming and editing planning into one blog.
11. GOOGLE IMAGES
➤ I used this section of the search engine to help create my
mood-board for our main character. The idea behind this was
to help visualise the image of the main character to the rest of
my group so we would know what to bring in terms of props
and outfits.
12. SLIDESHARE
➤ This website was used to upload all files that were
incompatible with Mahara. The website allowed me to take a
embed code which I could then upload to my Mahara account.
➤ I had no issues using this site as the resolution stayed fairly
consistent with all of my original files.
13. APPLE MAC
➤ I used this computer to store files, load websites and programs
that helped with my planning for our filming and marketing
campaign.
15. CAMERA
➤ We used a camera to record our teaser trailer and take pictures for our poster
and magazine cover. The DSLR camera that we used was good as it allowed
use to shoot 60fps which meant when we wanted to use the slow motion
effect, it would look fluid instead of disjointed if shot with a slower fps.
Furthermore, it had a big megapixel resolution meaning that the pictures that
we took had lots of detail, which was important when we enlarged the photos.
➤ The camera didn't come with any other lenses which limited our creativity as
we weren't able to experiment with different perspectives. Because we had one
lens, we relied more upon the distances away from the characters and the
angles when filming.
16. TRIPOD
➤ We used this to steady the camera during still shots so that it
didn't look as if someone was holding the camera.
➤ The only problem with this tripod was that it didn't come with a
tracker which would of allowed us to move the camera whilst
keeping a steady shot.
17. APPLE MAC
➤ We producing our marketing campaign, we used a apple mac
computer to run software types such Photoshop and Final cut
pro. These softwares took a lot of the computers CPU,
however the computer was able to cope with running these
softwares.
➤ Again, the issue was that we were unable to move the
computer meaning we were not able to access it as much as
we wanted to.
19. PHOTOSHOP
➤ We used the software for both our poster and magazine cover. We found that
we were much more familiar with this software and were able to achieve the
same results without having to use external softwares. The tools on
Photoshop were excellent as they allowed us to crop and isolate our character
from a background, meaning we could create new images to put behind her.
➤ The software came with effects such as a blurred outline of our main
character on our poster. This helped fit in with the genre of our film as it gave
a mystic atmosphere to the poster (which we kept throughout our marketing
campaign).
20. FINAL CUT PRO
➤ This was a video editing software that allowed our group to bring in
all footage that we recorded during our recording day and arrange
the clips along a timeline. We were able to trim, layer and use all
available tools to help create our teaser trailer.
➤ The software came with effects to alter the colour balance of the
video, audio effects for the sound e.g. reverb/delay and different
transitions between shots.
➤ For me, these effects were very basic and usually only came with
one preset to use meaning it was hard to sculpt the effects to our
video.
