1. How did you attract/address
your audience?
Questionnaire Results
Part 2 of Question 5
2. When recording the
results I decided to
combine both genders
results as the product
appeals to both
genders and so
therefore it doesn't
make a different
whether the results
were from males or
females.
I have asked the
audience what could
make the magazine
better, and so
therefore focusing on
aspects of the
magazine that could
be improved, so that I
could get a better
understanding of
features that could be
improved.
By asking a range of
open and closed
questions I can fully
understand which
aspects worked well
and find out whether
the target audience
would actually
purchase and why
they would/wouldn’t.
The open questions
can allow the people
taking my
questionnaire to
elaborate and tell me
constructive critisism
on my magazine. The
open questions give
me an overview on
the questions that do
not need explaining, it
is simple two answers
possible.
3. 1. Do you think my music magazine
represents the genre of pop?
Yes
No
The majority of the people that took my magazine thought that my magazine does represent
the genre of pop well and that overall it was successful in fulfilling its purpose of appealing
to those who listen to pop music.
4. 2. Do the bands featured relate to this
genre?
Yes
No
Similarly to question 1, the results show that the majority of the target audience for this
question also said that the bands featured link well with the genre of the music. This is
because I tried to make the featured artists as close to famous pop musicians as possible so
that it would be as professional as possible.
5. 3. What is your favourite feature of the
magazine?
Answers given included:
-Main article
-Colour scheme
-Various fonts used
-Masthead name and presentation
Therefore, this shows that these features appealed to my target audience and so were
successful when designing my music magazine. Also the most common feature was the main
article, and so I think this would worked as it clearly appealed to many people in my target
audience range and was an important feature of my magazine.
6. 4. What do you think I could do
differently next time?
Answers given included:
-Colour scheme to be more used in the main article
-Double page spread could use more images
-Different ethnical groups used as models in my images
If I were to improve my magazine I would definitely make sure that I included more artists in
different positions such as further away from the camera, so that it is more interesting to
look at. I would also place some features much more professionally as I think that on my
double page spread, I could have used more larger titles to make it look more attarctive and
less like just a block of text.
7. 5. What features of the magazine are
clear and interesting?
Answers given included:
-Images are professionally taken and used many different people to
represent different things
-A lot on one page, but not too crowded
-The layout of the magazine is well spread out so it is easy to read and
looks professional
-The masthead included an image of a bubble, but is clear to show it is
representing the letter ‘O’.
By asking this question I have therefore found out which features of the magazine worked
well and so next time if I make something similar, I can use similar features that I knew
worked effectively this time. I have also found out that these particular features attracted
the target audience and so I was successful overall in doing this.
8. 6. Do you think this would appeal to
people who are in the target audience
and do you think it would sell? Why?
Yes
No
A higher majority of people said yes and so that shows that I was successful in creating a
product which would appeal to the target audience and would be sold in shops next to
other music magazines.
9. 6. Do you think this would appeal to
people who are in the target audience
and do you think it would sell? Why?
Yes - reasons included:
-Eye catching
-Articles attract those who
listen to the genre
-Many features being shown
on the front cover
-Competitions and free
prizes being available
No - reasons included:
-Not enough images on the
double page spread
-Only one type of ethnical
group being represented
Although the majority of the people I had asked said that my magazine would appeal to the
target audience and that it would be bought in shops, some said that it wouldn’t and the
reasons given were mainly focused on the pictures used. If I were to produce my magazine
again I would definitely include more ethnical groups into my images and make sure that
they were represented more, as this would make my magazine appeal to a larger target
audience.
