Question 4 evaluation
1. Question 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
2. Adobe Photoshop Photoshop was used to edit all images taken and used throughout the ancillary tasks. It was highly beneficial to the construction of my digipak, it gave me the ability to put the back cover writing in the perspective its in. It also let me alter the background to black and white yet keep colour in the model and to put different styles of text into the work. Without Photoshop there's no chance that my work would of been to the standard it’s at. This had an technological determinism over my work, it allowed me to be creative yet restricted to an extent.
3. Adobe OnLocation & Premier Pro OnLocation allowed us to capture our shots from our camera and onto premier pro. Premiere Pro was by far the biggest technological advantage to the production, it helped us so much in the way in which we could cut and edit our captured shots. Not only this but also allowed us to input our black and white look, also gave us the power to put on the lyrics on the screen, both these features were pointed out positively in our audience feedback. This contained technological determinism in the way that it allowed us to use creative methods but restricted us from maximising our potential. I feel we could of attained this potential by gaining more knowledge on how to use the programme, with more knowledge comes more possiblities.
4. Nikon D60 DSLR camera & Panasonic DV camera The camera was used to take photo’s for my digipak, its high quality and was beneficial to the production. The camera had numerous settings and alterations which could be made, these features allowed to pull out the full potential of each picture taken and maximise the potential of the end product. The Panasonic camera, well , we couldn’t of produced our video without it, the only setback is that we could only gain access to the standard one not the HD, if we did then the video would be in much better quality. Alterations could be made to the film whilst filming like depth of field, which we put to use and made out video more aesthetically pleasing.
5. YouTube, Facebook & Blogger YouTube gave me the power to find influences for our video, highly beneficial as it had such a broad array of media available to us, also known as Media 2.0, meaning that so much information related to media is accessible through the internet. Globalisation was gained through YouTube, it’s a great way to spread a cultural media message and played a big part in targeting our audience, pin-pointing the genre and discovering house styles of grime. Not only this but allowed me to research into what our genre redundantly was and what seemed entropic to it, also gave us an insight into what our target audience was by looking at the comments on the videos and looking at the people who wrote them. Facebook is a huge social network, so we felt it would be a great way to attain audience feedback, we posted such things as our mood board on Facebook with some questions below and got some great detailed feedback from friends, it also allowed us to target our audience and others from doing so. Blogger has aided me throughout the whole media course, it contains all my work and without it i would have nothing. It’s good as it let me keep all my work in one place and easy for people to see and comment on.
