The document discusses the various media technologies used to create a documentary project including three products. Adobe Premiere was used for video editing, allowing clips to be cut, faded and organized. Research involved using websites like Google to find statistics and viewing other documentaries for conventions. GarageBand was used to create an audio trailer by overlaying interview clips. Blogger, Outlook and InDesign were also utilized for communication, sharing work, and designing a magazine article.
How media technologies constructed our documentary
1. QUESTION 4: HOW DID WE USE
MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE
CONSTRUCTION OF YOUR
MAIN PRODUCT,RESEARCH
AND PLANNING OF
EVALUATION STAGE
RORY OAKLEY
2. INTRODUCTION
The filming of our documentary required many media
technologies to be used for each product. This made us
come together in order to ensure all 3 products had a high
standard of quality
3. ADOBE PREMIERE
This programme was a key part of editing the documentary it
allowed us to get the best results for our documentary. The
use of fades added a very sharp touch to the documentary it
made everything flow freely. The title sequence used to
introduce the film made it look bold and stands out very well.
The cutting and ading of clips were very useful as it allowed
us to get rid of irrelevant clips and add in key bits of film
which were either recorded after filming ended or were
forgetten.
4. RESEARCH STAGE
Websites such as Google were very handy with collecting
research as we were able to find important statistics and
facts about YouTube, we searched for documentaries that
had similar codes and conventions to ours. We looked at
Vlogumentary, please subscribe on YouTube and SuperSize
me on vimeo. These websites were a great help to use as it
helped use decided what to take from other documentaries
and what not to take at the same time.
5. RADIO TRAILER
The use of GarageBand was the most straightforward task as
it was simple to pick up even though it was our first time
using the programme, we eventually learned how to take
clips from our documentary and add it into the radio trailer, a
useful tool was the fade bar which allowed our expert
interviews to overlap each other with no blips. Following this
we were able to upload our radio trailer to SoundCloud.
6. OUTLOOK AND
BLOGGER
Blogger was a very important part of our work as we keep
each other updated and add improvements onto specific
pieces of work could upload our work on a regular basis. The
use of Microsoft Outlook was a very important website to
use as we were able to send each other screenshots and
different pieces of work, as well as this it was used to contact
YouTuber’s on the possibility of them being in our
documentary even though most of them were busy Tomska
and Jack Howard did actually reply to us.
7. INDESIGN
Indesign was used to create our magazine article,we had
used this previously was old projects so were fairly familiar.
We spent a lot of time editing the magazine as we wanted it to
took really genuine, we looked at other magazine articles for
inspiration and were able to make the right one which
complimented our other 2 products.
