The target audience of the magazine is 16-25 year olds because mainstream music, which is featured in the magazine, primarily appeals to younger people. Mainstream music can be heard in places like schools and radio stations that younger people frequent. Additionally, mainstream music is often what is advertised and available to purchase through mobile apps and online stores popular among younger generations. The magazine features both male and female artists to appeal to both genders within the target demographic through images and headlines.

2. The target audience of my magazine is the younger
generation of 16-25 year olds. This is because the
genre of music coming across, mainstream, appeals
to a younger audience. This is because mainstream
music is a lot of the time played on leading radio
stations such as Key 103 and Capital FM, schools,
colleges, universities, clubs, parties and the
television. These are places where it’s more likely
for my target audience to hear mainstream music
and be interested in it.

3. Also, with the technology that a lot of the younger
generation use, music can now be purchased via
web 2.0 and on mobile phone apps. A lot of the
music generally advertised of the web 2.0 and
phone apps is mainstream music.

4. Both males and females are addressed in the
magazine through images and cover lines. This pulls
in both gender groups in to read the magazine. Even
though the main feature is of a boy band, which
could in ways be seen as gender biased, female
artists are still mentioned throughout. My magazine
has not just a sophisticated feel to it but a fun and
young feel to it also, again relating to my target
audience.
