QUESTION 3. WHAT HAVE
YOU LEARNT FROMYOUR
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
During the process of making and developing
our videos as a class we watched the videos
and gave each other feedback, in these
sessions I got feedback such as:
Lip syncing is well in
time, I love how you’ve
challenged yourself to
do so much lip sync.
Believable
actor, looks like
he really is singing
the lyrics.
The thing I improved upon..
People initially said
my video was a bit
boring and repetitive
This was when I decided to
add the reverse speed to
the shots that weren't him
singing. This caught the audience
attention more so they wanted
to watch it and people said it
definitely improved it and
made the video as a whole less
boring.
The completed video…
After I added all the improvements I wanted to and the finished product was ready, I
then got brief audience feedback from others. I got feedback such as 'I love the use
of both performance and the conceptual aspects.' Most people said they felt that
my location conformed with the genre which my song is, they said that the use of
the forest was very apt considering Newton Faulkner's personality, he is very
chilled, peaceful and his songs are representative of that. Others thought that I had
done to match the song up to the lip syncing of my actor so well, I am proud of this
comment as I worked hard on getting them as matched as possible.
Questionnaires
After this I wanted a greater quantity and more detailed so I got other people to
complete a questionnaire about their opinion on my video, I wanted to get people
that liked indie music, people from that target audience and also people who are
completely out the target audience that indie music is often aimed at. I created a
designed a questionnaire with the questions I wanted answered the most. These are
the questions which I included on my questionnaire.
Feedback
When asking someone who was older
than my target audience I found they
didn’t know what to answer for a couple
of the questions are they purely didn’t
understand what I meant, however all
said that they enjoyed watching the
video
When I asked people who are in
the target audience they felt I
followed the characteristics
well, most people said they liked
the use of appropriate costume
and location and the backward
effect really added to it.
I also wanted to ask someone younger than the
target audience purely to see what they
understood. When asking my younger
cousins, they found the bits running backwards
fun and exciting and the performance bit
boring, so to target my video are more of an age
round I could adapt the video slightly to have
more fun involved that just mainly singing.
Question 6…
The response I got from question 6 was
very reassuring, people all thought that all my
images in my digi-pack and video worked well
together, as they all had a similar colour scheme
because most the images feature the forest or a
green colour which connected them all
together, they like the repeated us of the same
image on the front of my CD as well as on the
magazine advert because it linked the two and felt
it would make you recognised the CD in a store
before you read the text purely because of the
repeated image.
Things I would improve
if I was to do this task
again…
1. The first few suggestions people made
were things such as perhaps developing a
narrative to the video for there to be a
constant story throughout to keep the
audiences attention more.
2. Also to review the first few clips to try and
sort out why there was the glitch in the
first few clips.
3. Another thing would be re-filming a
couple of the clips as one or two are ever
so slightly shaky.
