Lionsgate was chosen to distribute the film "Clown" for several reasons. Lionsgate is a large, successful independent film and television distribution company. It focuses on distributing films that target young adults, similar to the demographic targeted by "Clown". The conventions of Lionsgate's films, such as the colors, lighting and credits, are also very similar to those of "Clown". Distributing the film with a well-known company like Lionsgate could increase the chances of success and future opportunities. Lionsgate also allows for large advertising opportunities to increase profits.

There are many popular distribution companies in
which distribute a range of film genres which
target different demographics all around the
world.
For my film opening we had to choose if we
wanted to go for a slightly smaller horror based
company. Or a larger all round genre company.
After looking at the pros and cons of both
situations, I decided it would be a good idea to
choose Lions gate to distribute our film. This is
because Lions Gate entertainment is the most
successful independent commercially and
television Distribution Company and the seventh
most profitable movie studio.

LIONSGATE?Lions Gate Entertainment distributes
films and television programs. A lot
of there new films target young
adults with films consisting of The
Hunger Games, Now You See Me and
many more. This is why I feel as if
Clown is a perfect film for Lions Gate
Entertainment to distribute as they
focus on the demographics that
Demathon Pictures has focused on.
The conventions of Lions Gates films
are very similar to our conventions in
Clown. Purely on the colours, lighting
and layout of the credits. If Lions
Gate distributes out film then the
film is more likely to succeed because
it is such a popular distribution
company.
As it is a well recognized distributor,
it could increase the chance of having
future opportunities after the
distribution of Clown. Working
together with Lions Gate, we will be
able to afford large advertisement
opportunities which would increase
our profit.

2. Finding the correct
distribution market
It is important to find the best market for distribution for any
media product, but in our case it’s a film opening. One way is the
most common way, T.V. advertisements. This would show the up
coming film and tell the audience that it will be in cinemas soon.
You would have to make sure you set a good time for your advert
to be played. As how film is horror based our advert slot would be
perfect at about 9 o clock because that’s when children are asleep
and its just teenagers, young adults and adults awake and allowed
to watch the television.
Social Networking is also another way to find the best distribution market because it will
target the young adults who use the technology in terms of twitter and Facebook. Also
showing the opening on Netflix and Love Film will target existing movie watchers.
