Will Eyre designed promotional materials for his film that maintained consistency across mediums. For the poster and magazine, he used the same bold red title font with a smudge on "Dirty" to brand the project. He selected red and black colors throughout to connote the film's themes of death and trouble. The magazine featured the three main characters to identify them, while the poster took a more dramatic approach by depicting a threatening gun pointing down with the phrase "get down" to tie it to the film's trailer. The dark color schemes and masculine themes throughout the products were meant to appeal to the target 16+ male audience.
2. Text design
We used the same title design in our poster and magazine using a bold red font with a smudge
on the “Dirty”
We got this idea of using
the same font for the title
from inception, who used
very similar titles on their
poster and magazine cover
We decided to use red and
black as the dominant
colours for our products as
they connote the idea of
death and trouble, which is
what our film is about, in
essence. They appear in all
our products and help to
create the brand identity
3. Characters
For the magazine we used images of the three main characters, these are the same characters that
appear in the film, this creates the idea that these characters are the main characters of the film.
For the poster we decided to be slightly more
dramatic, it crosses over with the end of our
trailer nicely, as one of the characters shouts
get down, after a gun goes off, this links these
two products together quite well as the gun is
pointing down, and looks threatening, the
“get down” shouted at the end puts a picture
to that phrase.
4. Target audience
The target audience for my film was people aged 16+ and most probably men.
It think the products show off this quite well as they all have quite dark colours, which seem more
typical of male orientated films, as all three products have these same themes running through
them, it helps to really combine all of the products.
As you can see for the poster
of snatch it has a dark colour
scheme and looks like it is
trying to appeal to the male
audience, just like my film.
5. Mise en scene
In the poster a gun is the main focus, and this is quite appropriate for a bank robbery, and in
the magazine there are the three men in the balaclavas which is again appropriate for a bank
robbery.
Both of the items are black but that makes them blend in well with the background which
shows the darker themes of the film.
