magazine “Wave”

this magazine
represents
particular social
groups mainly
through the genre
of my magazine
which is the Indie
music culture , I
shall explain how
using the
techniques I have
included attracts
the social groups
to the genre of my
magazine “Wave”

3. For the Name of my magazine I chose the word ‘Wave’ this
could be interpreted as new wave music, which might intrigue
the reader into finding out what music the magazine is. I used
a plain bold text for this in a solid black, in doing so I was able
to make sure that this can be read by all social groups
broadening who the magazine appeals too. The black
contrasts with natural black to make the heading stand out.
The bold text may attract the younger audience to the
magazine and the idea of new-wave music could be looked
into by fans of the indie music culture.

4. For the image on the front of my
magazine I used the picture of a girl
wearing a flowery dress, this young girl
symbolizes what type of group would
be drawn to this magazine, the fashion
in the picture has aspects of the indie
music culture and also the culture of
the youth, the piercing in her nose and
the spike in her ear shows a form of
style that is associated with the indie
culture and the youth, her dress
matches the natural surroundings of
the woods around her. Her lipstick
matches the colour scheme throughout
the magazine, this draws her lips out in
the image and creating this sense of
familiarity in the magazine. By using
the image of someone that is being
mentioned inside the magazine we are
telling the buyers and readers of the
magazine that if you a fan of this
person/band there is more about them
inside attracting the fans of that form of

5. The text throughout the cover of my magazine uses a colour scheme of red
and white, the red matches the lipstick of the girl I have used on the front
of the picture. I have used band names and the names of musicians on the
front, in doing so I am telling the reader what form and genre of music this
magazine is aimed towards. By putting multiple names on the front of the
magazine we open the magazine to the right sort of audience that would be
looking for the indie music genre, if they see a name of a band the like, they
know that there is more about that band inside which would sway them to
buying the magazine
