2. • This portrait of Lady Macbeth was a big
inspiration to the appearance of the actress
and the type of costume that would be
suitable to convey her glamorous yet naturally
raw style that she embraces around the
surroundings of the garden. It works as a
camaflouge as well as a symbol of wealth and
fashion.

particular time period and these photographs
of women in the different time periods still
give off a gothic yet chic persona.

• The obvious themes of a Victorian thriller (even
adapted from a literary text), consist of the
following: elements of
personality, virtue, inherent evil, undertones of
a sexual nature, a human's thought
processes, class, society. Since our thriller has
been completed recently, and now we have
fulfilled the final requirements of peer
discussion and evaluation, the topic of themes is
a frequent discussion amoungst our group

• Social groups and character representation is not
only a key element to the selling-point of a
product but also it is important when
entertaining your audience. The actress’ dress is
not only inspired by classic figures but also by the
A-list celebrity KeiraKnightley as she is known to
play the usual period drama female.
• The character in our sequence does not have a
name which could symbolize women’s lack of
importance in this time period.

8. Make up
The wound on her face
represents her being victimized
and abused and wounded after
war.
The bright red lips is a
fashionable statement of the
time and symbolizes wealth, sex,
danger and love.
The greyness around her eyes is
purposefully done to represent
dust which contrasts with the
paleness of the skin that was
considered a mark of beauty at
the time.

9. Exclusion of characters
• Because there is a lack of characters and only
a focus of the woman, the audience acts as a
voyeur, watching the woman go through this
maze of thought whilst in the bath tub, almost
drowning.
• As a team the best thrill factor for the
audience is to give a one on one feel, which
corners the audience and takes them out of
their comfort zone.
