This document evaluates how a student media product uses, develops, or challenges conventions of real media. The student followed several conventions in their magazine: using a masthead in the same spot on the cover and contents page; employing a color scheme of black, white, and red typical of rock magazines; using edgy fonts similar to the genre; featuring studio shots as the main image on pages as most music magazines do. However, the student also challenged some conventions by including two action shots on the contents page alongside a studio shot, offering more variety than typical magazines.
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.
As Europe's leading economic powerhouse and the fourth-largest hashtag#economy globally, Germany stands at the forefront of innovation and industrial might. Renowned for its precision engineering and high-tech sectors, Germany's economic structure is heavily supported by a robust service industry, accounting for approximately 68% of its GDP. This economic clout and strategic geopolitical stance position Germany as a focal point in the global cyber threat landscape.
In the face of escalating global tensions, particularly those emanating from geopolitical disputes with nations like hashtag#Russia and hashtag#China, hashtag#Germany has witnessed a significant uptick in targeted cyber operations. Our analysis indicates a marked increase in hashtag#cyberattack sophistication aimed at critical infrastructure and key industrial sectors. These attacks range from ransomware campaigns to hashtag#AdvancedPersistentThreats (hashtag#APTs), threatening national security and business integrity.
🔑 Key findings include:
🔍 Increased frequency and complexity of cyber threats.
🔍 Escalation of state-sponsored and criminally motivated cyber operations.
🔍 Active dark web exchanges of malicious tools and tactics.
Our comprehensive report delves into these challenges, using a blend of open-source and proprietary data collection techniques. By monitoring activity on critical networks and analyzing attack patterns, our team provides a detailed overview of the threats facing German entities.
This report aims to equip stakeholders across public and private sectors with the knowledge to enhance their defensive strategies, reduce exposure to cyber risks, and reinforce Germany's resilience against cyber threats.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
In my magazine, I used a masterhead on my cover page and contents page. I placed it in
the same place on both pages, this is a convention that most magazines use like NME. It
shows the reader what the magazine and by using it on my contents page as a substitute
for the word ‘contents’ it makes the magazine seem more professional, also allowing the
reader to identity what the page is themselves by looking at it. My masterhead was in a
distinct font on each page that no other text was in. This was to make it stand out as the
name of the magazine and to draw attention to it on the cover page. My masterhead
was also black to contrast the white background. This is also a common convention of a
music magazine.
Another convention that I followed in my magazine was the colour scheme. I used a
colour scheme of black, white and red which is typical of a rock/indie/alternative
magazine. This colour scheme makes the magazine fit the genre of music by adding a
rough and grungy look to the magazine. Magazines like Kerrang also use similar colour
schemes. On my cover and contents page, I involved red to make certain coverlines
stand out to the reader so that it draws their attention. The fonts I used in my magazine
are all also similar to the genre of the magazine. They are all edgy and distorted
matching the vibe of the magazine. I used a few different fonts to add variation and this
is similar to other rock magazines to attract the audience. The main text I used was
“Beboline” which was across all of my pages. I used this for my masthead so that the
magazine is recognisable to the audience and so that there is familiar font on all of the
pages. Many rock magazines also do this.
2. Throughout my magazine, the majority of my photographs were studio shots as the
main image on each page. This is also a common convention of music magazines. This is
because it is a more professional view. I used direct address in most of my images so
that the actors are directly looking into the camera. This makes the audience feel more
connected to the magazine and invites them in. Most magazines do this so that people
buy their magazine. My double page spread does follow common conventions though as
I have used a couple of studio photographs, one on each page, and made the text flow
around the images. The article is also about a band and the full band is pictured. Which
is also common. However, my contents page has a studio shot but also two other images
that are action shots. This strays from the common convention as many magazines use a
mix of studio shots. I did this because I feel that it makes my magazine more interesting
and allows the reader to see a variety of shots.
