2. leadership team, 63 ICF members, 23 Associates,
fabulous new President for next year (best wishes
Grace!), new Committee Chairs (thank you Karen,
Lisa and Lucy), plus new members, new friends and
coaches, and old friends and coaches moving back.
The Ignite Initiative - thank you Lisa and our
volunteer coaches. The SHRM Conference - thank you
Ildi, Gillian and all those who helped. Our social
media – thank you Kelly, Gillian and Kristy. Great
monthly programs, and we have more to come! The
upcoming Alliance Mixer is October 17 and then, the
last monthly events to round out 2018.
Pretty darn good for a little chapter in New Mexico!
A cooler breeze comes in the morning with chamisa,
sunflower, coreopsis, rabbit bush and Aspen, which
are all glowing gold. It is time to put in or simply
think about new shrubs and trees for next year. What
shall we plant? What shall we do?
Winter will come soon enough. I invite you now to
rest, slow or hunker down, let your roots grab hold
and gather energy for next year. Perhaps to
celebrate. Perhaps to ponder. To ask – What are your
needs? How can our chapter support you? What can
we do different? In what direction shall we go forward
in 2019? Shhhhhh. No answers, no solutions needed
yet - just the pondering and the consideration of
seeds to plant.
Consider this: Push the edges of yourselves as a
chapter and as coaches. Have faith that you are, as
we see our clients, healthy, creative and resourceful.
Have faith that your ideas and inspiration have merit
and indeed will bloom, regardless how showy or how
subtle. You have a brand new leadership team with a
full slate of board and committee members. It has
been several years since this has happened. If there
was ever a chance for ICF NM to experience new
growth, it comes for 2019.
To be sure, spring will follow soon enough. The first
hyacinths will peek out and their heady sweet
fragrance will linger by your doorstep to remind you it
is time to do the work.

IGNITE
Update
We've completed our first Ignite project with
Communities in Schools (CIS) New Mexico! We
want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Renée
Gregorio, Agnes Mura, Jean Strosinski and Kristy
Sweetland for coaching CIS NM's leaders. We couldn’t
have done it without them! We’re gathering data from
CIS and our coaches regarding the project and would
love to hear from you too!
Do you have an interest in partnering with a New
Mexico organization in 2019 to coach their
leadership?
How would you like to be involved?
Please send your thoughts to Lisa Brewer:

RECAP OF PROGRAMS:
SEPTEMBER
September 2018 - "Storytelling in Coaching"
Matilde Machiavello
Matilde Machiavello delivered
“Storytelling in Coaching” on
September 4, 2018. Matilde was
interactive and humorous in her
engagement with participants,
and of course had stories of her
own to share. Attendees learned the distinction between a
story and storytelling and when or how stories might be
useful in interacting with a client. A practical exercise of
thinking of a motivational story for a client who seems to
be unable to move forward or shows a lack of energy or
resources to reach a desired goal was challenging and
stretched the learners. Feedback indicated participants
5. resonated with either creating stories, telling stories, or
wanting to hear more stories from others. May we all find
deeper connection through stories!
