1. August 2016
Message from Greg Aden
2016 President
Greetings from your leadership team of
ICF-CO. Thanks to those who made it out to
Washington Park for the Summer Picnic in the
park. We had a nice turnout inclusive of
friends, spouses and kids. A special thanks to
Monica and Jacquie for all of your hard work
in preparing for the event. I had a blast
running the grill full of burgers and more.
Please make plans to join fellow members
and our partners at NSA-CO and ATD-RMC at
the Summer Network Event on Tuesday,
August 23rd at the Lakewood Country Club.
The venue is comfortable, and the food will
be fabulous. Did I mention live music and fun networking events? I
hope to see many of you there. Bring a friend or colleague with you
and show them who we are when we let our hair down a bit.
P.S. I will be raffling off a free ticket to the Fall Conference at the
August 23rd event, so don't miss this event!

re-start in September. Join us for our monthly speaker,
mini-presentations, and special interest groups.
Date: September 8, 2016
6. Time: 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Speaker: Rick Shaum
Topic: "Using EQ for Business Development Success"
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will be conducted from 6:00 -
6:50pm before the general meeting.
Location:
Lowry Conference Center | 1061 Akron Way, Building 697, Denver,
CO 80230
How does a lack of emotional intelligence (EQ) skills impact business
development (BD) results? Most professional coaches have been
trained in "hard selling" skills. Yet this training doesn’t always lead
to success in actual sales situations.
How do we improve in "the real world?" I believe that incorporating
an EQ awareness into the sales process helps professionals improve
their business development efforts. In this workshop I’ll explore how
to use EQ:
• To create a systematic discovery process that will improve
business development results.
• To deal with price objections without discounting.
• To differentiate yourself from competitors.
• To get an audience with the real decision maker.
This workshop is based on the book, Emotional Intelligence for Sales
Success by Colleen Stanley. Rick is a certified trainer for
SalesLeadership based in Lakewood, CO.
About Our Speaker, Rick Shaum:
Rick Shaum's sales training and coaching
practice is built on the foundation of solid
corporate business experience, spanning
several decades, where he established a
solid reputation as a results-oriented
personal producer, executive leader and
developmental coach.
Previously, Rick served as SVP—Sales and
Marketing for a Canadian based private
equity portfolio company in the travel
industry. As SVP – Sales and Marketing, he
was responsible for an international sales
and marketing effort that developed more
than five thousand client relationships in more than fifty countries.
Rick’s diverse business background has resulted in direct sales
experience in a variety of industries including advertising, directory
publishing, real estate, printing, office machines, training, consulting
and financial services. He “speaks the language of the C-Suite” and
is able to coach both sales producers and sales executives.
Rick earned a Bachelor’s degree in Religion & Psychology from
Vanguard University in southern California and his Master’s degree
in Speech Communication from the University of New Mexico.
