Q&A WITH
SANTO CHISOLM, CPA
DELIVERY MANAGER
Insights into Santo’s team in MCA Connect’s
Delivery Services Organization (DSO)
PLEASE GIVE US A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF
WHAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A GOOD CONSULTANT.
What I look for in a good Dynamics AX consultant is their personal skills. The skills to command the
room, lead the conversation and put action plans in place at the end of the meeting. To me those
are signs of a good consultant that can get the customer where they want to go in the future.
GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF WHAT THE
DAY TO DAY IS LIKE FOR A MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM.
We are customer focused every day, and from the time we get
on site, our main goal is to execute against the published
agenda, and help the customer transform their business to the
D365 platform using BEST industry practices and processes.
WHAT’S THE CULTURE LIKE WITHIN
THE TEAM AND DEPARTMENT?
I have one word for this question…Family. We really feel like family, and our dedication to help
each other starts from the top down. I remember having the President of our company (Claude)
help me understand cross-docking concepts. Claude had no issue what-so-ever taking the time
out of his day to give me some direction on that topic and that’s how we all function day to day.
It’s absolutely great to see when a email goes out to the group with a functional, technical, or just a
soft skills question…how many responses you get and how fast they come in. Just like if you had a
family member get sick, how many folks come to their aide.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES?
COMPANY/GROUP OPPORTUNITIES?
We are always trying to improve. We schedule
quarterly methodology reviews, we have a
Manager In Training program for those looking
to manage and we now have a Functional
Center of Excellence program that allows us to
bring individuals into the world of consulting.
It’s a 10- week hands on process that will get
the participants up to speed on methodology,
D365, and consulting skills. We also have a
Solution Architect in Training program where it
allows Senior Consultants to get to that next
step of managing the D365 Solution for our
customers. In addition, we have Delivery
Managers that check in on every active project
to give feedback, review and help the teams
achieve greatness!
WHAT IS YOUR MANAGEMENT STYLE LIKE?
I’m right in the middle, I think. I like to give folks a chance to lead and be their own person. I
don’t micro-manage at all. Building a solid consulting practice starts with the consultants. I like to
give consultants the tools and advice and let them run with it. Their personality is what customers
buy into. Think about it! If you were dealing with a consultant that was always in a bad mood,
negative or was like a robot just going through the implementation steps…you would probably not
be that excited to work with them daily. On the other hand just think if you had an energetic,
motivated consultant that challenged you and the business and was in your corner to help
transform your business in a positive manner. My management style is to bring that consultant
out. Don’t stop being an individual. At the end of the day we try to have lots of fun and deliver
high quality solutions.
