Attracting my target audience
meant that my magazine
conventions would need to exactly
how they have been portrayed. I
imagined myself as putting myself
into the target audience shoes,
finding out what they really would
like to hear and read. I see myself as
a contending participant of the
target audience as I feel the target
audience around me that have the
same taste in music would non
doubtfully enjoy what the content of
the magazine is and how it is being
produced.
From looking at the front cover on shop shelves I
would take interest in front cover image, and
would see the direct nature of the image.
However from being the creator I had problems
along the way the contrast of the image wasn’t
working due to the normality of the colour of the
picture, even though the image captured a lot of
light and directly shown. I felt in order to reach
out to my target audience and create a more
quirky image to catch eyes, I changed the hue and
colour contrast of the image through the use of
Photoshop and manipulated the stereotypical
nature of young teens having the colour ‘pink’.
Although I found from my magazine research the
extracts of explosion of colour onto an image and
front cover can really catch eyes and attract a
certain stylish approach for target audience to
say it is attractive.
The language used throughout the magazine is very field specific towards the music
industry, I used the language from other similar established magazines that have a similar
target audience but then infusing a genre style through the eyes of the artist. The language
within the terminology in terms of gender dictate the target audience of young teens
however within reference to fashion segments such as closer for example a partnering
media company who has publishing terms with, as they have a similar audience of age
range and gender I felt it was appropriate and fitting to take look at this magazine and
decide through the language the distinction between fashion and music how still sticking to
the aim of target audience. I also found that having language that is relatable and in terms
of a guide such as a biblical reference of music genre that is feature of the mainstream at
the present time of issue.
Also in representation of language I feel
the most use of language is illustrated
in my double page spread and contents,
revealing the exclusive highs and lows
of the industry and the up and coming
artists. This allows the audience to have
a first insight into latest and creates a
topic conversation within the social
group forms from the magazine. Within
the text of the double page spread from
the artist I feel I used questions that
would get the most out of the artist in a
realistic interview, also using a
quotation from the interview as the
title.
I feel a lot of the target audience feel that
they are still being classed as a young teen
but would usually find that they are mature
blossoming women in the making and
through terms of the artist stepping up a
different sound on a record can make their
target audience see them as a more mature
and representative of young WOMEN. Also
the stage of stepping up as a young women
process can be difficult for some and
confined in music to relax and mature.
Within icons featured in the issue this can
state the belonging and common ground of
matters within the target audience.
