Q4
1. How did you use media technologies
in the construction, research and
planning and evaluation stages?
2. Adobe Premier
Adobe Premier was used to create
and edit the final music video. When
editing we used video effects and
video transitions for example cross
dissolves and colour balance to allow
the video to look as professional as
possible . We came across some
problems at first with rendering and
exporting in the correct settings to
get the best possible quality –
however after extensive research we
were able to resolve the problem
and finish the video.
3. Adobe Premier Effects
* Used within this screenshot
*brightness and contrast was
* The Opacity video effect used in all shots making the
allowed the clip to become clip more dark and colours
more transparent and more more deep to suit the mood of
like flashback the video.
* The Tint video effect gave the
clip the greyscale style look
used in flashbacks
The cross
dissolve video * The colour balance video
transition used effect allowed me to alter the
gave the cuts a colours of clips – this is what
much more gives the clip the distinctive
interesting look
The additive dissolve video blue/cold look.
and also helped
transaction gives a very nice to re enforce the
effect as it adds the colour difference
form the second clip into the between * The posterize video effect allowed
current clip then – almost flashback scenes me to stagger the flashback scenes
like a gradual change and other shots. - so it doesn’t look like real time
4. Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop was used to create the ancillary tasks – CD front , back, inlay
and poster designs. Using layers, text fonts and image effects, for example black
and white, I was able to bring all designs together and create a strong brand
identity. Tools like eraser, filling tool and lasso tool helped to crop and show the
parts of images we wanted to show neatly and professionally. The only problems I
faced when creating these were when Photoshop freezes and its speed slows
down due to the amount of layers and effects applied to the canvas. Apart from
those small problems I thoroughly enjoyed using this software. Moving from my
AS level I believe I have leant the skill of layout and composition and how
Photoshop can help you to neatly layout text for example by using the shape tool
and then text tool on top of a shape will allow you to type into the shape –
allowing all text to be keep contained and precisely aligned.
5. SlideShare
Slide share was used to upload my presentations made on Microsoft
PowerPoint , used to show my research and development – it provided
us with the chance to embed our presentations into other sites we may
have – which in this case was my blog. I found it extremely helpful and
effective allowing me to present my work in a more interesting way and
will definitely be using it in the near future.
6. Blogger
Blogger was the medium in which I logged all stages of this production
online allowing me to collect both secondary and primary sources and
use them together effectively for example my ancillary tasks and
previous artist album work to analyse. It helped me, along with its
mobile app, to constantly keep up to date with the project as you can
access it wherever and whenever you like on your smart phone.
7. Adobe Illustrator
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the artist logo where I used line,
anchor points and the arc tools to get the final result – although this
process was time consuming and wasn’t asked to do – I believe that that
it paid off and helped to give the ancillary designs a more professional
feel to it.
8. GarageBand
To mix the voice recordings, recorded on my smart phone for the intro
and ending speech, I used garageband. This allowed me to mix each
sound clip together smoothly – I enjoyed playing around with the effects
on this software for example on the voice recordings I added extra echo
to give it a more atmospheric emotive feeling.
9. Youtube
You tube has been a great help with this project as it
has allowed me to research existing music videos and
constantly relate back to them throughout. It has also
been a platform for me to post my video files such as
the vox pops and the final music video.
10. Production Equipment
The still camera was My video camera
a great use and was we used was lucky
used to take photos HD and allowed the
for the ancillary footage to be at a

possible images and compact size
made it so easy to
transport.
The tri-pod help us
whilst filming, The portable lights
especially on very help to light up the
cold winder days, to internal scenes –
keep the camera giving it a more
very still and cinematic look
allowed us to pan rather than relying
with the performer on the natural/
professionally . house lighting.
Editor's Notes
This is good. Now do the same to provide evidence of other key functions used to create specific effects. Max of 7 stills on video editing should be used if possible.
Add another slide and explain how your Photoshop skills have developed from your AS production work e.g. is there anything specific that you are better at now?
Only other things to discuss is the production equipment you used: still camera, video camera, tripod, lights etc. Add photos.
