Coyote mint is a perennial sub-shrub native to Northern California and the Sierra Nevada foothills. It grows 1-2 feet tall and 2-4 feet wide, with many erect square stems bearing small fragrant leaves. From May to August it produces lavender, rose, or white flowers in dense heads that are showy for a native mint. Coyote mint is drought tolerant and attracts pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies, making it suitable for gardens, slopes, and containers where its fragrance can be enjoyed.
