The survey of 157 Greek primary school pupils found that: 1) Most pupils felt positive emotions like pleasure and joy from the activities of the Erasmus+ project. 2) Half of pupils played and worked during the activities, showing an enjoyable and beneficial combination. 3) 84% of pupils believed they learned things during the hands-on, active learning activities, in line with educational theorists like Piaget and Bruner.

2. Survey’s Results and Statistical Αnalysis
This survey of 157 pupils, from 1st to 4th grade, was conducted in
June, 2018 by the 18th Primary School of Rhodes, Greece.
This survey, is a part of a midterm evaluation, which aim is to gain
insights to the implementation and impact of the project activities
of our school.

3. 1. The proposed activities around the Erasmus project
made you feel:
Most of our pupils felt
positive emotions like
pleasure and joy (92%)
during the activities they got
involved around our
Erasmus project.

4. 2. During these activities, you have:
The half pupils of our school
(50%) during the project’s
activities answered that they
played and worked, which is a very
good educational combination and
shows the enjoyable and
beneficial side of the activities.
Additional, the 45% of our pupils
who answered that they played
only, shows us that they enjoyed a
lot their participation in these
activities.

5. 3. Did you learn something during these activities?
The 84% of our pupils believe
that during the activities of
our Erasmus’ project learned
things. And this is important
and true and in accordance
with the theory of Jean
Piaget and Jerome Bruner,
who said that ‘the best way to
teach kids, is through hands-
on, active learning’.

6. 4. Did you remember the things you learned during these
activities:
The hands-on activities and the
active learning promotes the ability
to learn deeply and meaningfully. In
this way the 36 % of our pupils
support that they can remember
more easily and the 38% easily the
things they learned.

7. 5. Did you learn better thanks to the cooperative work?
The 65% of our pupils have
agreed, and the 29% of them had
a positive attitude towards the
learning outcome, that working
with others, they strengthen their
own learning and enhance their
own understanding.

8. 6. Do you pay more attention when you’re learning
through play?
There isn't much that keeps a child's
attention better than a task which turn
into a game.
And this have been understood by our
pupils and for this reason the 80% has
said “yes” at this question.

9. 7. Do you remember the lesson more easily through
play?
The 75% of our pupils said that
though play they have the ability
to enhance their memory skills
and this have helped them with
their school lessons. Playful
behavior appears to have
positive effects on the brain and
on a child’s ability to learn.

10. 8. Can this Erasmus project help you learn better at
school?
The positive responses on this
question (59% & 34%) by our
pupils shows that they learnt things
related to our Erasmus project
“GAME” and the countries of our
partners. They learnt to
communicate with pupils from
other countries, to exchange cards,
to discover games and new
methods of learning through
playing.

11. 9. Did you discover other countries’ games?
Most of our school kids, the 84%,
have discovered our partners‘
games because the Erasmus
school team tried to incorporate
them in the school curriculum
during all the school year 2017-
2018. Additional, our pupils had
the opportunity to play these
games during the Open Erasmus
Events which our school had
organized due to our project.

12. 10. Did this project give you a sense of belonging to a
European community?
This project through the
cooperation of different
school organizations and
diverse cultures has
promoted the sense of
belonging to a European
community to the 66% of
our pupils and “a little” to
the 22%.

13. Conclusions
Our pupils during the activities of our Erasmus’ project:
• felt positive emotions (92%)
• played and worked
• learned things
• remembered more easily the things they learned.
• strengthen their own learning by cooperative work
• paid attention better to a playful activity
• enhanced their memory skills through play
• learnt better at school
• discovered our partners‘ games
• adopted the sense of belonging to a European community
