  Homework Assignment
Who is your character?
• Puck (also known as Robin Goodfellow) is a
mischievous fairy who loves to play practical
jokes and can take them too far sometimes.
What type of character is he?
• Puck is antagonist as he confused Demetrius
for Lysander and put the magical love potion
on him essentially flipping the play over
causing all the conflict through out the play.
He does the same to the fairy queen making
her fall in love with bottom a person that puck
has replaced its head for an ass.
What type of play is it?
• It is definitely a comedy as the jokes Puck
plays on some characters are quite funny. This
is when he makes Bottom face of one of an
  ass
• It also could be a romantic play as well as with
everyone falling in love with each other.
• It’s a supernatural play , as most of the main
  characters are magical fairies.
When and Where?
• The play is set in an forest where the magical
fairy kingdom is based with the king Oberon
  and the queen Titania.
• The play was written around 1590 to 1596.
What is the conflict during the play?
Person vs. supernatural: this type conflict during
the play is caused as the conflict between people
and puck and his fairy friends in the forest
Person vs. person: the lovers in this play are all over
the place as Puck put the magical love potion on
the wrong person and the lovers fight over each
other. The women were getting extremely jealous
even thought originally they were very close. “O,
when she’s angry, she is keen and shrewd” is what
Helena when see describes Hermia as she tells the
men of her rage.
What is the main point of conflict
• The main point of conflict is person vs.
supernatural or person vs. puck . Puck
causes all the conflict through out the play. He
causes the men to fall in love with the same
girls. Oberon his master , annoyed in how
puck mucked up. Puck also cause conflict
between bottom as he changes his face to one
  off an donkeys face.
Structure
• Exposition : The king is having four days of celebration before his big
  wedding.
• The exciting force : Hermia’s father wants her to marry Demetrius but she
wants to marry Lysander as they are in love
• Rising action : Her father takes her to the king to be punished (as it was
the law to marry your fathers chosen man). The king stated that she had
till the end off his wedding to decide over Lysander or Demetrius
• Turning point : Lysander and Hermia decide to run away to the forest.
• Catastrophe : Titanium wakes up and sees Bottom falling in love with him ,
as Puck had placed the magical love potion on het eyelids .
• Conflict : When both Lysander and Demetrius love Helena , and them
rejecting Hermia. The two young men will then fight for Helenas love , but
puck realising it had gone to far makes them chase each other further into
the forest, and therefore they are both lost in the meddle of the forest by
  them selves !
DESCRIBRE

• Puck is practical joker and a loves to play jokes
on all the characters through out the play. A
good example is when he changes bottoms
head to one of an ass.
• The trill of the joke and the humility he causes
  the other characters.
• He disrespects and plays jokes on everyone
but his master Oberon. He is Oberon’s jester
and servant. Oberon will deal to Puck toward
  the end.
EXPLAIN
• Puck does not change through out the play
only when he sees that his joke has gotten out
out of hand and that he needs to change his
mistake back be for Oberon his master finds
  out.
• Puck is the main driver of conflict in the play
he is one of the main characters, in my
opinion with out him the play would be
nothing but a short happy ending.
DESCRIBE
• Puck being the practical joker he is
  he doesn’t learn from this
happening but he laugh's at the
  memory's of his encounters.
.Puck may have lost the trust of his
master but he gain the memories of those
  funny encounters

answer when the fairy asks him
• I’ll put a girdle round about the earth in fortey
minutes.—Puck describes the swiftness of his
journey to fetch the magical flower.
