the trailer it could suggest that either she
shoots or she gets shot?
A crack is drawn
across his eye which
is symbolic for the
hypnosis he
receives – as the
eyes are known for
being the ‘window
to the soul’, the fact
he has a crack over
his eyes suggests
that he’s broken
and weak mentally
– maybe there’s
something in the
past that has made
him vulnerable and
therefore able to be
hypnotised.
This angle could
insinuate the finale of
the film, the low angle
gives him power which
suggests he wins the
conflict in the narrative.
It could also be a point of
view shot from the deer
that was hit in the trailer
as he goes to show
sympathy to him, this
shot could symbolise
how he is going to do the
deer justice or maybe
how to get revenge?
The use of sans serif
font suggests
something friendly or
modern as its easier to
read. However the fact
that its’s printed in
white against a black
background
counteracts this
suggestion and again
shows the narrative
and its themes
through this; at first
the family seem
welcoming, however
their actions
contradict this. This is
reinforced through the
slogan too.
Release date is near school
holidays and on a Friday – this was
used to attract a wider audience
(15-25) as they would typically
have the weekend off. It was used
as a marketing strategy to increase
viewing /ticket purchases
Jordan Peele features on the
poster as audiences will recognise
his work on previous blockbusters,
comedy work and TV appearances.
