PMP OVERVIEW
Many organizations today have new or renewed interest in project
management.
– Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential is the most
widely recognized certification for project managers in the profession
from Project Management Institute (PMI).
– PMP® Certification credential demonstrates that you have the
experience, education and competency to successfully lead and direct
projects.

associate's degree or
global equivalent
Minimum five years/60 months unique non
overlapping professional project management
experience during which at least 7,500 hours were
spent leading and directing project tasks*
35 contact hours of formal

Minimum three years/36 months unique non-
overlapping professional project management
experience during which at least 4,500 hours were
spent leading and directing project tasks*.
Please note that proof of your experience only needs
to be provided if your application is audited by PMI
(approximately 10% are audited). If you are audited,
PMI will asked for a signed letter from your supervisor
for every project you list as your experience.
Therefore, it is suggested that you try to list your
experience under as few supervisors as possible.

*Leading and directing project tasks as identified in the Project Management Professional Examination Specification.
Within the total hours of project management experience, experience in all five process groups is required. However,
on a single project, you do not need to have experience in all five process groups.
