Proverbs 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the
mouth of the foolish is near destruction (ruin).
How do we lay up knowledge?
Listen, learn and remember.
Don’t talk foolishness.
3
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the
destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Most rich men put their trust in their wealth.
They feel safe because they have plenty.
So many poor folks think their problems would be
solved by having more money.
Not so! Both are deceived.
4
1 Timothy 6 6 But godliness with contentment is
great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this
world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith
content.
Ecclesiastes 2 11 Then I looked on all the works that
my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had
labored to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vex-
ation of spirit, and there was no profit under the
sun.
Contentment is a choice; a mindset.
The more one has and the more he does,
The more the vexation he endures.
5
16 The labor of the righteous tendeth to life: the
fruit of the wicked to sin.
(TLB) 16 The good man’s earnings advance the
cause of righteousness. The evil man squanders his
on sin.
Do we do a drug addict or an alcoholic any good
when we give them money?
Does what they earn bring blessings upon them?
Never!
They waste it on sin.
6
17 He is in the way of life
that keepeth instruction: but
he that refuseth reproof
erreth.
If you don’t use a roadmap to travel
you will get lost.
Anyone with you will be lost too.
The Holy Bible teaches us The Way
to go for blessing.
7
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that
uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Two kinds of lying
Hypocrisy is deceit and usually with a purpose; the
hypocrite hides his hatred in hope of gain.
He hopes to use that person in some way.
To slander is to speak evil of someone falsely.
We should speak only good.
8
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin:
but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
The more we talk the more the opportunity for sin:
James 1 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let
every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to
wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the
righteousness of God.
9
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the
heart of the wicked is little worth. 21 The lips of the
righteous feed many: but fools die for want of
wisdom.
Heart = feelings, will, and intellect.
The just and wise can not only live a good life, but
can also teach others how to live a good life.
They study and pray to know.
A fool’s life is a total waste.
A fool may be very intelligent; wasted.
10
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and
He addeth no sorrow with it.
When a person sets out to make himself
rich, he may get it, but sorrow will come with it.
Donald Trump has certainly made a lot of
money, but has been through two messy
divorces, and is living with his third wife.
He had three children with his first wife, one with
his second, and one with his third.
That doesn’t sound like happiness to me.
11
What we attain with God’s blessings
does bring happiness.
John 15 10 If ye keep My Commandments, ye shall
abide in My Love; even as I have kept My Father's
Commandments, and abide in His Love. 11 These
things have I spoken unto you, that My Joy might
remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man
of understanding hath wisdom. 24 The fear of the
wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of
the righteous shall be granted. 25 As the whirlwind
passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous
is an everlasting foundation. 26 As vinegar to the
teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard
to them that send him.
