This document is a sermon that discusses the differences between wise and foolish people based on passages from Proverbs and other books of the Bible. It makes the following key points:
1. A wise person listens to good teaching and lives accordingly, works hard, is honest, chooses good friends, and rejects those who would lead them astray.
2. A foolish person is unreliable, can't be trusted, rejects godly wisdom and friends, acts without thinking of consequences, and is self-centered.
3. The righteous who follow God will have their needs provided for and find contentment, while the wicked will never be satisfied no matter what they have.
It is important to know that God made us to have emotions, therefore, having emotions in itself, is not a sin. However, if we are not careful, satan can manipulate our emotions, such as anger, and cause us to hate or kill another person! Satan can lead one to believe that the lust they have is really “love,” justifying acts of adultery, fornication and sodomy.
We are living in the days where great faith is needed to survive in this world. I often cringe when I look at the news. What do we have to look forward to? Today, we face a volatile economy, with the dow plunging more than 2,300 points on this past Thursday and deemed to be the worst day on Wall Street since 1987 (they are said to have rebounded from the plunge). There is a global crisis, a pandemic, as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, topping out at 125,000 cases globally. The world is in a sheer panic with consumers buying items such as, toilet paper and hand sanitizer in bulk and major events, schools and entertainments venues shutting down. As for our political climate, well, Trump is our president. I will leave it at that. Violence and Sodomy, as we know, continues to run rampant. Not to mention the natural disasters we face. This list goes on and on.
The greatest call for Christian moms is to know God and help others know Him, too. The readings in this 8-day plan are selected from the Mom's Bible: God's Wisdom for Mothers offering encouragement and a wise perspective as you seek to grow in the area of patience and godly character.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Proverbs 10 1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son
maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the
heaviness of his mother.
This is not teaching that a mother is not glad
when her son is wise; nor that a father is not
grieved when his son is foolish.
Both parents are affected the same.
3. 3
A wise son or daughter (of God) is one who listens
to sound teaching and lives life accordingly.
He or she is industrious, doing good work. ch6
Honest and upright in dealings.
Chooses good friends and rejects those who would
lead him astray.
We have studied all of this in the
first nine chapters of Proverbs.
4. 4
A foolish person is undependable, can’t be trusted,
rejects godly friends and the Way of God.
He doesn’t think ahead to the trouble he is chasing.
He is self-centered, thinking only of what he wants.
He may not know it, but this person is
self-destructive, destroying his own life.
5. 5
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but
righteousness delivereth from death.
Ill-gotten gain may bring pleasure for a while,
but does not bring lasting happiness or peace.
Ecclesiastes 5 12 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet,
whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the
rich will not suffer him to sleep.
Ecclesiastes 5 18 Behold that which I have seen: it is
good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to
enjoy the good of all his labor that he taketh under the
sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it
is his portion.
6. 6
(NIV) 3 The LORD does not let the righteous go
hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
Life is all about the Lord -- His salvation, His
healing, His Provision, His Word, His Holy Spirit.
The righteous may not be wealthy, but his needs
will be supplied abundantly and he will be content.
The wicked will always crave more, no matter how
much he has.
7. 7
4 He becometh poor (destitute) that dealeth with a
slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich
(to accumulate).
There is more to diligence than working hard.
Working
smart
Managing
well
Looking
ahead
Saving for
future need
Looking ahead and preparing can include
education, training, OJT
learning to do a job that’s worth something.
8. 8
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he
that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
When the Lord provides work to do, work hard.
A good worker will be early, dependable, eager.
When there is not work to do, improve your skill.
Prepare yourself for a better job
than you can get now.
9. 9
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but
violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
This refers more to what he does, how he behaves,
Than to what he receives in life.
A righteous man speaks and gives blessings.
Galatians 5 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: …
This is the character God produces in the righteous.
10. 10
A wicked man is all about violence:
He speaks words of violence;
His thoughts are violent;
His actions are violent.
Proverbs 16 32 He that is slow to anger is better
than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he
that taketh a city.
11. 11
But know this: blessing begets blessing
And violence begets violence.
Galatians 6 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap. … 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for
in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Never give up; never quit.
12. 12
Luke 6 31 And as ye would that men should do to
you, do ye also to them likewise.
