Editor's Notes

  • #2 Acknowledge country, the people, the spirits & elders Hope that I behave in a way that honours them & honours my people Introduction Self – Kullilli Stronger Smarter – belief that we all have a story, today I’d like to share our story with you
  • #3 Our work is born from our founder Chris Sarra & the work he was able to do at Cherbourg SS Chris was able to achieve some great outcomes Today we continue this work through the SSI where we deliver the SSLP This quote speaks to the core of our work & the SS approach…no matter where you go or where you look there is always strength. And that’s where we will always start the conversation
  • #4 We’ve been able to articulate the SS philosophy to this…
  • #5 And broken down to 5 meta-strategies What’s important to know here is that this is not a secret recipe for success however in schools across the country that are achieving significant outcomes you will generally find these things happening
  • #6 We’ve done this through the SSLP We focus on transformational change, not incremental change, there’s a place for this but we focus on the latter We do this by looking in and looking out Creating change in ourselves as humans, as professionals, etc Creating change in our classrooms, schools, communities & homes
  • #7 Through our leadership program we have worked with school & community leaders over the past 10 years
  • #8 What does that look like? We’re fortunate enough & proud to have worked right across the country, in urban, regional, rural & some of the most remote communities in Australia
  • #9 I know I’m preaching to the converted when I talk about this, but this shows why we do what we do Go through diagram This leads us to 2 core beliefs that we carry at SSI 1 is that every student, every ATSI student should receive quality teaching & learning and a quality education – whatever that is 2 that everything we need is in our communities, we don’t need to look elsewhere for the answers when is comes to ed programs & teachers
  • #10 Proud to partner with MATSITI 2 key projects The delivery of a SSLP with Indigenous educators from across NSW 5 scholarships for Indigenous educators from throughout Australia to participate in our national SSLP held in Cherbourg
