Prothrombin complex concentrates (PCC) are plasma-derived products containing coagulation factors II, VII, IX and X. PCC are produced from plasma pools through ion-exchange chromatography and concentration, resulting in products with coagulation factor levels 25 times higher than plasma. PCC can be formulated as three-factor products containing factors II, IX and X, or four-factor products additionally containing factor VII. The main indications for PCC are urgent reversal of coagulopathy from vitamin K antagonist therapy in bleeding patients, and management of coagulopathy from direct factor Xa inhibitor bleeding. Dosing is based on individual coagulation factor levels and clinical condition. PCC preparation, administration, storage conditions and potential safety
