This proposal outlines a 5-week plan to create a music magazine. In week 1, the creator will research proposal ideas. Week 2 involves planning the magazine's content and layout. Weeks 3 and 4 focus on production, where the creator will write articles, design the cover and spreads using Photoshop. In week 5, the creator will evaluate their work by comparing it to similar magazines and earlier drafts, and seeking peer feedback. The magazine will feature genres that blend together, including an article about the creator's brother's band which crosses blues and rock. My audience will be mostlyon the younger side,I wouldn’tlike to specificallyaim to target a certain gender
but I would say16-25 would be my demographic as itwill be aboutmusic thatis popular within that age range
at the moment.I would like it to be informal so thatit is an easy read for the audience.
Rationale
I think that music is something Iwill always enjoy and have always enjoyed in a variety of different genres and
I think if there was a magazine to bring genres thatwork together into one place I think it would be very
beneficial.I’m incrediblypassionate aboutmusic and Ithink I will be able to write a good article on it. I also
think that music is an importantthing in society these days and a magazine aboutmusic is more within the
media for my target audience than anything else.
Project Concept
The conceptof my magazine will be music of different genres thatwork together to be brought together in one
magazine and I think there are so manypeople who don’tjustlike one specific genre of music Iwould like to
include both sub-genres and justgeneral genres in the magazine as I think it is importantto cover a lot of
ground.I will be covering a article on my brothers band as I often went to their shows and took pictures for
them lastyear and I think they are a good band to show a cross over of genres as they are heavy blues
based and are inspired bybands such as nirvana,black keys and the white stripes.I am also able to talk to
them as actual musicians with knowing them personally
Production Techniques
I won’tneed a lot of equipmentfor this project. I will need a mac with photoshop on to be able to make the
front cover and the double page spread to be able to make a better lay out and make sure that everything
works together within colour schemes etc.I will be using a lot of techniques Ihave already used within photo
shop and have learntwithin the pastfew months.
Evaluation
As for evaluation I will compare it to work similar to mine and will see which is better or worse and compare it
to test pieces thatI did to see how my work has improved.I will also ask for peer feedback to get positive and
critical feedback from other perspectives.
