1. Proposal
My magazine will include different types if music genre, these being genres such as indie, hip-hop, urban, R&B etc. I will include an opening page, contents page and
double page spread. On the opening page I will include sell lines and have a female model looking directly into the camera with a straight/serious face, similar to
Vibe magazines. I will include a big masthead saying ‘Vibe’, a barcode, price, website and issue number. On the contents page I will include an image of the same
female model but rather than focusing just on the face I will photograph more of the body and the model will not directly be facing the camera, this will be the
background of the page, I also will include columns about features and fashion, and the date. The colour scheme will similar to the front cover.
My target audience will be teenage girls, age range being 16-19. This is because the models included in my magazine will be feminine, however the magazine itself
will not be overly girly, more edgy/indie/hip-hop. The class I will be aiming my magazine towards is the ABC1. This is because I aim to target my audience to people
with disposable income, allowing them to happily purchase my magazine. The lower class may not be interested in purchasing magazines as they have other
priorities. I will include other subtitles about apps and subscribing, with a brief description underneath all subtitles. The contents page will include page numbers and
information as to what each page is about. My target audience is also mainstreamers/conformists as a lot of people listen to these different types of genre.
The publishing house I will use is Bauer Media. I will publish my magazine monthly and have an average of 4 pages. The audience will benefit from reading my
magazine as it will update them on current artists.
Representation
The artist (cover model) in will be looking directly at the camera with a serious face rather than smiling etc. The cover model will appeal to the younger
generation as the artist will be very current and modern, relevant to the teens themselves. The body language and attitude of the model will be casual,
mysterious and laid back. Any subtle jewellery worn will suggest wealth and is also attractive to the target audience as it is likely to be something they aspire to
have themselves. This is significant and relevant to the audience and the magazine as a music magazine. The artist will wear more casual clothing rather than
anything extraordinary suggesting that the artist is similar to her fans despite fame and wealth. In all vibe magazines artists are more casual and serious, this
will be a theme present in my magazine also.
