Propolis is a resinous material collected by honeybees from tree buds and used to seal their hives. It has wide-ranging healing properties and is used in traditional Chinese, Indian, and European medicine. Propolis contains various waxes, resins, essential oils, and pollen that give it antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects useful for treating wounds, ulcers, infections, and other ailments. Studies have found propolis can help treat conditions like tuberculosis, inflammation, and circulatory and immune system deficiencies. Propolis shows promise for treating numerous other diseases as well.

PROPOLIS IN ORAL HEALTH: A NATURAL REMEDYJing Zang
Propolis, a natural antibiotic is a resinous yellow brown to dark brown substance that honey bees collect from tree buds, sap flow, shrubs or other botanic sources. The pharmacologically active molecules in the Propolis are flavanoids and phenolic acids and their esters. Propolis has been used in dentifrices, as a storage medium for teeth that have avulsed, in periodontal therapy and in endodontic treatment. Propolis extract used as mouth rinse possesses anti microbial activity against streptococcus mutans present in the oral cavity. Subgingival irrigation with Propolis extract as an adjunct to periodontal treatment may also be more effective than scaling and root planning alone. It has promising role in future medicine as well as dentistry. Thus, switching back to natural resources, Propolis seems to be a promising alternative for the control of oral diseases in terms of anti microbial response and lower associated risk.
Propolis - The Natural Antibiotic against MRSA, Candida, and MoreBee Healthy Farms
Propolis is made from the resins of trees and other plants, gathered by honey bees and instinctively chosen for the active components contained within. They then modify it by adding enzymes and beeswax for use within the hive. Extensive research worldwide has found that these rich components of flavonoids, polyphenols and vitamins provide antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

Acute scrotum is a general term referring to an emergency condition affecting the contents or the wall of the scrotum.
There are a number of conditions that present acutely, predominantly with pain and/or swelling
A careful and detailed history and examination, and in some cases, investigations allow differentiation between these diagnoses. A prompt diagnosis is essential as the patient may require urgent surgical intervention
Testicular torsion refers to twisting of the spermatic cord, causing ischaemia of the testicle.
Testicular torsion results from inadequate fixation of the testis to the tunica vaginalis producing ischemia from reduced arterial inflow and venous outflow obstruction.
The prevalence of testicular torsion in adult patients hospitalized with acute scrotal pain is approximately 25 to 50 percent

Propolis
1. PROPOLIS: NATURE’S MEDICAL MIRACLE
Propolis is the sweet-smelling resin used by the bees as a sealing
compound in their hives. In Yoruba language, propolis is called Ida. It is thick,
viscous and jelly-like with wide spectrum of healing properties.
Propolis are used by honey bees for sealing the entrance to the hives
against drafts, for stopping up cracks and for maintaining illness free
environment. The pollen components of propolis adds to its efficacy and
potency in curing common ailments. Propolis is one of the products derivable
from bees hives.
The composition of propolis is very complex, including perhaps thirty
percent of various waxes, fifty-five percent resins and balsams, ten percent
ethereal oils and five per cent pollen. In addition, a whole series of unusual
compounds are present in small amounts.
The first clue as to the real advantages of propolis in scientific terms
was reported to have been established by a Frenchman, P.Lavie, who wrote
about the anti-bacterial substances found in bee colonies as far back as 1960.
He found that when propolis from hives was treated with hot water or alcohol,
it gave an antibiotic extract that remained stable for many months in a
refrigerator.
2. In China, India and Europe, propolis are dried, powdered and zealed
under different trademarks for household use. It is cure-all medicine that
shoud be included in every first-aid-box and medicine cabinet for its wide-range
application.
Propolis is good for prostate cancer and diabetes when used under
the expert prescription. Propolis can be used as gargle for dental care and
against fungal and yeast infections. According to a report, propolis is used to
treat nerve illness and ulcers. Also, it is good for the treatment of wound and
skin diseases by tropical application.
In 1968, the Russians in the study of Api-therapy reported that
propolis held tuberculosis and candidiasis in check. The Russians discovered
that propolis reduces blood-pressure and has a calming effect on the nervous
system. Coupled with this calming effect is a stimulating effect on the
processes of the regeneration of tissue. In essence, it is a good antioxidant.
Sovient literature cites a multitude of uses of propolis to include
healing of war injuries. Of course, propolis is remarkably effective on wounds
that were healing slowly especially after amputations.
3. Inflammations of the ear are often cured with propolis. It is used
in surgical operations for its anaesthetic property. After surgical
operations, regular intake of alcoholic extract of propolis remove pain
and hasten healing. Either in powdery or aqueous extract form, propolis
extract taken by mouth is frequently used to cure both gastric and
duodenal ulcers.
Again, propolis has been reported to be an excellent remedy for mouth
ulcers. A little dab of pure propolis tincture containing between two and
five per cent of propolis for two or three days generally cures mouth
ulcer completely.
A daily or twice daily application of propolis tincture is effective
for the treatment of warts and verrucae. Maurice Hanssen (2000) in the
book titled ‘’The Healing power of pollen and other products from the
beehive’’ reported that propolis heals acne, shingles, sinuses and disease
of the upper respiratory tract.
In specific terms, propoplis is good for the treatment of flu,
hormone imbalance, chicken pox, headache, parkinson’s disease,
influenza, urinary tract infection and lung diseases.
4. analyses of users report indicate that propolis is good for HIV/AIDS,
sinus congestion, swelling of throat, dental disease, eczema, sclerosis,
arthritis, insomnia, female infertility problems, heart disease and liver
disorder.
Propolis has equally been found to provide cure for gram
positive and gram negative infections. It is an excellent remedy for food
poisoning. A woman suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
may seek solace in the healing power of propolis.
Extensive study of uses of bees propolis shows its potency in
treating genital herpes, gout, hepatitis B, stomatitis and circulatory
deficiencies. A propolis gel is being used experimentally by dentists with
excellent results against gingivitis and pyorrhoea.
Propolis can be air-dried in a room temperature or be preserved
in the refrigerator. The shelf-life can extend to one to two years without
chemical preservation
