This project brief summarizes a study on how electronics suppliers manage partnerships with customers. The study will involve visiting firms in China, Taiwan, and Singapore to interview upstream component suppliers in the consumer electronics industry. The interviews will focus on learning about the key performance measures that suppliers use regarding customer satisfaction, selection, and allocation. Examples will be sought of different customer types and the nature of communications and requests. Questions will cover customer qualification processes, information exchanged for allocation decisions, and metrics used to manage the partnerships. The principal investigator is Professor Neale O'Connor of the University of Hong Kong along with co-investigators from Taiwan and the US. Current research themes include managing suppliers in China and using total cost of ownership for order allocations
