I. General Program Information:
Program Title : School-Based Training-Workshop on School
Paper Production
Program Description: A 5-day school-based training workshop
anchored on RA. 7079 dated July 5, 1991 and DECS
Order No. 94, s. 1992 dated August 19, 1992 for 30
Grades 3-6 learners which will be conducted at 4:00 –
5:00 PM every Friday of March 2024 through Face-to-
Face modality.
This activity aims to improve the journalistic skills
of learners; encourage critical and creative thinking
through various writing activities; strengthen ethical
values through responsible journalism; and develop
their moral character and personal discipline.
Prerequisite Programs: None required
Duration: March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2024
Management Level of Program School-based

Rationale:
As per Republic Act No. 7079 otherwise known as the Campus Journalism Act of
1991, “it is the declared policy of the State to uphold and protect the freedom of the press
even at the campus level and to promote the development and growth of campus
journalism as a means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative
thinking, and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth.” In
like manner, the Department of Education, through DECS Order No. 94, s. 1992 “shall
sponsor periodic competitions, press conferences and training seminars in which
student-editors/writers and teacher-adviser of student publications in the elementary,
secondary and tertiary levels shall participate.”
The five-day activity aims to improve the journalistic skills of learners while
promoting responsible and free journalism; encourage critical and creative thinking
through various writing activities; strengthen ethical values through responsible
journalism; and develop moral character and personal discipline.
