 Rice is the 2nd largest food crop in Pakistan.
 It is now a major export item according for 6.1% of total export.
 Earning over the last 5 years and contributes 1.2% to GDP.
 Rice holds an important position among the cash crops of Pakistan.
 It fulfills the food requirements of our country but we also earn a lot
of foreign exchange from its exports.
 Besides it is an important raw material for manufacturing grain as wel
as its husk is also used as fodder for cattle
 In 1947 Pakistan came into being and there were many
difficulties in the begning. There was no proper system of the
irrigation and shortage of the agricultural tools. So that the
production of rice in early ten years were very low. In Punjab
the yield of rice in these ten years were approximately 3036
tonnes , in Sindh yield was 4404 tonnes,in KPK 94 tonnes and

position and do the investment for agriculture. The yield of
rice in these years in Punjab was 5011 tonnes,in Sindh 5648
tonnes,in KPK 170 tonnes and in Balochistan 360 tonnes.
