The document describes the process of designing a contents page for a magazine. The designer started by centering the title and adding the main image in the top left corner. Dividers and section titles were added in purple to stand out on the black background. Images and text boxes were layered and positioned throughout the page. The designer experimented with rotations and overlays to create an aesthetically pleasing layout that effectively guides readers to the featured articles.
2. I started by adding the title of the
contents page around the centre of
the magazine so that I knew where
to layer the rest of the features.
3. I added the main image onto the
top left hand corner of the
magazine of the band in a different
setting.
4. I added a black border around the
image and added a black
background under the title so that I
can layer the text onto this and it
will look tidier on the page.
5. I added the editors note in
the top right hand corner
and experimented
rotating it and eventually
decided to have the box
tilted to the left and so
making it look different
compared to the upright
other features.
6. I added the dividers for the
features of the magazine in
purple and so standing out
against the black
background and I also
added an editors image to
make it more personal.
7. I experimented with the
cropped black and white image
to try to see whether I should
layer the dividers behind it or in
front, but I eventually decided
that the text should go on top
of him and so this is what it
looked like before I put the text
on. I also added another image
and rotated it slightly of
another artiste but layered it
behind the black and white
image.
8. I added the cover lines onto
the page and used white
font to make sure they stood
out. I used a black stroke so
that you could see them
over the image as well.
9. I added the page numbers to
the contents as well as
adding boxes next to each
image feature to show what
page they are on. I also
made the bottom right
image bigger and added a
stroke around the black and
white image so that it is
seen on top of the other
image and the overlap on
the title. I also used another
puff.
