LOCATION
The majority of my project will not have a specific location, as much of my footage will be of
gameplay is will be using recording footage on my laptop to capture gameplay, therefore I
suppose this filming will take place in my home in the village of Aldwark. However for other
parts of my filming, it will be taking place in York. I have chosen York because it is the
closest city to me and is most familiar to me for filming in, in addition to this there are
several location I desire to film in for live interviews. However I have emailed multiple
psychologists and therapists, not just in York but in places like Sheffield, each time all but
one has either not been able to help or has responded with silence, but even the one who
said they could made it clear they have very limited time, so a live interview may not even be
an option.
In short there are only two places in York that have confirmed they could do a live interview,
however this was the 'Sore thumbs' gaming shop and the 'Random encounters' gaming cafƩ
just next door. These are not psychologists or professionals though, which means they
cannot give a fully valid opinion and it will likely be biased. Therefore specifically it is likely
that filming will take place mainly on Gillygate in York. There is also however a mental
institution near to where I live, where I may be able to interview one of the doctors. In the
event however that non of the interviewees have the time for an interview, I will as a last
resort interview one of the teachers in my college who specialise in psychology for a

• Sore thumbs retro games (7 Gillygate, York YO31 7EA)
• After multiple attempts to make contact with every possible
therapist, psychologist, neurologist and psychiatrist in and around
York, I have been unsuccessful in getting a single one of them from
agreeing to take part in an interview and then continuing to keep in
contact with me for updates, as a result I will have to make do with
what I have at this current point in time. I will attach screenshots of
the emails as evidence of this. However there are a few therapists I
can't show the emails of, as I had to directly message them on their
own website.

TIME MANAGEMENT
Time is a pressing issue for my project as a large quantity of my video will hopefully consist
of live interviews, the issue with this is that those interviews are to be carried out with
distinguished minds in the field of psychology and biology. As a result of this they have
very little spare time of their hands and have even less to spend time on interviews, so far I
have already had silence from everyone I've emailed so I will have to change my approach
to this to make sure I have these interviews before I run out of time to do so.
Time with the equipment itself shouldn't be a huge issue, as I only need recording
equipment for a small part of the project, and because I am making a documentary, the
size of my team is also considerably smaller than if it were a film, concequentially I don't
have to concern myself as much with when my team is free as there is higher chance the
fewer schedules will line up.
All the same to help keep track of the time that already been consumed during production
to maximise efficiency, will be creating a strict production and cast call sheet so that there
is complete clarity on what needs to be done, who needs to be there to do it and when it
needs to be completed by.
TEAM + SUPPLY
My team will be very small, consisting of at most 3 people, including myself. The other two
people will be a presenter/narration to form the structure of the documentary, the other will
be a technician off camera to help me with audio while I film, to ensure everything continues
to run smoothly, as well help to look after the equipment that has been given to me to
prevent any damage. (I will include the teams' details in my call sheet) There will however
only be a handful of days where they are able to help me film as they have their own projects
to focus on, therefore I will have to draft a callsheet after finding their schedules out. I have
already handed my presenter/narrator a copy of the questions that I will have them ask in the
interviews, I will also be giving them a script for the narrative part of the documentary. Since I
am creating a documentary with few live action sequences, I will not be requiring costume
and the need for refreshments will be minimal.
FACILITIES
Any filming that takes place will be an interview, however lighting will be just as crucial as the
camera, it is unlikely that I will need anything more than the standard issue college camera,
provided I am able to eliminate any shadows on the interviewees face using a reflector there
shouldn't be too much of an issue regarding picture quality. Unfortunately during production
experiments I found that background noise with the mic was a key issue no matter what I did,
however since I do want to keep the mic Out of shot, I will probably need to use a boom pole
with an audio box to help pick up the sound from both people in the interview, to capture
footage for the videogames, I will be using recording software already built into my Laptop.
My post-production equipment is simple enough, all of my work will be edited through adobe
products, for instance I will likely create a soundtrack using Audition, and my entire film will
be edited using Premiere Pro.
CAMERA
There will only be a few occasions during production where using a camera will be necessary
and that's during my interviews, In this case They will all have the same setup as each
other. The camera would always be set in manual mode to allow custom setup with a more
versatile recording, this setting allows me to control the focus, iso, shutter speed etc.
However I won't need most of this as the camera is just being used for recording interviews.
Setting: manual
Iso: auto
Focus: manual
I always shot the subject at a medium close up as per standard interview position, I had
nothing to change the natural lighting levels, so I was forced to try and find an area where
the lighting was of acceptable levels.
SOUND
For the most part the sound techniques aren't going to vary too much throughout the
duration of my documentary. It is largely just going to be soundtracks assembled from
royalty free website, then using soundtracks of differing energy and mood depending on the
topics being discussed in that part of the video.
This part will only be interrupted on several occasions, during parts of the video where I need
to insert fragments of an interview or sourced from a news story for instance, it will be
imperative to reduce the total volume of the soundtrack in those instances so that audio
balancing remains steady. There may also be some instances where my soundtrack needs to
be cut out completely if the sourced footage I'm using contains it's own separate soundtrack.
RUSHES LOG
• Secured and recorded interviews at the following locations, all
footage I recorded pertains to these interviews:
• Sore thumbs retro gaming, York
• Random encounters pop culture cafĆ©, York
(All footage shot in these interviews was one long continuous
shot)
