services (Vision Essentials by Kaiser Permanente) has an immediate opening for a Product Manager,who will be
responsible for the overall success of the ophthalmic lens product line, consumer & market research,digital
marketing strategy, and other strategic projects in northern California. The position is based in Richmond, CA.

Key Duties
Strategic planning & marketing
- Sets strategic direction for the product line, including product selection, mix, pricing, and positioning.
- Understands market trends, competitor offerings, and the approach of other Kaiser Permanente regions.
Synthesizes this information into a consistent lens strategy for the northern California region. Coordinates
lens strategy with other products, such as frames.
- Analyzes market segments and develops distinct approaches for target groups. Conducts customer and
stakeholder surveys to ensure product messaging is consistent and targeted.
- Tracks product performance against internal and external benchmarks. Analyzes data to isolate key
drivers. Identifies and implements changes to improve performance.
- Introduces new products/enhancements to meet customer needs and respond to the competitive landscape.
- Creates and implements marketing and promotional strategies and tactics to improve product awareness.
- Develops, coordinates and presents product training to Opticians and Optometrists.
- Sets strategic direction for overall digital marketing strategy for Optical Services. Researches possible
tactics, makes recommendations, and implements plan.
Project management & implementation
- Leads cross-functional teams to implement lens strategy,including coordination with Sales & Operations,
Lab, IT, Finance and other functions.
- Works with IT on the set-up and maintenance of systems to place local orders and track performance.
- Works with manufacturing to ensure adequate inventory and problem solve quality issues.
- Gathers product feedback from local Optical Centers and generates buy-in for strategy.
- Manages vendor relations. Works with national team to negotiate product formulary.
Financial analysis & market research
- Conducts financial analysis on the impact of product changes and introductions (i.e. ROI, revenue/profit
projections, break-even analyses).
- Researches the marketplace,including consumer needs and preferences. Analyzes the data to inform
overall product strategy and tactics. Analyzes the competitive landscape and maps competitor tactics.
- Promotes and evaluates the use of new technologies and industry leading trends.
Key Skills Needed

Operations & logistics management (dive into processes in any area that impacts lens performance)
Education & Experience
Master's degree preferred.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, health care administration, public health
administration, or other related field required, OR four years of experience in a directly related field.
Minimum four years of related experience required. Healthcare experience preferred.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
