The student measured and marked a piece of wood to create the body and arms of a crab. They drew the outline and started cutting straight lines with a saw. They had trouble with the arms but made them the same size and shape. Next, they finished cutting and used sanding tools to smooth the wood and shape the arms round. They will continue rounding edges and shaping the arms in future sessions.
The document summarizes the student's progress on a woodworking project over several journal entries. In the first entry, the student marks out and cuts sides from MDF and begins cutting side blocks. They note being slightly ahead of schedule. The second entry details measuring, marking, and cutting additional side blocks and sides, though searching for suitable wood took extra time. The third entry finds suitable wood and cuts more side blocks with help from their teacher. They cut the sides to approximate shape. The fourth and fifth entries have the student marking shapes on side blocks and cutting them, finding the coping saw too slow so switching to a tenon saw for faster diagonal cuts instead of exact shapes.
Diane Guo created a lamp over several weeks. She cut circles and legs from wood using tools like a bend saw and jig saw. She assembled the lamp by cutting slots for legs and gluing pieces together. Diane covered the lamp frame in flax, which was a long process requiring care. In the end, the lamp was complete and lit up, though it was initially unstable. Diane fixed this by sanding down longer legs to be even.
Diane began working on her lamp project by cutting out the top and bottom circles using a compass and bend saw. She found the bend saw to be a very efficient tool for cutting circles. However, the bend saw later broke down, forcing her to use alternative tools like a jig saw and coping saw to cut out the legs and slots. She documented her progress, including smoothing edges with a disc sander and drill press. Diane assembled the legs and top piece to test the fit of the slots but realized she needs to cut a hole in the center of the top piece to change the bulb.
The document summarizes a student's process journal entries from their design technology class where they are creating a stool in the shape of a panda. In the entries, the student details marking and cutting wood to form the seat of the stool, which will be in the shape of a panda face. The student works on marking measurements, sawing wood, cutting curves with a coping saw, and filing the wood smooth. The student notes challenges with using tools carefully and maintaining focus.
The student used a jigsaw and safety goggles to cut out the base piece for their project. They then marked measurements for drawing placement but made a mistake, requiring remeasurement. The student felt they could have worked harder. In later lessons, the student sanded edges, drilled holes, screwed on the drawer handle, and routed out the drawer space using safety equipment.
The document describes a student's process journal entries from woodworking lessons. Over multiple lessons, the student cut out and shaped a wooden drawer and base. Key steps included measuring and cutting the base, marking and cutting out the drawer space, sanding edges, screwing on the drawer handle, and adding a piece of wood to secure the drawer in place. The student reflected on progress each lesson and identified areas for improvement, such as working more efficiently with the time given.
The document describes SeungHee Shin's process of starting a woodworking project. Over several classes, she measured and marked wood, cut pieces using various saws and tools, filed edges to smooth them, sanded surfaces, glued and screwed parts together. The project involved making a bone-shaped piece of wood and attaching it to a base. SeungHee found some tools like the jigsaw and router challenging to use at first but gained experience through practice.
The document describes the process of making side blocks for a woodworking project. It details marking out, cutting, and shaping the side blocks using various tools like saws, sanders, rasps and sandpaper. The author shapes the side blocks into spherical forms and works to smooth the surfaces. Some challenges are mentioned, like the time-consuming nature of certain tools. Progress is made on 4 side blocks through filing and shaping with rasps.

The student measured and marked out wood for a footstool project in class. They used tools like a pencil, ruler, and tri-square to mark the wood, then used saws and clamps to begin cutting. Working with a partner, they finished marking and measuring quickly. While the student made progress cutting the arrow shape, they didn't finish in the allotted time and would continue in the next lesson. The lesson related to the environment through the use of wood from trees.

The student cut wood into a triangular shape for a doorstop project. Shaping the wood precisely required considering factors like gap length and tool choice, which made it more difficult than previous steps. The student used tools like pencils, rulers, and different saws to cut and shape the wood. Although not finished, the teacher provided helpful feedback and the student made good progress following instructions and guidelines.
The student cut wood into a triangular shape for a doorstop project. Shaping the wood precisely required considering the appropriate tools and cut sizes. With teacher guidance, the student drew design lines on the wood and began cutting along the lines using different saws. Some cuts were not fully completed but will be finished in the next lesson. The process related to thinking critically about the design and cuts, as well as relying on human ingenuity to independently work on the project.
The document is a student's process journal for their design and technology class, where they describe measuring, marking, cutting, filing, and sanding wood to create curved braces for the inside of a lamp project over multiple class periods, using tools like a power jigsaw, tenon saw, smoothing plane, and discussing the challenges and progress of learning new techniques.
The student cut the shape of a wood stool by first drawing a circle with pencil and then using three different saws - a tenon saw, gents saw, and pull saw - to cut away the extra wood. They felt tired but good about finishing the cutting. For the next steps, they plan to file the project to make it less uncomfortable to touch and more circular in shape.
The student worked on finishing their toy project in class. They glued together pieces that had broken, glued the rockers to the body, and began sanding. They did well following instructions but could improve their filing skills. By the next class, they aim to be halfway done sanding their toy.

The document summarizes a student's process journal entries from their design technology class where they are creating a stool in the shape of a panda. In the entries, the student details marking and cutting wood to form the seat of the stool, which will be in the shape of a panda face. They describe using tools like rulers, try-squares, tenon saws, and coping saws. The student discusses challenges with marking measurements accurately and breaking a coping saw blade. They also reflect on learning skills like communication and being open-minded from the project.

Mark outlined and cut wood to make legs and supports for a footstool. He marked the wood using a pencil and steel rule to ensure accurate cuts. He cut the wood using various saws and clamps. Next, he will smooth the supports and complete cutting out the second support piece. Throughout the process, Mark focused on being careful, using tools properly, and completing all steps to build the footstool without wasting materials.
Jee Yeon Park began their design technology project by measuring and marking out the circular base with a compass. They then cut the base from plywood using a crosscut saw and jigsaw. The jigsaw allowed them to quickly cut the circular shape. Since the jigsaw left some rough edges, Jee Yeon used a disk sander to smoothly sand the sides. They felt they gained knowledge using different tools, including new machines like the jigsaw, and took risks in their work.
The student finished cutting all the pieces for their project using a coping saw. They plan to use a disk sander to round the corners for safety, but find using the disk sander difficult and scary. They discussed their focus on the learner profiles of community and knowledge in ensuring the project is safe and meets requirements for children. Their next steps are to continue disk sanding, filing, and potentially starting painting or wheels if time allows.
The document summarizes the progress made by the author on a woodworking project. It describes measuring and marking a leaf to cut a rectangular hole to fit into the side of a stem. It then discusses drilling holes in the stem to ease chiseling and attaching the leaf. The author notes being proud of the current progress but still needing help operating the pedestal drill.
The student worked on connecting the handle and body parts of their toy project. They cut a small piece at the back of the toy's body to allow the handle to connect. Using a drill and screw, they connected the two pieces together after applying a small amount of glue. They then filed the connection area to smooth it. The next steps will be finishing holes for wheels and adding wheels so the toy can roll properly.
The student documented their experience measuring, marking, and cutting wood to make a doorstop. They measured and cut the wood independently using tools like a ruler, tri-square, saws, and vice. The process required following steps like measuring, drawing lines, cutting pieces, and creating a groove. While challenging, the student felt they performed well for their first time using these tools and cutting wood.
The document summarizes the progress made on a craft project to cut out starfish shaped sides. It discusses measuring and marking out 26 sides, cutting 10 sides which was tiring work, but provided stress relief. The next steps are to finish cutting the remaining sides and then check if they can be assembled correctly. Tools used include a tenon saw, plywood, wood vice and bench hook.
The document describes several children's toys made from various materials like wood, plastic, cloth, and metal. Most of the toys are round, circular, or oval in shape and are operated using basic hand tools like files, drills, disc sanders, and saws. The toys move in ways like rocking, spinning, rolling, or having movable parts and are constructed through techniques such as gluing, screwing, nailing, cutting, and engraving.
Lung cancer is one of the most common and deadly cancers worldwide. It is often caused by smoking tobacco, which contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known carcinogens. Smoking causes around 90% of lung cancer cases in men and 70% in women. Other potential causes include exposure to radon, asbestos, or other chemicals in the workplace. Surgery is a main treatment but can have severe side effects like pain, weakness, and breathing issues. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy are also used but also cause side effects like nausea and hair loss. Lung cancer is difficult to treat and often returns after treatment, making it a serious social and financial burden for patients and their families. Reducing smoking rates would help
The experiment investigated how the amount of water affects its cooling rate. Three trials were conducted with 200ml, 300ml, and 400ml of water. The water was boiled to 94°C and its temperature was measured every minute for 5 minutes as it cooled. The results showed that as the amount of water increased, the cooling rate decreased, from 4°C/min for 200ml down to 2.6°C/min for 400ml. This supported the hypothesis that more water would cool slower due to its greater heat capacity. Improvements could be made by controlling variables like window openings and distractions near the heat source.
Res Publica is a community dedicated to promoting good governance, civic virtue, and deliberative democracy. It aims to protect ordinary citizens, like farmers, from unfair treatment. In ancient Rome, citizens were divided into two classes - patricians, who were nobles owning land or descended from founders, and plebeians, who were ordinary people. Both classes met in assembly, where plebeians could be elected as two consuls to lead for one year only, with an agreement not to hold power again for 10 years.
The document provides steps to solve algebraic expressions for the number of toy figures in different boxes.
1) It defines that small boxes contain X figures and large boxes contain Y figures.
2) It gives two example cases with different values for X and Y and shows the algebraic expressions to calculate the total figures.
3) The solutions show calculating the total figures for different combinations of small and large boxes.

Measuring and marking out the body of my crab
What i did today??
Today we started our project by measuring and
marking the size of our moving toys . i first picked a
tick wood but it was too small so i decided to make
it thin with the thin piece.
After i got the piece i made a circle then made it
into a crab body then i started to make the arms i
had some trouble with it so i decided to only make
one side then I took a ruler and measured in the
other side where it ended so the two arms were
same size and same length ,after i finished
drawing all of the arms and body i decided that i
should start cutting so i made strait lines next to the
curves so then i can cut into a curve with the copping
saw
What tools were used?
I used a metal ruler for marking the lines that I was
going to
I used a circle to make the body but i didn't want a
circle so i made a oval shape
My Emotions while working
My emotions today were proud and happy because i
was doing a good job and i was able to get the arms the same shape i was also happy
because i was nearly going to start to cut
What is next on my project ??
I will cut all of the lines that are near to the round areas
and the arms out then i can use a copping saw to start
cutting out the body and the arms and the front (the
face) .
2. Learner Profile used today
Todays learner profile was knowledgeable because i knew how to use many tools in a
safety way and i was able to make a round shape and i
was able to think how to make the arms all the same size
and shape.

Cutting in straight lines.
What i did today?
Today i finished drawing all
this is me finish drawing the arms
of the details needed
(making the arms and body
shape sound and same size)
I had some trouble so i spend a while in drawing it i made
sure the arms where nearly the same size and the same
shape after that i also made sure that the body of the crab
was oval and round also nearly the same size. Then i
started cutting the I mainly used a tenon saw but i also i This is me using the tenon saw
used a pulling saw for parts where the tenon saw could starting to cut
reach
What tools I used?
I used a tenon saw and a pulling saw.
The tenon saw was used for cutting mainly most of the
parts and for cutting the parts that were small enough for
the tenon saw to cut. This is me using a pull saw to cut
I used the pull saw to finish up mainly all of the parts where i couldn’t cut with the tenon
where the tenon saw didn't cut and also to make my
cutting faster.
My emotions while working
Today my emotions were kind of a relaxed but also rushed
relax because i knew that i would spend not as long as
other students in of time cutting and I was kind of rushed
This is how it looks like now
3. because i knew that this wood is much harder to cut so that is
why i nearly spend two
periods cutting and i have to
cut with more energy than
other projects
What is next on my project ?
Next lesson i will be finishing cutting the other two
parts left then i might start to use the copping saw to
cut off the parts like the arms and the mouth. Also in
the pictures i had taken i can see that the mouth is too
big and is not so oval so i think i will be also fixing that
for it to look more round.
Learner profile used today
Todays learner profile was knowledgeable because i
knew how to use the saws and i was able to cut in a really
neat way

Cutting arms with
copping saw
What i did today?
Today i finished cutting all of the lines I used a pull
saw and a copping saw i had some trouble because it
is hard to cut it I also spend a while Because i cut wrong something so i was cutting to
the arm I had some trouble so i spend a while in cutting those parts Then i started
cutting the arms and the front part using a copping saw i had some trouble because it
kind of my first time using the saw and it a small
part so i was scared to cut something off or if i
made a mistake.
What tools I used?
I used a tenon saw and a pulling saw.
The tenon saw was used for cutting mainly most of
the parts and for cutting the parts that were small
4. enough for the tenon saw to cut.
I used the pull saw to finish up mainly all of the parts
where the tenon saw didn't cut and also to make my

because i knew that this wood is much harder to cut so that is why i nearly spend two
periods cutting and i have to cut with more energy than other projects i was also being
careful because i didn’t want to make any mistakes and brake any parts off of my
projects i also felt happy because the wood that i don’t need is coming off and I can
start looking at the shape it will be come
What is next on my project ?
Next lesson i will be finishing cutting the other round parts i also need to finish cutting all
of the round edges and make the arms round and giving them some shape

Cutting ,sanding and filing my crabʼs arms the arms stand out more
and body
What i did today?
Today i finished cutting a with the cooping saw i cut
really near to the line i cut the top and the arms the
arms where hard because i wanted to keep it same
shape and same size. After that i used he disk sander
to get all extra length after i used the disk sander the
wood was really smooth and it all looked with a nice
shape the arms are too small so i wasn’t able to use the This is me using a half round file
6. disk sander so i had to use files i used a round file a flat file
and a half round file too after i made most of them kind of
roud not sharp i had to make the edge round so its not
spiky and it looks more like a crab
This is how it looks like at the end of
the class
What tools I used?
I used a tenon saw and a pulling saw.
The tenon saw was used for cutting mainly most of the parts
and for cutting the parts that were small enough for the
