The student cut wood into a triangular shape for a doorstop project. Shaping the wood precisely required considering factors like gap length and tool choice, which made it more difficult than previous steps. The student used tools like pencils, rulers, and different saws to cut and shape the wood. Although not finished, the teacher provided helpful feedback and the student made good progress following instructions and guidelines.

1. Design Technology Process Journal –Feb.21st, 2011<br />- Shape the wood by cutting it.Today, I finished cutting the wood in to the triangular shape, so I started shaping the wood by cutting it. It was much more harder than the previous step, because I had to consider stuff like how long should the gap be and which tool am I going to use etc.<br />Today I used some tools. Most of them are the same as the tools I used last lesson. I used a pencil, a metal ruler, a tenon saw, a tri square, and another saw, which is smaller than the tenon saw and the crosscut saw. This saw helped me make a smaller cut. It is a good way to use it when you need to cut a small gap.<br />I think I worked quite well this lesson, everything ran great! First of all, the teacher checked my reflection. The teacher said my reflection was quite good and the pictures and good. So I went into the workshop to start continue making my doorstop. I cut the wood that I didn’t finish cutting last lesson. It didn’t take a long time to cut it. After cutting the wood, I started drawing my design on the wood. This part was really easy. I drew it on the wood and took it to the teacher, but the teacher said it was too small, I should make it bigger. So I followed the teacher’s instruction and drew the shoe again. Next, I started shaping it. This part was a bit tricky, because I needed to consider the length of the gap I am going to cut, and also which saw I am going to use. The teacher gave me some help, he drew the guiding lines on the wood for me, so it was easier for me to cut it. I followed the guiding lines and I used the small saw to cut it. I didn’t finish cutting one of the lines I should cut, but I will be continue doing it for the next lesson.<br />I think today’s lesson related to two things. First of all for the learner profile, I think it related to thinker. I considered about all those things I have to notice, to make sure I was doing the things right. And for the Area of interaction, I think it related to human ingenuity, because all I was doing this lesson was working by myself.<br />This is me wearing a apron to protect my clothes from the dusts.<br />I used a pencil to draw my design on the wood.<br />I draw a diagonal line on the wood by using the metal ruler.<br />I used a tri square to draw a right angle.<br />I used the tenon saw to cut the wood in to the right size.<br />
