This document provides information about a three-day training course on Process Hazard Review techniques including HAZOP, What-If, and checklists. The training will be held in Lagos, Nigeria from July 6-8, 2015 and will cover accident causation processes, risk assessment tools, HAZOP methodology, and case studies. The training is designed to help participants evaluate process hazards and risks in existing and new facilities. The fee for the training is 126,000 Naira per participant and it can also be provided in-house.

2. OVERVIEW
Effectively defining and managing competence is an essential
part of a good health and safety management system.
Beyond managing competence, practitioners should have a
deeper understanding of SHE awareness and build specific
competence for the critical preparedness across
operational echelon through a comprehensive and
deliberate initiative that will mitigate operational risks,
reduce occurrence probability from process design stage.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
On completion of the course, the course promises to add
value in the following area:
 Participants will be able to engage management,
process owners and stakeholders to initiate a
HAZOP technique.
 Participants especially facility managers, process
engineers and operators will fully appreciate the
role of HSE-In-Design. For example, a robust AFC
(Approved For Construction) drawing and
consequential cost reduction that will emanate
following input of an HAZOP Session
 The course will implore on participants especially
process operators the need for proper data
management as As-Built Drawings, P & ID,
specifications for design, engineering and
production practices will be referenced during the
HAZOP.
 Participants will further be knowledgeable on risk
assessment techniques as well as hands-on for
Process Accident Tracer tools.
 Participants especially process owners and HSE
engineers will actively contribute and feature in
HAZOP Roles such as scribes and
implementers/drivers of HAZOP
Recommendation.
 Marching the knowledge gained from this course
with needed commitments, participants can
develop to becoming lead HAZOP and HAZOP
SME (Subject Matter Expect).

This course has been specially designed to equip
participants with the specialized know-how to evaluate
process hazards and their potential consequences in the
event of incidents or accidents resulting from operation in
existing facilities or new units, and when implementing
changes to process, equipment, operating modes or
procedures.
