This document discusses the challenges of English language teaching (ELT) in India. It outlines problems at the primary level, including a lack of discipline, limited English speaking environments, vocabulary gaps, prioritizing marks over language, and influence of the mother tongue. It also examines problems related to emotional personality in ELT, such as lack of confidence, low self-esteem, Anglophobia, avoiding fluent English speakers, and aversion to presentations. A survey found that 60% of students and teachers found speaking English to be challenging. The conclusion advocates facing problems directly rather than avoiding them in order to help overcome the issues with ELT in India.
