Oscar Wilde
◦ Oscar Wilde was born on 16 October
1854, Westland Row, Dublin, Ireland.
◦ Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish
poet and playwright.
◦ After writing in different forms throughout the
1880s, he became one of the most popular
playwrights in London in the early 1890s.
◦ He died on 30 November 1900,Paris ,
France.
Brief summary on Importance of Being
Earnest
◦ Two young man have taken to bending the truth in order to put
some excitement into their lives.
◦ Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an
excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolyn.
◦ Montcrieff decides to take the name Earnest when visiting
Worthing's young and beautiful ward, Cecily.
◦ Things start to go wrong when they end up together in the
country and their deceptions (fake identity) are discovered.
Characters
Comparison between characters
◦ Jack(lives in country)he wants to
marry Gwendolen but wants to
“change” his name from Ernest to
Jack.
◦ Cecily lives with Jack who is her
guardian. She is 18,she “loves” Jack’s
wicked young brother Ernest.
◦ Ernest is the “wicked younger
brother” of Jack who lives in the city,
Jack goes to see his brother to bail
him out of trouble; really Jack
“becomes” Ernest when he is in city.
◦ Algernon (lives in the city) he
will go to the county and woo
Cecily as “Ernest”.
◦ Gwendolen lives in the city;
she is the cousin of Algernon;
she loves Ernest when
he(Jack) comes to the city.
◦ Bunbury is “sick friend”
Algernon has invented when
he wants to excuse himself
from engagements .He
(Bunbury) is always sick!
Novel and Movie Comparison about
“Fake Identities”
Comparison with Movie Kis Kis Ko
Pyaar kru(2015)
◦ In the novel Algernon and Jack fake
identity.
◦ Both have their name as ‘Ernest’.
They wanted to tell their girlfriends
about their identity but couldn’t
because they girls were in only love
with name ‘Ernest’.
◦ But at both girls came to about the
fake identity and were broken.
◦ And their identity were revealed.
◦ In movie kumar has four identities
which were also fake.
◦ He did four marriage all were in same
flat. All girls have became friends.
◦ But when he going for doing his fourth
marriage the three friends were called
which were also the wives of kumar.
◦ At the time of marriage ceremony
Kumar face passes in fire and he is
exposed.
◦ And his identity was revealed.
Conclusion
◦ In novel we have two different person with same fake identities “Ernest”.
And in movie we have one person with four different fake identities . So
my point is one cannot hide their real identities some or the other way
fake identities are revealed. Same way in novel also it was revealed and
same as movie .
