Essay On The Antibacterial Effects Of Microorganisms
The main for the purpose of this study was to find out about the tolerance of Listeria
monocytogenes towards quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC). The antibacterial effects of
disinfectants are crucial for the control of Listeria monocytogenes in food processing environments.
Tolerance of L. monocytogenes to sub lethal levels of disinfectantsbased on QAC is conferred by
the resistant determinants qacH and bcrABC. The QAC based disinfectants which are in common
use in many food industries are found to have strains of qacH and bcrABC which are resistant to
QAC. It helps in the growth of these microorganisms with those particular strains (MГёretrГё et al.,
2017).

It is primarily a food borne infection and is particularly a problem on foods that are not cooked,
including ready to eat (RTE) meats, smoked fish, soft cheeses, unpasteurised dairy products, and
even in fresh produce. Thermal processing if milk and meat may occur but post processing
contamination does take place (Tiffany, 2015). L. monocytogenes that occur in food may originate
in soils from farms, in slaughtering facilities, in food processing plants and other equipment used in
food manufacture. The elimination of this bacteria can be challenging as it forms very resistant
biofilms (Oxaran et al., 2017). Bacterial biofilms are defined as surface associated bacterial
communities forming micro colonies surrounded by a matrix of exo polymers. Biofilms confer to
L. monocytogenes a greater resistance to antimicrobial agents and they allow microorganisms to
resist to environmental changes and cleaning/disinfection treatments (Tiffany, 2015). L.
monocytogenes possess an ability to establish itself in equipment or production environments and
single strains of the microorganisms have been shown to reoccur in production environment over
periods of years. The bacteria persist in environmental niches like cracks, inside equipment that are
protected from cleaning and disinfection routines (MГёretrГё et al., 2017).

Black Plague And The Black Epidemic
Black Plague The Black Plague outbreak was one of the scariest events in human history. The
people were afraid to do everyday activities and carry on with their normal routines. This plague
is known to almost every person on Earth. Even as a kid, teachers tell their students about this
plague. Even the thought of an outbreak like the Black Plague makes people s skin crawl. I am
included in that category. It has gotten to the point that when any outbreak of any type or kind of
disease happens that the world gets into panic mode. All of this panic comes from the Black Death.
In this synthesis and analysis essay I will cover the places the Black Plague reached, the effects of
the Black Plague, and the thoughts of the people that lived in... Show more content on

The disease spread through eight districts in the Chinese and Mongol dynasties. The deaths were
so severe that some areas didn t even have time to bury all the bodies, so they just stacked them
up against the city walls. Next, the plague spread to Europe, it arrived in Europe through trading
ships. By the time the ships landed in Messina. Most of the crew members on the ships were
either dead or infected. The abandon ships peaked a lot of interest and since the ships were
infested with rodents, the locals that looted from the ships helped the disease spread even
further. By 1348 the disease spread all the way to Genoa and Venice. Then the disease went from
Italy and spread northwest France, Spain, Portugal, and England by June 1348. This is a rapid
spread rate since six countries in less than a year. Although the disease was not yet done with
Europe, it then spread east through Germany and Scandinavia through 1350. The last stop in
Europe was Russia in 1351. The last stop for the Black Plague was the Middle East. The
outbreak in the Middle East led to serious depopulation and economic structures just like the other
countries. When the disease reached Mecca, the people of Mecca tried to blame it on non
believers. The plague continued to kill people all the way up to the Seventeenth century and there
have even been isolated cases as recent as 1980 (Black Death). The Black Plague had many
different types of affects that it influenced on the people exposed to it.

Oil Prices And Rise And Fall Of Chinese Economy Essay
Falling crude oil prices and rise and fall of Chinese economy
Who s afraid of falling crude oil prices? Isn t it something to celebrate from the consumers point
of view, especially in the Asian region! The answer is perhaps no . Though the debate over the
impact of plunge in crude oil price and its implications will continue for long, nothing can be said
with fair amount of certainty as long as its link with the slowdown of Chinese economy.
A substantial amount of work is being carried out by the academia and experts on hydrocarbon
industry to decide whether China is to be blame for crash in oil price and subsequent crash in
stock markets. In an attempt to explain a very complex cobweb of causes and effects, it
emerged that the Chinese economic slowdown could result into a very long phase of lower oil
price less than $50 per barrel, and even if a correction occurs in early 2017 as many have
predicted, it would be short lived. However, it s no secret that oil market does not perform in
isolation hence any fresh trouble in the regions producing oil, could push prices further up or down
at an unprecedented pace.

Ivanovich Shishkin Analysis
I have chosen Realism to write about. Realism art is beautiful in its own way. The artist I picked
is named Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin. His artwork is outstandingly beautiful. He really grasps the real
life images and makes it into great artwork. I have not ever really paid attention to art, but his
paintings definitely stand out. The realismmovement in French are flourished from around 1840
until the late nineteenth century. It sought to convey a truthful and objective vision of
contemporary life. Realism came about after the Revolution of 1848 which overturned the
monarchy of Louis Philippe and developed during the second empire under Napoleon III. Society
fought for democratic reform. While society fought for democratic reform the artists fought in their
own way. The Realists democratized art by depicting modern subjects drawn from the... Show more

Sometimes he sat out in the horrible dry heat to get his painting and sometime he was out in the
freezing cold. He is also interesting because he actually went to different places and found
someplace he liked and sat there and started. It was just like someone going on a hike or
something and stopping to take a photo. I can really tell that he loves the wilderness because of
how he captures it into his art. He really knew how to mix the colors together to get the skies and
waters to look perfect. You can tell he took a lot of time and put a lot of heart into all of his
works. The only thing that I could not get myself to like was his winter paintings. I really did not
look at any other winter paintings besides his, but the white just made everything washed out.
They had nothing that really stood out to me. They looked very amateur. Maybe that is why he
really did not paint them often. Most of all his paintings he incorporated trees somehow. Either
they were the main focus or they were all over. He excelled in painting

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies
provide a solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services
that are managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting
(2010) suggest that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet
their distinct needs. A definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the
whole processes of supply chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s
preference. It is also conclude the definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of
external firms to provide logistics services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the
process that have traditionally been performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics.
The roles performed by the 3PL providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The
Client Company) derived from market demands and conditions.

Blood Glucose Level Changes Due Exercise And Serving Size
Introduction
Our whole project is surrounded around blood glucose level changes due exercise and serving
size, so that brings about the question of what is blood glucose? Blood glucose is the sugar that
is moved throughout the bloodstream to provide energy to all cells in the body. In simple terms, it
is very important biological occurrence that drives the body by giving it the raw energy to power
all the body s functions. To test for this occurrence, there are two main methods to test for the levels
of blood glucose in the bloodstream. One method is having the blood drawn intravenously, getting
blood drawn using a needle, and sending it to a lab to conduct the action. The other method that is
much more convenient and less costly is using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The kidneys are quite busy forming about 160 liters of filtrate daily (Powis, 1985, p. 182). This is
very important because it is through the liver and kidneys that the nutrients start traveling through
the bloodstream, especially glucose, sugar. Glucose is the favored energy fuel for most cells of the
body (Silverstein, 1994, p. 28). Glucose is essentially sugar, which is the primitive source of
energy for most of living organisms, and humans are no exception. Normally people have the
biochemistry within their bodies to regulate their own blood sugar levels. However, this is not the
case for some people, unfortunately, due to factors. The hormone insulin, which, helps sugar
enter the body cells, is basically inactive in some people, which causes their whole biological
system to start to deteriorate(Goodheart, 1990, p. 117). This is known as diabetes. Diabetes can
come in two types, i.e type 1 and 2, which are caused by genetics or poor dietary habits. This can
cause conditions like hyperglycemia, which is, a blood sugar level that is higher than normal
(Goodheart, 1990, p.117). The opposite of this is hypoglycemia, which is, a blood sugar that is
lower than normal (Goodheart, 1990, p.117). Research into blood glucose was then extensively
done to help out with managing diabetes since there was no cure. This led to the creation of
synthetic insulin that diabetics inject themselves to regulate their levels and

Analysis Of George S. Patton
George S. Patton was a U.S. Army General, who was know for his grit and toughness. The kind of
guy who was known for pouring his heart and soul into everything he did. He was a man of many
even self contradictory ways: He was a noted horseman and polo player, a well known champion
swordsman, and a competent sailor and sportsman ... an amateur poet... a rough and tough soldier...
a thoughtful and sentimental man. Unpredictable in his actions, yet always dependable... outgoing,
yet introverted. (Charles M. Province)
He was also well known for his controversy and ability to rally the troops. His speech to the third
army was given June 5th, 1944 which was the eve of the allied invasion of Europe. It was a
chance for Patton to shine as a general. He knew he would have to construct a speech for which
listeners and future readers would be struck by his harsh style, while incorporating his unstinting
dependence of profanity. But we must not be led to believe that Patton had not carefully rehearsed
every word, chosen precisely for its desired persuasive effect. Patton s address to the Third Army
repays attentive examination, and, when the problems it is designed to address are identified, its
brilliance and influence will become apparent. Yet, raising soldier s moral raises a challenge: should
a speech be a formal, incorporating articulate words and sentence structure, or should it be vulgar
and rife with profanities? Patton begins the speech by mentioning how much Americans

perceived integrity of these institutions was often compromised because of their funding structures.
Think tanks and civil societies funded by governments were often accused as government puppets
while those funded by Western donors were viewed as wolves in sheep clothing. My experience at

Arthur Black Essay
Arthur Black is a very opinionated man. In his essays about Canada, he has many short pieces
about the differences between Canadians and Americans. He states how there is never anything
bad said about Canada, and that Canada could even be considered a wallflower . In his essay
Canadian Passion Not Flagging, Black talks about how the Americans wave their flag and
Canadians do not. Americans have their flag everywhere; hanging inside malls, and even at the gas
stations. In his essay Canada: Too Polite to Live, it says how the American Declaration of
Independence demands life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Canadians have settled for peace,
order, and good government. Another difference between Americans and Canadians according to...

Also, to be Canadian, it is almost a must to have an interest in hockey. Hockey is the one sport
Canada can safely say they are the best at. People from Canada know a different level of cold
than places like the USA. In the article A Samaritan with Jumper Cables, Black says how this
aint a country; this is winter. Also in that article, he tells some stories about how polite and kind
people from Canada are and how if the car spun off the road or ran out of gas, Canadians would
be there to help right away. Arthur Black s main classification of Canada is polite, and that is most
likely the rest of the world s opinion also.
Your Canada Winter in Canada is much different than winter in other countries. For one, it is
much longer. Winter lasts about six to eight months, and it can be unbearably cold. The days are
significantly shorter than summer, which makes it that much harder to wake up for the day at
school or at work. Having to shovel the driveway isn t Canadians favorite pastime at seven in the
morning when they are going to be late for work. Also what needs to be taken into account is
making sure the car is plugged in during the night. When that is forgotten in the cold days of
winter, it is pretty hard to get anywhere because no car would start if it was sitting outside. The
season of winter in Canada isn t all bad though, it is very pretty at times. Waking up and looking

Manchester Dbq Essay
England in the 18th and 19th centuries changed dramatically as a result of the Industrial
Revolution. As a result of the tremendous growth its population increased from 18,000 in 1750 to
over 300,000 by the time period of 1851. The industrialization of Manchester was very efficient and
successful for the modernization the city, and the growth also raised many issues in society. Some
issues were the effects on the social structure and the gap between the classes. Along with the issue
that occurred in Manchester which were the terrible living and working conditions and also the
wealth situation. Due to rapid development and an increased population, some viewed Manchester
as a shining example of industrial progress while others deemed it a den of poverty and unrest.
Some of the issues which shined because of the growth of Manchester are the advancements of

Analyzing The Closet Scene In Mel Gibson s Hamlet
The Closet Scene in the Shakespearian play Hamlet was viewed in three different films. The
scene done by Mel Gibson was the best adaptation because it was filmed exactly how it was
written in the play. Mel Gibson was successful by evoking a strong emotional response within the
audience when Hamlet was shown being aggressive toward his mother, with the strong presence
of the Oedipus complex. The setting in this version was true to the text unlike Hawke s version
which was very modern as they were in an older setting which the text was in, an older time, when
royalty strongly ruled different counties, and they strongly believed in religion. However, in the
adaptation by Ethan Hawke, the setting appeared to be in a city. This version had cut

Thomas Jefferson And Martin Luther King Jr.
We are all pretty familiar with Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr., both being significant
historical figures, fighting for different ideas. During the 1700s , Jefferson was growing up in a
rich white environment and privileged to the extent where he is later classified as an American
founding father. A very different background compared to the majority of the colonies population at
that time and two distinct relations shared between them. Unlike Jefferson, Dr. King was raised by
a faithful family and a religious environment while being targeted in a discriminative and racist
atmosphere, resembling the expected stereotypical lifestyle of an African Americanmale during the
1900s . Unlike many other African Americans, King achieved the near impossible in getting as
far as an education; the pressure in even attending a segregated school was overwhelming for a
lot of African American individuals. Since we looked at both very distinct lifestyles, we can
probably guess how and where the motives behind Jefferson s Declaration of Independence and
Dr. King s I Have A Dream came about. Comparison and contrast wise, what are the propositions
Jefferson and King have for the topic of equality? Does Jefferson s perspective on equality
contradict or corroborate with Dr. Kings ? But when you really get down to it, do either ones
perspective have similar traits to what kind of society we are living in or is it too irrational to

Tragedy Commons
Econ145 assignment 1, Minyeong Kim(A91424682), Professor Squires
In the first reading which is called Tragedy of the Commons, written by Garrett Harden, the author
Harden talks about the problems of the public goods and some solutions as well. The author
basically insists that there are no technical solutions for the problems caused by overpopulation.
He also gives some examples of the tragedy of the commons and the reasons why these problems
cannot be overcome. He mentioned about the appearance of the atomic resources which is
considered as an infinite resource, and he says that people usually tend to consider this infinite
resources as a solution of the problem of overpopulation. However, the author claims that the

First of all, he explains that the difference between public goods and common pool resources.
For example, we can say that groundwater, grazing and trees are common pool resources. If a
person uses resource at once and gets benefits from it, the value of the resource becomes lower
to the another person. On the other hand, using of the public goods does not make lower the
value of the resources whoever uses it. He gives an unusual observations regarding Indian
Village which has no clearly defined social domain or institution separate from state authority.
The author observed total of forty one villages, and he found out that people in all of the villages
share the goods and services very effectively and evenly based on common property rights. The
reason why this village could use resources properly is that there are four main institutions; a
village council, village standing fund, village guards, and common irrigators; which have their own
common property rights. These institutions also have their own rights to do such as council
organize the supply of the public goods, or village guards protect crops from livestock etc. Also, all
the services in this village except water distribution are financed from the village standing fund. As
a result, since these institutions have their own common property rights, they cannot help but have
responsibility to protect village properly. Also, this well made common property rights of the
village could protect total tragedy of the commons as a result. Furthermore, the author gives
another example about grazing in a village. For example, as he mentions above, every single
rational herdsman prefers to keep as many cattle as they can to make higher benefits. To keep as
many cattle as they can, they have to protect them by hiring

The Battle Between Christianity And Islam
Towards the end of the eleventh century in Western Europe and Eurasia, a range of social,
economical and religious influences collectively influenced the sequence of religious wars which
we know as the Crusades. Although the series of holy wars against Islam is typically portrayed as
the fault of overzealous popes and belligerent kings; the truth behind the clash between Christianity
and Islam is far more elaborate. The direct repercussions following two centuries of prolonged
warfare afflicted Christendom with the loss of several millions of lives and immense financial
expenditure. On the contrary, the Crusadesstimulated the fundamental expansion and the ultimate
downfalls of nations in both the Western and Eastern fields.
Contrary to popular belief, the Crusades (1095 A.D 1291 A.D) were defensive wars in response to
Islamic expansion following Prophet Mohammed s death in the 7th century. It is all too commonly
assumed that the Crusades were the vanguard of the Church s self righteousness and prejudice that
warped the enlightened Oriental culture with Western antagonism. Although elements of these
assumptions are true to some extent; the Crusaders ultimate objective was to defend against the
very Muslims who initially prompted their response by conquering Christian lands in the name of
Allah. Similar to the Crusaders dogma of war, the Islamists had a warfare doctrine as well. In
traditional Islam the world was divided into several spheres known as abodes. Two abodes

How The Marine Resource Exploitation Is Essential For...
The importance of having access to waterways is essential for early settlement of citizens and
for military purposes. This dependent resource provides a more efficient transportation route as
well as access to marine resources such as fishing. Fish also became a source of protein diet and
economic trade values in both Chinese and Japanese cultures. In this essay, I will be using the
Pseudosciaena crocea also known as the Yellow croaker as my example.1 Yellow croaker got
their name from the noises that they make during the spawning season.2 I will also be addressing
the problem of overfishing and environmental consequences that arise. By analyzing the patterns
of ecological transformations within fishing disputes between China and Japan, we can see how
marine resource exploitation becomes a motivation to strengthen each perspective s nation state.
Japan has one of the longest histories of hunting gatherer societies in East Asia. Dating back to
the Jomon, their diets included a board range of plant, animal, and marine foods.3 The remains of
the salmon bones show that this fish was exploited from as early as the Incipient phase. Fast
forward to the Yayoi period, rice, without a doubt, was the most important crop, but barley, millet,
and other cultivated and wild plants were also consumed in large quantities.4 Others such as
domesticated pigs and chicken are known from Yayoi contexts but were still unclear whether or
not it was used a food resource. Deer, wild boars, and fish

Logical Relationship Of Budgeting Management
LOGICAL RELATIONSHIP OF BUGDETINGS
Budgeting management plays critical role in organizations, it can help organizations to allocate
resource, force thinking about future and estimate performance base on benchmark. Normally,
management team and financial function provide budget plans at the beginning of a specific
period. It also plays the role of communication and co ordination around different levels of
organization. Although all of kinds of budget are run respectively, it is important to investigate
interrelationship between them.
The master budget relationship is showed below:
Production budget, which determine number of units the company needs to produce to meet sales
and ending inventory, interlinked sales budget and direct material budget, direct labor budget and
manufacture overhead budget.
We will discuss the logical relationship of budgets.
1.Sales budget
The sales budget reflected sales expectation of a company s for the budget period. The unit result
of sales budget is the basement of production budget. To calculate sales budget, companies need
variety sources of information. The most important source is historical data and marketing
forecast. The sales budget result comes from budgeted sales in units by selling price per unit. It is
clear that the sales budget of new product will have less accurateness then the grown up product, as
there is not much data can be used. The more historical data to be concerned, the accurateness of
result will be higher.

Underage Immigration Issues
In the United States of America, there are many issues surrounding immigration that require
immediate action from the President and Congress. From whether to construct a massive wall to
establishing legal pathways to citizenship, the President and Congress are divided on these two

Safety Measures For A System Administrator
Introduction
There may be some individuals who do not consider the role of system administrator as dangerous.
While the role may not possess the types of dangers other jobs have, such as offshore drilling, or
refinery work, there are safety measures that must be considered. In addition to safety
considerations, a well rounded system administrator must understand the steps necessary for
effective troubleshooting. Effective troubleshooting, and safety considerations go hand in hand for
system administrators.
Safety Measures for System Administrators
The term safety is most commonly associated with physical safety. While this is true, system
administrators must consider other types of safety measures that include both logical safety, and
physical safety. Logical safety is arguably one of the most important factors for a system
administrator to consider.
Logical safety includes the security of the systems an administrator is responsible for. This type of
safety consideration includes well defined access control policies, periodic review of access, and
the secure configuration of workstations and servers. When a system administrator ensures these
types of controls are in place, the safety and security of company systems has a reasonable level of
assurance. In addition, there are actual physical safety measures that must be considered (Frisch,
1995).
Safety Measures for Electronics
System administrators must work with electronics as a part of their day to day job responsibilities.

Ephedrine and It s Effect on Weight Loss Essay
Ephedrine and It s Effect on Weight Loss
The Dilemma
It is dilemma that affects the world over, its scope nothing short of the earth s 25,000 mile
circumference. However, in certain cultures it is a more significant issue than in others.
Nevertheless, it can affect every aspect of our lives, driving many even to suicide. Few, if any, are
naturally invincible to its hidden wrath. This invisible, yet potent dilemma is obesity, or simply
weight control.
In countries, such as the United States, weight control is a common, yet, dire issue. Especially, in a
society where thin is in, but for many, so are fatty foods and infrequent exercise, there is a huge
and growing demand for quick, easy schemes to lose weight. However, the true ... Show more

Summary Of The Six Degrees Of Separation
Anything that comes after an original piece of work is just an imitation, however, when
changing a piece of work, one may be able to provide new context or emphasize over looked
nuances and themes of such work. The film and play Six Degrees of Separation, written John
Guare, demonstrates the evolution of a work when adapted to the big screen; themes of an original
work and an adaptation may be the same at heart, but the difference in which they are conveyed
brings intensity and a different measure of impact with each new retelling. The narrative
configuration of the movie tells the same story as the play but in a new light and further
emphasizes its themes. The use of a non linear structure and a seemingly crafted use of line of action

Moreover, this change did not inhibit the film at all provided it kept, if not emphasized, the original
themes of the story and thus why I consider it to be a faithful adaptation. Six Degrees of
Separation demonstrates not only a faithful adaptation retold in a new way, but also is an example
of the power of narrative configuration. Although this story may not have a linear structure in both
the play or movie, the narrative configuration still changed the story without loosing it s key
components. The movie does present a non chronological retelling, however, it tells the story of
the Kittredges parallel to the story of Paul seemingly in a line of action configuration. In the
adaption, this is neatly masked by framing the narrative as a story within a story, however, it still
keeps the tone and meaning of the play without breaking the fourth wall. Furthermore, this shows
the importance of narrative configuration and how it can alter a movie without completely
changing the story and how its minor changes influence a stories themes. Although a narrative can
be changed when adapted, it does not mean the story will be lost and over all I believe the
evolution of Six Degrees of Separation neatly demonstrates this provided that it is faithful to the
original story through keeping the same characters, similar dialogue, and key events despite the
change of the narrative

With all out war out of the question, President Jimmy Carter after careful consideration led a US
delegation to oppose the hosting of the Olympic Games of 1980, in Moscow (Bigelow). This
attempt however failed as the Olympic Organizing Committee refused to change the venue as it
was so late in the organization and planning of the games. Feeling aggrieved, the US sought the
support of other nations in boycotting the games. The US engaged in vigorous campaigns that
involved sending emissaries to countries all over the globe to explain to them why it was critical
that they boycott the games. The emissaries drew from renowned diplomats and sports
personalities such as Muhammad Ali. This attempt however did fail as most nations felt hat it was
great disrespect that athletes and not diplomats were sent. One such example was in the Tanzanian
case; Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere was insulted an athlete was sent instead of a diplomat,
and Ali, disenchanted because he was accused of being Carter s puppet, started to think of cutting
himself loose from the job (Bigelow).
Ultimately, the campaign managed to reel in 60 other nations in boycotting the games in Moscow.
Back at home, while most supported the move to boycott the games, some felt that it was a gross
injustice to the athletes that had trained vigorously for the games. The athletes themselves, though

If you routinely dry tubs, showers counters and sinks, but still have an issue, check for a water
leak. Inspect under the sink and behind the toilet as well as the floors, faucets, showerheads, and
around accessible pipes for leaks. Ensure the shower door is not allowing water to leak out onto the
floor. Ideal indoor humidity is 50%, air conditioning or dehumidifiers can assist in reducing
humidity, and deterring mold. Call Benjamin Franklin s plumbers in Arlington, TX for the
replacement of worn, leaking bath fixtures.
Allow the ventilation fan to run during showers and baths, and for 20 minutes afterwards to
allow the moisture time to dry. If you do not have a ventilator fan, opening a window can be
helpful when weather permits. Consider installing a fan, selecting the correct cubic feet per
minute (CFM) rating for your bathroom. To determine the size you need, multiply the room s
square footage by 1.1 for 8 ft. ceilings, or by 1.5 for 9 ft. ceilings. The result is your required CFM.
Use an absorbent towel or squeegee to dry the shower and sink after showering or cleaning up at

Narrative Essay About A Fishing Trip
Our family has rules set that say you have to be 10 years of age or older to go on our Canada

Theme Of Anna Karenina
The context of the next significant death in the novel decidedly contrasts the death of Nicholas
Levin. Anna Karenina, after falling from grace and her elevated social stratum, desperately
searches for meaning in her life. She fears that she no longer provides Count Vronsky with any
sort of pleasure and constantly seeks to improve herself in order to keep his attention and love
focused on her. In a constant state of inadequacy, Anna cannot even sleep without a heavy dose of
opium. Anna grows dependent upon the drug, and one night, She poured out her usual dose of
opium and thought that she need only drink the whole phial in order to die, it seemed to her so
easy and simple that she began thinking with pleasure of how he would suffer, repent, and love her
memory when it was too late (Tolstoy 680). Tolstoy foreshadows Anna s demise in this passage.
Anna feels that, were she to kill herself, she could finally solicit the attention and love she craves so
adamantly. However, on further considering this avenue, All was darkness. Death! she thought. And
such terror came upon her (Tolstoy 680). She quickly dismisses this thought, desiring to live her life
fully. However, the seeds of something horrible are planted in her mind. Those seeds sprout as
Anna continues to trudge through her lackluster life. Anna stumbles upon the train tracks, and,
Suddenly remembering the man who had been run over the day she first met Vronsky, she realized
what she had to do (Tolstoy 694). Anna

Cost of education makes it hard for them because they do not have the money for textbooks or bus

most important instructional material for the student s. Children score higher in tests of math and
reading comprehension when they are provided textbooks. Other issues are the quality of the
books are flawed with factual errors, inappropriate illustrations, and problems with readability, due
to factual and grammatical errors, along with major deviations from the specifications set by the
Curriculum Bureau. The language of the text creates confusion because it differs greatly from one

Disruption Reflection
For my global engagement event, I attended the showing of the film, Disruption, followed by a
brief discussion session. This movie aired at Global Commons sponsored by the Office of
Sustainability at Elon University, specifically their student Eco Reps. The event began at seven o
clock on Tuesday, September 19th.
This film depicts the devastating effects of human activity in modern society on the environment
resulting in global climate change creating extreme weather events such as floods, tornadoes,
droughts, and hurricanes. Change in Earth s overall temperature is difficult to conceptualize
because its long term effects do not present urgency in most people s minds; consequentially, the
film discloses the lack of concern for environmental issues throughout government agencies and
most citizens. Even with the recent international industrial pledge to reduce carbon dioxide
emissions, the objectives are poorly defined and lack the intensity to reverse the damage.
Incorporating both the scientific and governmental explanation of climate change, the film
illustrates the tremendous positive impact civilian activists can accomplish. For example, the
activists are planning the first major climate change march and rallying local citizens behind a
common goal to create meaningful change. Following the movie the Eco Reps initiated a
discussion session regarding Elon s impact on the environment and specific ways students can alter
their habits to make positive change such as recycling, turning off electronics when not in use, and
eating less meat. Although most of the students were impressed with the measures Elon
incorporates to be sustainable, I think the majority of the student body during their daily lives do
not consider environmental issues; thus, students perspectives on climate change need to be altered.
I selected this topic because I am passionate about reducing climate change and limiting its
devastating effects on our planet; hence, I attempt to spread my knowledge and concerns to
persuade others to work together for an effective solution to mitigate its effects. Not only am I an
Environmental Studies major but also as a Public Health student I am interested in the cross section

however Christianityis not the official religion in America, even though it may be the most popular.
Although 71% of America is Christian, the other 29% is forced to pledge to things they don t

Oklahoma sports teams in her school. After a game they joined in a circle of prayer. She, being

The Importance Of Poverty In Schools
Minorities could be scoring almost 15 points lower then non minority cohorts for multiple reasons,
which includes the following.
Poverty could be considered one of the obvious reasons for this gap in IQ scores for example,
schools in poverty stricken areas could receive less funding and opportunities for more money then
schools in areas that aren t affected by poverty. Less funding means less everything pretty much
that a school needs (books, computers that chance of having good staff to teach these kids).
Without being given some of these tools that schools need to succeed, could greatly affect the kids
in it and obviously will affect their intelligence level at some stage. I have some friends that are
teachers, in the Bronx as well as areas in Westchester like White Plains, etc. They could tell you
first hand there are clear differences in every aspect of a school in the south Bronx in comparison
to a White Plains school district.
To be culturally biased is the phenomenon of interpreting and judging phenomena by standards
inherent to one s own culture. In regards to this specific testing, one would assume that just
because one is a minority and could possibly live in a poverty stricken neighborhood that they
might automatically already be considered to have a low IQ, which is not always the case.
After looking through the WISC IV, there are most certainly aspects of it that could be culturally
biased. For example, the Vocab section can be easily seen as a grey

Examples Of Prejudicial Language In Hip Hop

hip hop: How explicit lyrics can lead a movement Hip hop is a genre of music that has developed
a culture of its own. Artists treat the process of creating a hip hop song as a form of art. The
culture began with breaking in 1925 when Earl Tucker performed at The Cotton Club and his

research would use the natural logarithm of total audit fees, which would be more convenient to
calculate and to compare with other companies and variables. In addition, a plenty of literatures,
such as Zaman et al (2011) and Boo and Sharma (2008) also use natural logarithm to calculate the
total audit fees.
3.2 Independent variables:
3.2.1 Proportion of non executive director (NED):
Non executive directors are independent of management in a firm, they play an important role in
the supervision works. They need to obtain the independent information about the management and
control of the directors in the company, thus they would require the external auditors to provide
the financial information they needed. Peel and Clatworthy (2011) also use the EDBS (ratio of
non executive directors to total directors) as independent variable. The proportion of non executive
director for these 165 firms could be calculated by the number of non executive directors divided
by the total number of directors. Moreover, both of

Physical Contact In Olympic Hockey
Did you know that woman can t check or have any physical contact in olympic hockey! Hi I will
be showing you guys some similarities and differences between NHL hockey and Olympic hockey.
Here is some history about the sport of hockey, hockey is the oldest ball and stick game, it dates
back to 2000 BC in persia, the name hockey comes from the french hocquet or shepards crook
which is a crooked stick used to hit a ball, ice hockey was introduced into the olympics in 1920,
the first all women s team played in the 1998 olympics. Man that was some interesting
background history now we will move on to some events that are different between the two. In
the NHL there is no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd there can only be 1 winner unlike the olympic hockey you
can win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The awards are different too like in the NHL you win MVP(Most
valuable player), Stanley Cup, and the Conn Smythe Trophy, the player awarded for the conn
smythe trophy is the most valuable player for the season. There are 21 total trophies players can
get awarded arranging from MVP to the National cup. Did you know that Canada has won 8 gold
medals and is the current holder for most hockey medals in the olympics. Now i will be telling you
the differences in the rules ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also both ice rinks are different, the NHL rinks are 200 feet long and 85 feet wide, but olympic
rinks are 210 feet long and 98 feet wide. In the NHL teams can dress 18 players and 1 goalie on the
ice, but in the Olympics you can have 2 goalies on ice and dress 20 players, another weird rules
are goalies can t play the puck behind the net, if they do they will get a 2 minute minor for
goaltender infraction, but in the olympics goalies can play the puck behind the net. Now we will
move on to some famous olympic

Andromache In EuripidesTiger At The Gates
Andromache vengefully curses Helen, calling her an evil incarnate, a curse on both barbarians
and Greeks and one whose beautiful eyes brought ugly destruction to the noble fields of Phrygia
(Euripides. TTW.781 783). As a female, soon to be slave of Greek enemy forces, she knows she
can do no more than curse; at this point in the time, she must accept a fate of servitude or death.
The word Andromache stems from бјЂОЅО®ПЃ,man, and ОјО¬П‡ОїОјО±О№, to battle or
dispute (Liddell).
Her characteristics and actions in Tiger at the Gates appropriately reflect the apparent meaning of
her name: one who fights or disputes with a man. In the beginning of the play, pro war and anti
war sides are swiftly drawn in Troy, with the old men rallying for war and women calling for
peace. Andromache is quick to establish her position, along with Hecuba, against war and against
the men. Although she does not lead the anti war argument (it is Hector and Hecuba who do so), she
calmly disputes with Priam in a logical manner, albeit sometimes snarky manner. She
acknowledges Priam s fondness for women and so, asks him to listen to what they have to say.
She follows this by judiciously asking how their country will be made stronger by sending the
vigorous and brave men of Troy to their deaths (Giradoux 21 22). This interaction not only
illustrates her wisdom and moral strength, but her desire for peace above all. She knows all too
well the bitter tragedies and bleak destructions war will bring, as

Orientalism As The Populatio In Pepe Le Moko
According to a paper by Buchowski, Orientalism was originally defined by Edward Said as a set of
discursive practices through which the West structured the imagined East politically, socially,
military, ideologically, scientifically and artistically. (Buchowski abstract) In film Orientalism most
commonly refers to offensively portraying characteristics, customs or qualities of people in the
Orient, an imagined name for the countries in Asia and North Africa. In academic discourse,
Orientalismis a tool used to enforce Eurocentrism, the belief that Western society is the center of the
world. (Shohat and Stam 2) Edward Said claimed that the European representation of these people
is a typical cultural creation that enables those powerful to legitimize their domination over those
subjugated and conquered. (Buchowski abstract)
In accordance with Said s statement, Orientalism marks the ... Show more content on

If the Other is primitive, as the film suggests, and association with the Other causes the Westerner
to become part of the local culture, the Westerner must escape to preserve his identity. Pepe s
suicide was one method of escaping said cultural dissolution, the tainting of his white heritage
through association with the Other. Pepe s extended exposure to Oriental culture justifies his
escape. To maintain that the West is culturally superior to the East, as Orientalism seeks to do,
Pepe must prove that he can conquer the allure of the Arab Casbah. Instead of hiding amongst the
natives and seeking protection from the law, Pepe flees to the port, where he attempts to meet with
Gaby. When his rendezvous fails, and Pepe is brought into custody, his suicide signifies freedom
from the cage of the

Why Whales Lose Their Legs Lab
Why Whales Lost Their Legs
Kiara Rojas
Honors Biology
INTRODUCTION
Millions of years ago, whales had legs. Pakicetus, the first whales, were land animals. Pakicetus
does not resemble the whale at all from the outside but, they share a similar ear region that is unlike
those of any other mammal. This discovery provided evidence that Pakicetus and whales are linked.
The question is, why did whale lose their legs? Simulating a leg with and without legs in different
water temperatures, this lab will help us find out the answer.
HYPOTHESIS

Use ice if you need to. Then, fill one beaker with 175 mL of water and the other with 350 mL.
Warm the water in the 350mL beaker up to 55 degrees celsius and cool the water in the 175mL
beaker to 15 degrees celsius, the same temperature as the pitcher because it will be your control
group. Once the beaker that should be heated is at 55 degrees celsius, pour 175 mL of the water
into a glove and pour the other 175 mL into a ziplock baggie. Pour the 15 degrees celsius, 175
mL of water into another ziplock baggie. Before you set these in water, have a stopwatch ready
and make sure that the water in the baggies and glove is at the right temperature. It is very
important for them to be or else your data will most likely be inaccurate. When everything is set to
go, at the same time, start the stopwatch and put the baggies and glove in the pitcher. To make
things easier, put a thermometer in each of the baggies, in the glove, and in the pitcher because
each minute, you ll be recording the temperature of the water in each item. Make sure that no other
water gets into the baggies or glove so don t let go of them and don t close them because you must
have the thermometer in each item. After 5 minutes, reset everything back to their temperatures
and measurements and you can perform the experiment as many times as you

  • 2. Essay On The Antibacterial Effects Of Microorganisms The main for the purpose of this study was to find out about the tolerance of Listeria monocytogenes towards quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC). The antibacterial effects of disinfectants are crucial for the control of Listeria monocytogenes in food processing environments. Tolerance of L. monocytogenes to sub lethal levels of disinfectantsbased on QAC is conferred by the resistant determinants qacH and bcrABC. The QAC based disinfectants which are in common use in many food industries are found to have strains of qacH and bcrABC which are resistant to QAC. It helps in the growth of these microorganisms with those particular strains (MГёretrГё et al., 2017). In this study, a panel of 680 L.monocytogenes from nine Norwegian meat and ... It is primarily a food borne infection and is particularly a problem on foods that are not cooked, including ready to eat (RTE) meats, smoked fish, soft cheeses, unpasteurised dairy products, and even in fresh produce. Thermal processing if milk and meat may occur but post processing contamination does take place (Tiffany, 2015). L. monocytogenes that occur in food may originate in soils from farms, in slaughtering facilities, in food processing plants and other equipment used in food manufacture. The elimination of this bacteria can be challenging as it forms very resistant biofilms (Oxaran et al., 2017). Bacterial biofilms are defined as surface associated bacterial communities forming micro colonies surrounded by a matrix of exo polymers. Biofilms confer to L. monocytogenes a greater resistance to antimicrobial agents and they allow microorganisms to resist to environmental changes and cleaning/disinfection treatments (Tiffany, 2015). L. monocytogenes possess an ability to establish itself in equipment or production environments and single strains of the microorganisms have been shown to reoccur in production environment over periods of years. The bacteria persist in environmental niches like cracks, inside equipment that are protected from cleaning and disinfection routines (MГёretrГё et al., 2017). The people were afraid to do everyday activities and carry on with their normal routines. This plague is known to almost every person on Earth. Even as a kid, teachers tell their students about this plague. Even the thought of an outbreak like the Black Plague makes people s skin crawl. I am included in that category. It has gotten to the point that when any outbreak of any type or kind of disease happens that the world gets into panic mode. All of this panic comes from the Black Death. The abandon ships peaked a lot of interest and since the ships were infested with rodents, the locals that looted from the ships helped the disease spread even further. By 1348 the disease spread all the way to Genoa and Venice. Then the disease went from Italy and spread northwest France, Spain, Portugal, and England by June 1348. This is a rapid spread rate since six countries in less than a year. Although the disease was not yet done with Europe, it then spread east through Germany and Scandinavia through 1350. The last stop in Europe was Russia in 1351. The last stop for the Black Plague was the Middle East. The outbreak in the Middle East led to serious depopulation and economic structures just like the other countries. When the disease reached Mecca, the people of Mecca tried to blame it on non believers. • 7. Oil Prices And Rise And Fall Of Chinese Economy Essay Falling crude oil prices and rise and fall of Chinese economy Who s afraid of falling crude oil prices? Isn t it something to celebrate from the consumers point of view, especially in the Asian region! The answer is perhaps no . Though the debate over the impact of plunge in crude oil price and its implications will continue for long, nothing can be said with fair amount of certainty as long as its link with the slowdown of Chinese economy. A substantial amount of work is being carried out by the academia and experts on hydrocarbon industry to decide whether China is to be blame for crash in oil price and subsequent crash in stock markets. In an attempt to explain a very complex cobweb of causes and effects, it emerged that the Chinese economic slowdown could result into a very long phase of lower oil price less than $50 per barrel, and even if a correction occurs in early 2017 as many have predicted, it would be short lived. However, it s no secret that oil market does not perform in isolation hence any fresh trouble in the regions producing oil, could push prices further up or down at an unprecedented pace. Let s look at a very bleak scenario. It s the Sunni versus Shiite politics and the rise of extreme fundamentalism with Islamist State, encroaching part of Iraq, Syria and southern Turkey dominated by Kurd minority. His artwork is outstandingly beautiful. He really grasps the real life images and makes it into great artwork. I have not ever really paid attention to art, but his paintings definitely stand out. The realismmovement in French are flourished from around 1840 until the late nineteenth century. It sought to convey a truthful and objective vision of contemporary life. Realism came about after the Revolution of 1848 which overturned the monarchy of Louis Philippe and developed during the second empire under Napoleon III. Society fought for democratic reform. Blood Glucose Level Changes Due Exercise And Serving Size Introduction Our whole project is surrounded around blood glucose level changes due exercise and serving size, so that brings about the question of what is blood glucose? Blood glucose is the sugar that is moved throughout the bloodstream to provide energy to all cells in the body. In simple terms, it is very important biological occurrence that drives the body by giving it the raw energy to power all the body s functions. To test for this occurrence, there are two main methods to test for the levels of blood glucose in the bloodstream. One method is having the blood drawn intravenously, getting blood drawn using a needle, and sending it to a lab to conduct the action. The other method that is much more convenient and less costly is using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The kidneys are quite busy forming about 160 liters of filtrate daily (Powis, 1985, p. 182). This is very important because it is through the liver and kidneys that the nutrients start traveling through the bloodstream, especially glucose, sugar. Glucose is the favored energy fuel for most cells of the body (Silverstein, 1994, p. 28). Glucose is essentially sugar, which is the primitive source of energy for most of living organisms, and humans are no exception. Normally people have the biochemistry within their bodies to regulate their own blood sugar levels. However, this is not the case for some people, unfortunately, due to factors. The hormone insulin, which, helps sugar enter the body cells, is basically inactive in some people, which causes their whole biological system to start to deteriorate(Goodheart, 1990, p. 117). This is known as diabetes. Diabetes can come in two types, i.e type 1 and 2, which are caused by genetics or poor dietary habits. This can cause conditions like hyperglycemia, which is, a blood sugar level that is higher than normal (Goodheart, 1990, p.117). The opposite of this is hypoglycemia, which is, a blood sugar that is lower than normal (Goodheart, 1990, p.117). Research into blood glucose was then extensively done to help out with managing diabetes since there was no cure. This led to the creation of synthetic insulin that diabetics inject themselves to regulate their levels and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was a man of many even self contradictory ways: He was a noted horseman and polo player, a well known champion swordsman, and a competent sailor and sportsman ... an amateur poet... a rough and tough soldier... a thoughtful and sentimental man. Unpredictable in his actions, yet always dependable... outgoing, yet introverted. (Charles M. Province) He was also well known for his controversy and ability to rally the troops. His speech to the third army was given June 5th, 1944 which was the eve of the allied invasion of Europe. It was a chance for Patton to shine as a general. He knew he would have to construct a speech for which listeners and future readers would be struck by his harsh style, while incorporating his unstinting dependence of profanity. But we must not be led to believe that Patton had not carefully rehearsed every word, chosen precisely for its desired persuasive effect. Patton s address to the Third Army repays attentive examination, and, when the problems it is designed to address are identified, its brilliance and influence will become apparent. Yet, raising soldier s moral raises a challenge: should a speech be a formal, incorporating articulate words and sentence structure, or should it be vulgar and rife with profanities? Patton begins the speech by mentioning how much Americans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thomas Jefferson And Martin Luther King Jr. We are all pretty familiar with Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr., both being significant historical figures, fighting for different ideas. During the 1700s , Jefferson was growing up in a rich white environment and privileged to the extent where he is later classified as an American founding father. A very different background compared to the majority of the colonies population at that time and two distinct relations shared between them. Unlike Jefferson, Dr. King was raised by a faithful family and a religious environment while being targeted in a discriminative and racist atmosphere, resembling the expected stereotypical lifestyle of an African Americanmale during the 1900s . Unlike many other African Americans, King achieved the near impossible in getting as far as an education; the pressure in even attending a segregated school was overwhelming for a lot of African American individuals. Since we looked at both very distinct lifestyles, we can probably guess how and where the motives behind Jefferson s Declaration of Independence and Dr. King s I Have A Dream came about. On the other hand, using of the public goods does not make lower the value of the resources whoever uses it. He gives an unusual observations regarding Indian Village which has no clearly defined social domain or institution separate from state authority. The author observed total of forty one villages, and he found out that people in all of the villages share the goods and services very effectively and evenly based on common property rights. The reason why this village could use resources properly is that there are four main institutions; a village council, village standing fund, village guards, and common irrigators; which have their own common property rights. These institutions also have their own rights to do such as council organize the supply of the public goods, or village guards protect crops from livestock etc. Also, all the services in this village except water distribution are financed from the village standing fund. As a result, since these institutions have their own common property rights, they cannot help but have responsibility to protect village properly. Also, this well made common property rights of the village could protect total tragedy of the commons as a result. Furthermore, the author gives another example about grazing in a village. • 21. The Battle Between Christianity And Islam Towards the end of the eleventh century in Western Europe and Eurasia, a range of social, economical and religious influences collectively influenced the sequence of religious wars which we know as the Crusades. Although the series of holy wars against Islam is typically portrayed as the fault of overzealous popes and belligerent kings; the truth behind the clash between Christianity and Islam is far more elaborate. The direct repercussions following two centuries of prolonged warfare afflicted Christendom with the loss of several millions of lives and immense financial expenditure. On the contrary, the Crusadesstimulated the fundamental expansion and the ultimate downfalls of nations in both the Western and Eastern fields. Contrary to popular belief, the Crusades (1095 A.D 1291 A.D) were defensive wars in response to Islamic expansion following Prophet Mohammed s death in the 7th century. It is all too commonly assumed that the Crusades were the vanguard of the Church s self righteousness and prejudice that warped the enlightened Oriental culture with Western antagonism. Although elements of these assumptions are true to some extent; the Crusaders ultimate objective was to defend against the very Muslims who initially prompted their response by conquering Christian lands in the name of Allah. Similar to the Crusaders dogma of war, the Islamists had a warfare doctrine as well. In traditional Islam the world was divided into several spheres known as abodes. Two abodes ... • 23. How The Marine Resource Exploitation Is Essential For... The importance of having access to waterways is essential for early settlement of citizens and for military purposes. This dependent resource provides a more efficient transportation route as well as access to marine resources such as fishing. Fish also became a source of protein diet and economic trade values in both Chinese and Japanese cultures. In this essay, I will be using the Pseudosciaena crocea also known as the Yellow croaker as my example.1 Yellow croaker got their name from the noises that they make during the spawning season.2 I will also be addressing the problem of overfishing and environmental consequences that arise. By analyzing the patterns of ecological transformations within fishing disputes between China and Japan, we can see how marine resource exploitation becomes a motivation to strengthen each perspective s nation state. Japan has one of the longest histories of hunting gatherer societies in East Asia. Dating back to the Jomon, their diets included a board range of plant, animal, and marine foods.3 The remains of the salmon bones show that this fish was exploited from as early as the Incipient phase. Fast forward to the Yayoi period, rice, without a doubt, was the most important crop, but barley, millet, and other cultivated and wild plants were also consumed in large quantities.4 Others such as domesticated pigs and chicken are known from Yayoi contexts but were still unclear whether or not it was used a food resource. • 28. Safety Measures For A System Administrator Introduction There may be some individuals who do not consider the role of system administrator as dangerous. While the role may not possess the types of dangers other jobs have, such as offshore drilling, or refinery work, there are safety measures that must be considered. In addition to safety considerations, a well rounded system administrator must understand the steps necessary for effective troubleshooting. Effective troubleshooting, and safety considerations go hand in hand for system administrators. Safety Measures for System Administrators The term safety is most commonly associated with physical safety. While this is true, system administrators must consider other types of safety measures that include both logical safety, and physical safety. Logical safety is arguably one of the most important factors for a system administrator to consider. Logical safety includes the security of the systems an administrator is responsible for. This type of safety consideration includes well defined access control policies, periodic review of access, and the secure configuration of workstations and servers. When a system administrator ensures these types of controls are in place, the safety and security of company systems has a reasonable level of assurance. In addition, there are actual physical safety measures that must be considered (Frisch, 1995). Safety Measures for Electronics System administrators must work with electronics as a part of their day to day job responsibilities. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of The Six Degrees Of Separation Anything that comes after an original piece of work is just an imitation, however, when changing a piece of work, one may be able to provide new context or emphasize over looked nuances and themes of such work. The film and play Six Degrees of Separation, written John Guare, demonstrates the evolution of a work when adapted to the big screen; themes of an original work and an adaptation may be the same at heart, but the difference in which they are conveyed brings intensity and a different measure of impact with each new retelling. Moreover, this change did not inhibit the film at all provided it kept, if not emphasized, the original themes of the story and thus why I consider it to be a faithful adaptation. Six Degrees of Separation demonstrates not only a faithful adaptation retold in a new way, but also is an example of the power of narrative configuration. Although this story may not have a linear structure in both the play or movie, the narrative configuration still changed the story without loosing it s key components. The movie does present a non chronological retelling, however, it tells the story of the Kittredges parallel to the story of Paul seemingly in a line of action configuration. In the adaption, this is neatly masked by framing the narrative as a story within a story, however, it still keeps the tone and meaning of the play without breaking the fourth wall. Furthermore, this shows the importance of narrative configuration and how it can alter a movie without completely changing the story and how its minor changes influence a stories themes. Although a narrative can be changed when adapted, it does not mean the story will be lost and over all I believe the evolution of Six Degrees of Separation neatly demonstrates this provided that it is faithful to the original story through keeping the same characters, similar dialogue, and key events despite the change of the narrative ... Feeling aggrieved, the US sought the support of other nations in boycotting the games. The US engaged in vigorous campaigns that involved sending emissaries to countries all over the globe to explain to them why it was critical that they boycott the games. The emissaries drew from renowned diplomats and sports personalities such as Muhammad Ali. • 35. Theme Of Anna Karenina The context of the next significant death in the novel decidedly contrasts the death of Nicholas Levin. Anna Karenina, after falling from grace and her elevated social stratum, desperately searches for meaning in her life. She fears that she no longer provides Count Vronsky with any sort of pleasure and constantly seeks to improve herself in order to keep his attention and love focused on her. In a constant state of inadequacy, Anna cannot even sleep without a heavy dose of opium. Anna grows dependent upon the drug, and one night, She poured out her usual dose of opium and thought that she need only drink the whole phial in order to die, it seemed to her so easy and simple that she began thinking with pleasure of how he would suffer, repent, and love her memory when it was too late (Tolstoy 680). Tolstoy foreshadows Anna s demise in this passage. Anna feels that, were she to kill herself, she could finally solicit the attention and love she craves so adamantly. However, on further considering this avenue, All was darkness. Death! she thought. And such terror came upon her (Tolstoy 680). She quickly dismisses this thought, desiring to live her life fully. However, the seeds of something horrible are planted in her mind. Those seeds sprout as Anna continues to trudge through her lackluster life. Anna stumbles upon the train tracks, and, Suddenly remembering the man who had been run over the day she first met Vronsky, she realized what she had to do (Tolstoy 694). Anna ... This movie aired at Global Commons sponsored by the Office of Sustainability at Elon University, specifically their student Eco Reps. The event began at seven o clock on Tuesday, September 19th. This film depicts the devastating effects of human activity in modern society on the environment resulting in global climate change creating extreme weather events such as floods, tornadoes, droughts, and hurricanes. Change in Earth s overall temperature is difficult to conceptualize because its long term effects do not present urgency in most people s minds; consequentially, the film discloses the lack of concern for environmental issues throughout government agencies and most citizens. Even with the recent international industrial pledge to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the objectives are poorly defined and lack the intensity to reverse the damage. Incorporating both the scientific and governmental explanation of climate change, the film illustrates the tremendous positive impact civilian activists can accomplish. For example, the activists are planning the first major climate change march and rallying local citizens behind a common goal to create meaningful change. Following the movie the Eco Reps initiated a discussion session regarding Elon s impact on the environment and specific ways students can alter their habits to make positive change such as recycling, turning off electronics when not in use, and eating less meat. Although most of the students were impressed with the measures Elon incorporates to be sustainable, I think the majority of the student body during their daily lives do not consider environmental issues; thus, students perspectives on climate change need to be altered. I selected this topic because I am passionate about reducing climate change and limiting its devastating effects on our planet; hence, I attempt to spread my knowledge and concerns to persuade others to work together for an effective solution to mitigate its effects. Poverty could be considered one of the obvious reasons for this gap in IQ scores for example, schools in poverty stricken areas could receive less funding and opportunities for more money then schools in areas that aren t affected by poverty. Less funding means less everything pretty much that a school needs (books, computers that chance of having good staff to teach these kids). Without being given some of these tools that schools need to succeed, could greatly affect the kids in it and obviously will affect their intelligence level at some stage. I have some friends that are teachers, in the Bronx as well as areas in Westchester like White Plains, etc. They could tell you first hand there are clear differences in every aspect of a school in the south Bronx in comparison to a White Plains school district. To be culturally biased is the phenomenon of interpreting and judging phenomena by standards inherent to one s own culture. In regards to this specific testing, one would assume that just because one is a minority and could possibly live in a poverty stricken neighborhood that they might automatically already be considered to have a low IQ, which is not always the case. Artists treat the process of creating a hip hop song as a form of art. The culture began with breaking in 1925 when Earl Tucker performed at The Cotton Club and his moves inspired one aspect of hip hop culture. • 45. Andromache In EuripidesTiger At The Gates Andromache vengefully curses Helen, calling her an evil incarnate, a curse on both barbarians and Greeks and one whose beautiful eyes brought ugly destruction to the noble fields of Phrygia (Euripides. TTW.781 783). As a female, soon to be slave of Greek enemy forces, she knows she can do no more than curse; at this point in the time, she must accept a fate of servitude or death. The word Andromache stems from бјЂОЅО®ПЃ,man, and ОјО¬П‡ОїОјО±О№, to battle or dispute (Liddell). Her characteristics and actions in Tiger at the Gates appropriately reflect the apparent meaning of her name: one who fights or disputes with a man. In the beginning of the play, pro war and anti war sides are swiftly drawn in Troy, with the old men rallying for war and women calling for peace. Andromache is quick to establish her position, along with Hecuba, against war and against the men. Although she does not lead the anti war argument (it is Hector and Hecuba who do so), she calmly disputes with Priam in a logical manner, albeit sometimes snarky manner. She acknowledges Priam s fondness for women and so, asks him to listen to what they have to say. She follows this by judiciously asking how their country will be made stronger by sending the vigorous and brave men of Troy to their deaths (Giradoux 21 22). This interaction not only illustrates her wisdom and moral strength, but her desire for peace above all. She knows all too well the bitter tragedies and bleak destructions war will bring, as ... If the Other is primitive, as the film suggests, and association with the Other causes the Westerner to become part of the local culture, the Westerner must escape to preserve his identity. Pepe s suicide was one method of escaping said cultural dissolution, the tainting of his white heritage through association with the Other. Pepe s extended exposure to Oriental culture justifies his escape. To maintain that the West is culturally superior to the East, as Orientalism seeks to do, Pepe must prove that he can conquer the allure of the Arab Casbah. Instead of hiding amongst the natives and seeking protection from the law, Pepe flees to the port, where he attempts to meet with Gaby. When his rendezvous fails, and Pepe is brought into custody, his suicide signifies freedom from the cage of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you set these in water, have a stopwatch ready and make sure that the water in the baggies and glove is at the right temperature. It is very important for them to be or else your data will most likely be inaccurate. When everything is set to go, at the same time, start the stopwatch and put the baggies and glove in the pitcher. To make things easier, put a thermometer in each of the baggies, in the glove, and in the pitcher because each minute, you ll be recording the temperature of the water in each item. Make sure that no other water gets into the baggies or glove so don t let go of them and don t close them because you must have the thermometer in each item.
