Social Hierarchy In High School
Social Hierarchy Of High School High School can be the perfect place for you; you can find right
where you click. That s where the High School social hierarchy comes into play. People can mostly be
put into certain personality categories, but some people can jump from one group to another. These
categories are as follows: The jokers, the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets), the backgrounders, the
friendlies, the suppliers, the losers(the name for the losers will be explained in their paragraph.), the
nerds, and then cools. These categories do not define whom you can hang out with. First up is the
jokers. These are the kids who always somehow manage to make everything into a joke and always
try to get the teacher off track when in class. The jokers are almost always getting into some kind of
trouble, for they never know when to stop joking or playing. These kids are almost always in
detention, suspended, or late for class. They are the absolute polar opposite of the snitches(AKA the
teacher s pets). Jokers are never be caught dead sucking up to a teacher just to be in their good graces.
Next is the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets); they are never in trouble. These kids despise getting in
trouble and having to go to detention. They are never late to class, and always have their work done as
soon as possible(they never leave work until the last minute unless absolutely necessary).
Snitches(AKA the teacher s pets) hate the bad or troubled kids. They think they are no good,

Why Is The Dead Sea Scrolls Important To Humankind
The finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls was very significant to all of humankind. It is important because it
shows tangible evidence that God s Word is real and everlasting. This can show non believers of the
incredible holy and historic events throughout history. Also, it affects those who are already followers
of God. They can now look at and know the presence of God is with us today even more. Therefore
the Dead Sea Scrolls are very significant to all of humankind. The finding of the scrolls is very
important to the area around the Dead Sea. They are important to that area because although that area
has been through turmoil for a very long time the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls shows the citizens in
that area that God is still with

Role Of Merit In Buddhism
This week s readings are focused on how Buddhist monasteries in China and India play an important
role in producing merit. Both Lopez and Gethin explain the differences each region played in
producing merit through devotional practices. Lopez explains in chapter 27, how monasteries in China
implemented acts of merit into their daily practice. In addition Gethin illustrates how monks in India
lived their lives practicing merit. Even though Buddhist monasteries play a significant role in
producing meritorious acts, the lay community is significant. All four assemblies of monks, nuns,
male lay followers and female lay followers played a role in producing merit. Merit plays a significant
role in the Buddhist monasteries. Merit is not signally

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Medical Records
Electronic medical record (EMR) can be defined as an electronic record of health related information
on an individual that can be created, gathered, managed, and consulted by authorized clinicians and
staff within one health care organization. There are two advantages and two issues of EMR in
Malaysian Government Hospital that I will discuss in this paper. The using of EMR in Malaysian
Government Hospital was enabling quick access to patient records for more coordinated and efficient
care. The medical record officer can access the patient information within a short time, and it more
save time if compared with searching the file record of staff at the shelf. Enabling quick access also
referred to the benefit of EMR system that sharing a database system, whereas the medical record

especially for conversion process, the original documents are scanned into a system and then will

illegible, but once the originals are destroyed there is no way to recover the data. So, to overcome this
issue, medical record officer must not too hasty in the destruction of the original documents, they also
should not destroy specific stored information that it is required to preserve. Not only that, they also
should always keep the original document as a backup, and use EMR only for a quick access purpose
rather that concern it as a system that can save a

Contemporary Art And Artistic Practices
Historical Context The Community based Artistic Practices are not a complete novelty in
contemporary art, their rhetoric are being used as strategic tools, to support discourse such as
democracy, equality, social justice among other, from the 1960s on a explicit way. Even less, this
social turn , understood as an ethical shift by artist and critics who focus their attention on the aspect
of social usefulness of the art practices, characterized by an increase of art projects that emphasize
participation, dialogue and community engagement to activate the public sphere attempting to offer
new social models to live together; appear like a leitmotif along the theory and history of art of the

This art´s condition was throwing into crisis with the emergency of avant garde movements from the
late 19th century in Europe, because these movements recognized on this status autonomy of art a lack
of self criticism by art, not only in the art institution in its separation from the praxis of life ; but also
to bourgeois society as a whole. In other words, the avant garde is understood as a form of self
consciousness of artistic field, with a very clear interest to break the art´s autonomy, while separate
form of production, as a necessary condition to redirect the art into life. According to Peter Bürger,
with the reintegration of art into praxis proposes a revolution in the life, which causes a revolution in
the art. As Bürger states, the avant garde movements that sought to break with the bourgeois autonomy
of art and thereby apply a strong self criticism to art institutionally were: the Russian Constructivism,
closely linked with the Revolution of 1917; Dadaism and its negation of art as institution; and the
Surrealism. Nonetheless, after the World War II in the middle of the 20th century, the avant garde
schism became a crisis, failing in its quest to eliminate the division between art and life and its critical
self consciousness about this, which meant its co option by the art institution,

Is English Native Speakers Use A Greater Number Of...
Discussion
The results of the analysis suggest that English native speakers use a greater number of singular self
mention in linguistics research articles than scholars affiliated with Ukrainian universities, who avoid
using them completely and rely on plural forms. This confirms the previous findings that primarily
plural self mention is employed in academic writing in Slavic languages (Vassileva, 1998), and that
academic texts in English by native speakers show the greatest use of singular forms in comparison to
other languages (Flottum, 2005; Molino, 2010; Vassileva, 1998; Wu Zhu, 2014; Yakhontova, 2002;
2006). It can be assumed that, in American academic culture, scholars tend to establish their presence
in the articles and show that research has been carried out exclusively by them and that the method
and interpretations of findings are based on their own judgement. This way they might acknowledge
the fact that although research should be an objective presentation of reality, it is still subjective
because it is interpreted and documented by a researcher. In addition, since Americans are
representatives of an individualistic culture, they might be willing to identify their personal
contributions to the discourse.
In contrast, Ukrainians writing in Ukrainian seem to distance or even remove themselves from the
texts by using impersonal forms and plural self mention. Also, plural self mention is only expressed
through verb inflections, which means that Ukrainians do not

Determination Of Amino Acids From Fruit Juices
Outcome 1
Literature Research
My research topic Determination of the amino acids present in the fruit juices.
What is an amino Acid?
An Amino Acid is a basic organic compound containing both a carboxyl and an amine group
H O N X C
H OH
What makes all amino acids different?
In amino acids, it is the section between the two function groups ( represented by x in the above
diagram ) that makes each amino acid different.
How many are there? What is an essential amino acid?
Scientists have discovered over fifty amino acids but only twenty are used in the body to make
proteins. Nine of this twenty are called essential amino acids which we give ourselves from our food
and the other eleven are made by the body itself.
The 9 Essential amino acids
Phenylalanine
Methionine
Histidine
Tryptophan
Isoleucine
Arginine
Threonine
Lysine
Leucine
What is their function in the body? Amino acids are important in our diet because they have so many
different functions. One of the main uses of amino acids is that they are the building blocks that make
proteins. Proteins are lchains of amino Acids linked together by peptide bonds making up our muscles,
organs, nails, hair and many other necessary part for every living body.
Vitamins and minerals are regulated by amino acids making sure they are performing properly, also
enzymes and hormones that catalyse all chemical reactions in our body are proteins. Most importantly

Progressive Prank Protection Commercial Examples
The two ads I chose were the Nationwide Baby commercial and the Progressive prank protection
commercial. I chose these ads because they show a practical product, that most people use, in an
funny and unrelated way. The nationwide ad shows a man taking care of a baby as if it is a car. This
commercial is used to promote car insurance. The progressive ad shows agents Flo and Jamie
sneaking around in the night pulling off their own version of pranks: fixing mailboxes, replacing
windows, and leaving paper bags with money on doorsteps. This commercial is used to promote home
insurance. Nationwide and Progressive are two well known insurance companies.
The first ad I will talk about is the Nationwide Baby ad. The ad starts off with a man washing his baby
in his driveway the same way one would wash a car (Nationwide). The ad goes on to show car related
situations with a baby like running into a fire hydrant, car repair shop, and in a grocery store parking
lot. The ad shows how Nationwide will protect what s precious to you by making it precious to them.
Therefore, just like a baby is precious and people will do anything to protect their baby, ... Show more

People who own cars would likely watch this ad because they may want to change insurance
companies or to confirm their decision in getting Nationwide. People who may be thinking about
changing their insurance may watch this ad and see a company that really value other peoples
possessions and work with them. This concept can be very persuasive in attracting people who are
looking for a new insurance company. Therefore, if a person is looking for an insurance company that
has good service and truly cares, then the Nationwide Baby ad would be a good start of them choosing
a new insurance company. For people who already are Nationwide customers can be assured that they
are a part of a caring company

How Reiki Changed My Life
Reiki energy has had a profound effect on different areas of my life. For starters, I normally offer
myself a full body reiki session at the end of the day and offer myself mini sessions throughout the
day (or whenever I find myself uneasy and ungrounded). It allows me to center and ground myself in
the Now instead of allowing myself feel trapped by fear. I find that reiki allows me to bring out the
best of me.
I also enjoy offering myself the energy before doing an oracle/tarot reading. I find the readings come
out clearer and sometimes nearly laughable (at least it is how I feel). For example, I was giving myself
a reading with my Zen cards and my question was in regards to my past life. The first card I drew was
past life. This gave ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of which as time passed, developed to be answers I sought for. It just took patience to see the
answers were already there. Reiki was this factor that allowed me to open my eyes to really see. Not in
the physical sense, but from the heart. And because of this, I understand with patience and gratitude, I
was able to manifest and connect with energies around me. The more grateful I was the quicker
manifesting became. Since last year, I began to develop a better understanding of energies and how
they mirror your vibration. Example: A few months ago, I found myself not wanting to be at work
anymore and felt such pain/resistance being there. I realized my relationship with my supervisor had
become tense and in a way it was disheartening since I was not sure what changed in our dynamic. I
placed this question upon the universe and began to send her distant reiki. I used what I learned in
reiki II to clear the office space as well. I focused a lot on my intent to help her and to find gratitude
for working with Girls Inc. of NYC. A few weeks later, she spoke to me about her issues with our
CEO and how she realized we were not the same team anymore. I was surprised she realized it, since
it seemed she did not notice or mind the change. I was able to use reiki to manifest a better
relationship with my supervisor, and was truly grateful that the universe heard me!

Middle Childhood Attachment
The enduring impact of early security of attachment has later challenges of adaptation and adjustment.
(Sroufe et al.2005),found that children in high social risk environments who showed early attachment
insecurity were more prone to symptoms of aggression, depression and general maladjustment than
those children who were secure. (cited in Shmueli Goetz.Y. 2015, 3.0) This shows that behaviour
problems such as; increased aggression and hostility and early attachment insecurity for children who
have experienced stressful life events. Moreover, those behavioural variations in attachment quality
are the foundation for later individual differences in personality. In addition, Erikson (1950) believed

Thesis Statement On Civic Spaces
Hrushita Davey

Masters in Architecture Thesis Proposal
December 2015
Guided by: Professor Jigna Desai
Abstract
My point of departure for this thesis is that in many of our post industrial cities, the civic realm has
increasingly shrunk and the private realm has continuously expanded and civic spaces are arguably
more important today than ever. Most people are found using the unplanned public spaces rather than
the planned public spaces. The issue is approached by focusing on a middle ground between urban
planning and design of individual buildings. The intent is to design an insertion that responds to
specific features of the existing urban structure and the regulatory framework currently in place. Here
the juxtaposition of the old and new becomes the visible passage of time. The re appropriation of old
forms includes what maybe called the neo vernacular as one mode of intellectual justification for
architecture in our times. This proposition is an attempt to demonstrate a continuous interface between
public and private spaces and between access networks and inhabitable spaces.
Keywords: civic spaces, civic realm, public, middle ground, neo vernacular

The impact on civic spaces post liberalization and the consequent globalization has been tremendous.
Today, most of the emerging civic spaces are sadly being designed like commodities. The other very
obvious shift is seen in the aspiration of cities at large to emerge as front runners in the global rat race.
This global ambition unfortunately fails to acknowledge the local. While it may be true that the
Government, both at the central and state level is trying to address and bring amends to the existing
condition (including the regulatory framework) of the civic realm, there is still a long way to go for

children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Time then, is a valuable resource to
furthering the organization s mission. The reach of the organization to all eligible participants is also
critical in the objective to enrich the lives of as many individuals as possible in the chapter s target
population. Understanding the importance of these elements, the consultant team would like to
propose a performance monitoring and process evaluation in order to make a good faith assessment of
MAW GLA s implied and deliberate strategies and practices regarding the Wish Granting process. We
will design an evaluation that ensures MAW GLA is enriching the lives of as many eligible program
participants as possible, assesses if protocols and procedures are streamlined to make the most of the
staffs and volunteers valuable time, and deduces whether the current process offers the most support
possible in achieving the foundation s mission and underlying program theory. We hope to also utilize
these findings to further educate stakeholders about the Wish Granting process as well as to make
useful recommendations on overall process and measuring improvement. Identification of Key
Stakeholders Since many parties are planners, decision makers, implementers, or are affected by the

amount of cash they should hold in their reserve in order to be able to cover the potential loss.
Although the term Value at risk has not been used till the1990s, the origins of its measure lie further
back in time. The arithmetic behind the VaR were developed by Harry Markowitz (1952) in his studies
of effects of asset risk, return, correlation, and diversification on probable investment portfolio returns
which contributed to the modern portfolio theory. In fact, the trigger of the use of VaR came from the
crisis that tormented the financial market and the regulatory responses to these crises. After the great
depression of 1929, the Securities Exchange Act established in 1934 the Security Exchange
Commission (SEC), a federal government agency in charge of regulating stocks and options
exchanges. Since the SEC initially required banks to keep their borrowing below 2000% of their
equity capital, Banks developed risk measures and control devices to ensure that they meet the capital
requirements. In the 1970, the introduction of financial derivatives markets and floating rate
exchanges have significantly increased the volatility, which is the risk, in the financial markets. The
latter was confirmed by the failure in 1995 of Barings, the British investment bank, by the
unauthorized trading in Nikkei (Japan s stock market) financial derivatives (futures and options) by
Nick Leeson, a young trader in Singapore. In 1995, J.P. Morgan Chase made public his data on the

that affect health at various levels by encompassing the biological, environmental, psychological,

involves the development of individual, group, institutional, community, and systemic strategies to

Tata Motors began manufacturing commercial vehicles in 1954 with a 15 year collaboration
agreement with Daimler Benz of Germany.
This partnership has led Tata Motors to not only become India‟s largest automobile company but also
India‟s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer; the world‟s top five manufactures of medium and
heavy trucks and the world‟s second largest medium and heavy bus manufacturer. Having just entered
the passenger vehicles market segment in 1991, Tata
Motors now ranks second in India‟s passenger vehicle market.
Tata has enjoyed the prestige of having developed Tata Ace, India‟s first indigenous light commercial
vehicle; Tata Safari, India‟s first sports utility vehicle; Tata Indica, India‟s first indigenously
manufactured passenger car; and the Nano, the world‟s least expensive car.

A Research Study On Finance And Economics
Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends
jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the
Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not
considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies
to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem
very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute
meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a
quantitative field like finance and economics comes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my
favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to
practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also
instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate
studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this
discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying
those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. The rigorous pure math training spanning 3

Flathead Fish Case Study
The weather was just perfect for the 29 anglers who signed up and took to the Colorado River, in

Setting sail in small and medium sized boats into the aqua colored water, the men and women
competed for monetary prizes, in hopes of receiving a good catch on last Saturday.
As a series of competitive fishing around Southern California, people came from the San Diego, La

Said to be equally good in the Colorado River, the two categories for competing was Channel and

According to Cunningham s log book, the largest catch of the year was a 40.9 pounder in Imperial

At the last event in October, we will crown the flathead king and the channel king, Cunningham said.

The Objectification Of Women By Kenneth Clark
For centuries, the objectification of women has become the norm, forever portraying them as
submissive and passive for the benefit of the male gaze. Eternally capsulated in a world, perfected,
unanimously the viewer and viewed alike. Jenny Saville defies expectations in creating the female
nude with herself as both subject and painter. Taking on the roles given to women by men and making
them her own, Saville elevates the status of women by making them their own judge of beauty.
Kenneth Clark, a renowned art historian of his time, believed to create a form of art, the nude must be
reformed and not directly recorded from life. In doing so, scouring away all evidence of the woman
before the painting, before being perfected.

To achieve this, the body must be abstracted, becoming a process of designing the ideal figure through
mutating and etching away any flaws of the sitter. [The nude is] a balance, prosperous, and confident
body: the body reformed (1956:3) conveying that a woman must be scoured of all imperfections to be
confident in her own right. However, Saville contradicts this by almost aggressively painting her
flaws, baring herself to all and reviling in her own nakedness. Proving further the empowerment, a
woman can feel upon taking control of how others perceive her. Yet, Saville s pride in her state of
nakedness is condemned to vanity, not allowing her to feel entitled to the entity of her body. Berger
agrees, calling out men for their hypocrisy in moulding women to view themselves being viewed all to
justify the creation of the female nude. Morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you have
depicted for your own pleasure (1972:51), Berger calls into question the male gaze and the liberties
men have taken in portraying women nude, only for them to be shamed in their nakedness. Setting
into motion the trend that women are to be ashamed of their body without clothes. Clark further
creates insecurities, conveying to women that to be naked is to be deprived of clothes...embarrassment

Masculinity In In Bad Neighbours
Media, especially Hollywood Film, has been one of the foremost vehicles for the perpetuation of
masculine hegemony, not only in the West, but the world over. Much of our behavioural cues are taken
from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central in
attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree these
desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via the
screen. The concept of what is masculine is not cut and dried, but Hollywood has had a way of

Show Boat Scene Analysis
To be sure, sound summons our attention to the spatial and temporal dimensions of a scene by putting
us in the point of view to it. The audio in films completes what our eyes expect to see. In fact, sound
brings the scene together because, without the audio, our minds could not reasonably finish the scene.
This particular art form began in 1927, when a Universal employee, Jack Foley helped turn the film
studios silent film Show Boat into a musical. Because the microphones only picked up the dialogue,
Foley added the sounds later. First, he projected the film onto a screen and recorded the movement,

just attracted my attention. The songs in this album showed a different side of Dylan, a happier side.
When looking at this album I looked at the genre, physical elements, specific songs, and the overall
description of the album. The genre of the album is said to be country; however, I get the feel of
multiple types of genres. Such as, folk and jazz as well as country. He definitely has some songs on
this album are more country than other. One More Night in my opinion is more country sounding than
Lay Lady Lay and I think that is because in One More Night he has more of a twang when singing;
rather than, in Lay Lady Lay he is making a more jazzy sound with his voice. Also he adds more
instruments to make the sounds change that he did not have in One More Night. I assume that Dylan
wanted some songs to sound a different way for a purpose. The album over all is considered to be
country, but I hear multiple genres added in. Physical elements of this album are the images he
creates, the linear notes he uses, and images/ text he uses to create the mood for the album. I noticed
that overall in this song he sings a lot about different women and his feelings for each of

Descriptive Essay About The Cafe
The cafe is a short jaunt from our apartment, a splendid notion to someone who would rather spend
the entire day hiding in her bedroom. Adorned in our jeans, thick hoodies and jackets, we braved the
frigid weather. As soon as we departed from the building, Alice deemed it necessary to add restraints
by the use of her arm linked within mine. As we enter the cafe, the clatter of dishes and a low din of
chatter penetrates my ears, while the scent of pastries mingled with fried food imbues my nostrils. The
warm air saturates my clothing, filling me with gratitude to be out of the cold. Beside me, Alice
flattens her windswept hair as she searches for a free table. A smug smile caresses my lips. Before we
left, I tied my hair back in a messy bun to prevent the menacing wind from ravaging my hair. As I
scrutinise the cafe, I observe patrons occupy each of the cream leathered booths. As my gaze drifts
over to the counter, no stools are available to us. A glimmer of hope materialises. What a shame, we ll
have to go home where I can return to my solitude. However, Alice obliterates that hope the moment
she says, There s a free table at the back. Come on. We slide along opposite benches beside the wide
window that allows the grey sky to filter in. After shedding from my jacket, I rest my hands on the
stainless steel table and interlock my fingers, and observe Alice as she continues to tackle with her
matted hair. Though bumpy, she did manage to tame it enough to tie back into a

Foucault s essay tended to dismiss the author from his position with respect to analyse the texts while
Barthes granted all the interpretative responsibly to the reader. Both theorists apprehended the notion
of author has no authority in directing the interpretation of their writings. Foucault, in his essay What
Is an Author? argues that the critics should not evaluate the text in relation with its author, instead,
they should analyse the text itself in the light of the its structure, basic form and its design
architecture. His brief description of author is just a discursive person. Foucault commented on
himself in his essay for being focused on a specific subject, he justifies that it is not because they were
interesting to him but because the subject may have something to do his personal life. He affirms that
his experience with the things that surround him would help him better recognize or understand them
when he does any theoretical work (Mills, 11). Foucault interlinks author and work , in way that
author s text is counted as his work thus he argues that if author is

Introduction Pam and Susan s is a discount department store that currently has 250 chain stores
located throughout the South. To sustain its recent continuous expansion into the Border States and
Southwest, identification of the sites for new stores has become an essential factor of its increasing
strategic planning. The current store decisions are based on the traditional process of estimating sales
potential with demographic analyses, site visits and studies by the company s real estate department. A
subjective approach was developed to classify the potential sites to the competitive type of the trading
zone. However, there are ongoing concerns regarding the subjectivity of the competitive type
classifications, and whether this method can predict sales potentials at new sites. The goal of this
project is to build a multiple regression model based on the census data obtained from stores trading
zones and individual stores, to effectively predict sales potentials at new sites. Data The gathered data
contains demographics and economics of the trading zones, and size, composition and sales of the
store. There is a total of 13 major categories of variables including population (%black, % Spanish

Social Norms
This paper will give a definition of deviance by analyzing the varying types and definition of
deviance. Violations of social norms is key to defining deviance. There are three key features within
social norms: time, place, and situation, that come together to establish deviance. The relativity of the
all of those events combined into one along with who is perceiving the act is what defines deviance
Social Norm are informal rules that help govern a society. Norms differ from place, time period, and
situations. When norms are violated and witnessed the offender, the one who broke the norm, is then
put in to one of two punishment categories. Primary deviance is occurs when the offender breaks a
lesser norm and is only slightly punished, it does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Criminal deviance is when a person becomes a deviant by disobeying the laws. Criminal deviance is
easy to define because even though laws change from time, place, and situation they are written down
and have already been agreed upon. Social deviance is much more difficult to define due to the
informal nature of social norms. A person can be either non deviant, a criminal deviant, a social
deviant, or bother a criminal and social deviant. Obey the speed limit can show all four these deviants.
On highways in America the left lane is referred to as the fast lane and the right hand lane as the slow
lane . A person going the maximum speed limit in the right hand lane is breaking neither laws nor
social norms. A person going ten miles an hour(mph) under the speed limit in the right lane, assuming
they are not slowing down to turn, is breaking the social norm of not going at least the speed limit, and
is therefore a social deviant. They are not breaking any laws, however. A person going five to ten mph
over the speed limit in the left hand lane is following the social norm. Since the person is going over
the speed limit they are now considered a criminal deviant. A person who is driving 50 mph regardless
of what lane they are is breaking both social norms and criminal laws, which makes them both a social
and criminal

Analysis of A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor
In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard To Find, one is struck by the unexpected violence at the
end of the story. However, if you re read the story a second time, you will see definite signs that
foreshadow the grotesque ending. The story begins with the typical nuclear family being challenged
by the grandmother who doesn t want to take the vacation to Florida. She has read about a crazed
killer by the name of the Misfit who is on the run heading for Florida. Unfortunately, she is ignored by
every member of the family except for the little girl, June Star, who can read the grandmother like an
open book. The fact that she admonishes Bailey, her son, of this Misfit ... Show more content on

A strong foreshadowing imagery can be read into these lines. Knowing the definite ending of the
story, the grandmother?s elaborate dress symbolizes a preparation for her coffin. When a person dies,
they usually are dressed in their best outfit, just like the grandmother was dressed in what seemed to
be her Sunday best. A stronger foreshadowing is when O?Connor states the reason for the
grandmother?s immaculate dress, in case of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway
would know at once that she was a lady. She herself predicts her own death. Unfortunately, she doesn?
t know this yet. Although this is beyond the parameters of this essay, it is interesting that in the
grandmother s mind wearing her best clothes prevent any misgivings about her status as a lady IF she
was to die. But as the Misfit later points out, there never was a body that gave the undertaker a tip.
The grandmother s perceived readiness for death is a stark contrast to her behavior when she
encounters the Misfit; for she shows herself to be the least prepared for death.
As the trip progresses, the children reveal themselves as funny, spoiled brats. O Connor s desire to
illustrate the lost respect for the family and elders among the young is quite apparent in her
illustrations of the children. One evidently notices another foreshadowing image when the family

By then, sugar and consumer items like it had become too important to permit an archaic
protectionism to jeopardize future metropolitan supplies. Sugar surrendered its place as luxury and
rarity and became the first mass produced exotic necessity of a proletarian working class.
#9;Chapter three, the most lengthy chapter entitled quot;Consumption quot;, finishes the discussion,
first introduced in chapter two, of how sugar became less of a symbol of power and more of a
necessity for the common person. In chapter two, however, Mintz described this change by relating it
to the economy. In the third chapter, Mintz describes the change in a manner relating it to societal
values. Sugar s various purposes are described in great length, among which included preservation,
decoration, medicinal use, as well as a spice. Sugar as a sweetener was given much of the credit for
the shift of its use amongst various groups of people. Mintz writes on page 108:
Sugar as a sweetener came to the fore in connection with these other exotic imports – tea, coffee, and
chocolate – of which one, tea, became and has since remained the most important nonalcoholic
beverages in the United Kingdom.

The Revolution of 1688
The Glorious Revolution, also known as the Revolution of 1688, refers to the events of 1688 1689.
These events eventually led to the overthrow of Catholic King James II and the ascension (of William
III and Mary II) to the English throne. These events also produced a significant shift in the
relationship between the monarchy and parliament. This paper will discuss the overthrow of King
James II, the rebellion and revolt and the consequences as well as the global effects of the Revolution
in order to explain the importance of this event in world history. James II, king of England from 1685
1688, inherited a very strong position when he came to power. When James II first came to the throne,
he was not very well liked in the eyes of the people of Great Britain, simply because he was a Roman
Catholic King to an overwhelmingly Protestant nation. Like most politicians, James made promises to
protect the peoples personal beliefs. At the beginning of his reign, James had promised to respect his
subject s rights and liberties and protect the Protestant establishment in the church. Despite these
promises, James decided to advance the Catholic tenets over the protestants. He did this by issuing
dispensations to Catholics including the Test Act of 1673, promoting the public celebration of mass,
forcing the universities to admit Catholics, issued a Declaration of Indulgences and also engaged a
campaign to pack Parliament so that he would be able to establish Catholic tolerance by

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 is a landmark in education reform designed to improve student
achievement and change the culture of America s schools (ED.gov). The new act encourages
accountability and helps abolish inequality in education.
The ultimate goal is to ensure that all students will be proficient in reading and mathematics by 2014
(World News Digest). The National Assessment of Educational Progress tests students periodically to
investigate performance. In 2003, they reported thirty nine percent of white fourth graders, fourteen
percent of Latino students and twelve percent of black students were able to read effectively at grade
level. As supporters say, current shortcomings in the education system justify such a bold approach
(Issues and Controversies). As one of the necessities, states are required to create tests and administer
them annually to students, measuring their adequate yearly progress toward meeting state standards

two years of failing to meet the standards, schools must offer students the opportunity to transfer to a

watched them grow and develop, learning from their teachers, peers, and own experiences. Although
the summer break meant that the children s learning experiences were less regulated and rigorous than
during other times of the year, they still developed socially and cognitively. This allowed me to
observe Vygotsky s theories being used both in play and in a classroom setting. My charges would
learn in the pattern explained by Vygotsky s Zone of Proximal Development. Additionally, they would
often use private speech or defer to a More Knowledgeable Other so as to learn more successfully. ...

The concept, which is quite intertwined with his concept of a More Knowledgeable Other and is
almost synonymous with the term scaffolding, describes the difference between what a child can
accomplish independently and what a child can accomplish with assistance and reinforcement from a

learning and with which they need assistance, and the information they do not know and are, perhaps,
not ready to obtain. Vygotsky sees the Zone of Proximal Development as the area where the most
sensitive instruction or guidance should be given allowing the child to develop skills they will then
use on their own developing higher mental functions. Vygotsky also views interaction with peers as an
effective way of developing skills and strategies

  • 2. Social Hierarchy In High School Social Hierarchy Of High School High School can be the perfect place for you; you can find right where you click. That s where the High School social hierarchy comes into play. People can mostly be put into certain personality categories, but some people can jump from one group to another. These categories are as follows: The jokers, the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets), the backgrounders, the friendlies, the suppliers, the losers(the name for the losers will be explained in their paragraph.), the nerds, and then cools. These categories do not define whom you can hang out with. First up is the jokers. These are the kids who always somehow manage to make everything into a joke and always try to get the teacher off track when in class. The jokers are almost always getting into some kind of trouble, for they never know when to stop joking or playing. These kids are almost always in detention, suspended, or late for class. They are the absolute polar opposite of the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets). Jokers are never be caught dead sucking up to a teacher just to be in their good graces. Next is the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets); they are never in trouble. These kids despise getting in trouble and having to go to detention. They are never late to class, and always have their work done as soon as possible(they never leave work until the last minute unless absolutely necessary). Snitches(AKA the teacher s pets) hate the bad or troubled kids. They think they are no good, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is important because it shows tangible evidence that God s Word is real and everlasting. This can show non believers of the incredible holy and historic events throughout history. Also, it affects those who are already followers of God. They can now look at and know the presence of God is with us today even more. Therefore the Dead Sea Scrolls are very significant to all of humankind. The finding of the scrolls is very important to the area around the Dead Sea. They are important to that area because although that area has been through turmoil for a very long time the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls shows the citizens in that area that God is still with ... • 4. Role Of Merit In Buddhism This week s readings are focused on how Buddhist monasteries in China and India play an important role in producing merit. Both Lopez and Gethin explain the differences each region played in producing merit through devotional practices. Lopez explains in chapter 27, how monasteries in China implemented acts of merit into their daily practice. In addition Gethin illustrates how monks in India lived their lives practicing merit. Even though Buddhist monasteries play a significant role in producing meritorious acts, the lay community is significant. All four assemblies of monks, nuns, male lay followers and female lay followers played a role in producing merit. Merit plays a significant role in the Buddhist monasteries. Merit is not signally ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Medical Records Electronic medical record (EMR) can be defined as an electronic record of health related information on an individual that can be created, gathered, managed, and consulted by authorized clinicians and staff within one health care organization. There are two advantages and two issues of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital that I will discuss in this paper. The using of EMR in Malaysian Government Hospital was enabling quick access to patient records for more coordinated and efficient care. The medical record officer can access the patient information within a short time, and it more save time if compared with searching the file record of staff at the shelf. Moreover, usually using EMR especially for conversion process, the original documents are scanned into a system and then will shred or destroyed, these process might give a problem because some paper documentation is illegible, but once the originals are destroyed there is no way to recover the data. So, to overcome this issue, medical record officer must not too hasty in the destruction of the original documents, they also should not destroy specific stored information that it is required to preserve. Not only that, they also should always keep the original document as a backup, and use EMR only for a quick access purpose rather that concern it as a system that can save a ... Even less, this social turn , understood as an ethical shift by artist and critics who focus their attention on the aspect of social usefulness of the art practices, characterized by an increase of art projects that emphasize participation, dialogue and community engagement to activate the public sphere attempting to offer new social models to live together; appear like a leitmotif along the theory and history of art of the 20th century. This art´s condition was throwing into crisis with the emergency of avant garde movements from the late 19th century in Europe, because these movements recognized on this status autonomy of art a lack of self criticism by art, not only in the art institution in its separation from the praxis of life ; but also to bourgeois society as a whole. In other words, the avant garde is understood as a form of self consciousness of artistic field, with a very clear interest to break the art´s autonomy, while separate form of production, as a necessary condition to redirect the art into life. According to Peter Bürger, with the reintegration of art into praxis proposes a revolution in the life, which causes a revolution in the art. As Bürger states, the avant garde movements that sought to break with the bourgeois autonomy of art and thereby apply a strong self criticism to art institutionally were: the Russian Constructivism, closely linked with the Revolution of 1917; Dadaism and its negation of art as institution; and the Surrealism. Nonetheless, after the World War II in the middle of the 20th century, the avant garde schism became a crisis, failing in its quest to eliminate the division between art and life and its critical self consciousness about this, which meant its co option by the art institution, ... Discussion The results of the analysis suggest that English native speakers use a greater number of singular self mention in linguistics research articles than scholars affiliated with Ukrainian universities, who avoid using them completely and rely on plural forms. This confirms the previous findings that primarily plural self mention is employed in academic writing in Slavic languages (Vassileva, 1998), and that academic texts in English by native speakers show the greatest use of singular forms in comparison to other languages (Flottum, 2005; Molino, 2010; Vassileva, 1998; Wu Zhu, 2014; Yakhontova, 2002; 2006). It can be assumed that, in American academic culture, scholars tend to establish their presence in the articles and show that research has been carried out exclusively by them and that the method and interpretations of findings are based on their own judgement. This way they might acknowledge the fact that although research should be an objective presentation of reality, it is still subjective because it is interpreted and documented by a researcher. In addition, since Americans are representatives of an individualistic culture, they might be willing to identify their personal contributions to the discourse. In contrast, Ukrainians writing in Ukrainian seem to distance or even remove themselves from the texts by using impersonal forms and plural self mention. Also, plural self mention is only expressed through verb inflections, which means that Ukrainians do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Amino Acid is a basic organic compound containing both a carboxyl and an amine group H O N X C H OH What makes all amino acids different? In amino acids, it is the section between the two function groups ( represented by x in the above diagram ) that makes each amino acid different. How many are there? What is an essential amino acid? Scientists have discovered over fifty amino acids but only twenty are used in the body to make proteins. Nine of this twenty are called essential amino acids which we give ourselves from our food and the other eleven are made by the body itself. I chose these ads because they show a practical product, that most people use, in an funny and unrelated way. The nationwide ad shows a man taking care of a baby as if it is a car. This commercial is used to promote car insurance. The progressive ad shows agents Flo and Jamie sneaking around in the night pulling off their own version of pranks: fixing mailboxes, replacing windows, and leaving paper bags with money on doorsteps. This commercial is used to promote home insurance. Nationwide and Progressive are two well known insurance companies. The first ad I will talk about is the Nationwide Baby ad. The ad starts off with a man washing his baby in his driveway the same way one would wash a car (Nationwide). The ad goes on to show car related situations with a baby like running into a fire hydrant, car repair shop, and in a grocery store parking lot. The ad shows how Nationwide will protect what s precious to you by making it precious to them. Therefore, just like a baby is precious and people will do anything to protect their baby, ... For starters, I normally offer myself a full body reiki session at the end of the day and offer myself mini sessions throughout the day (or whenever I find myself uneasy and ungrounded). It allows me to center and ground myself in the Now instead of allowing myself feel trapped by fear. I find that reiki allows me to bring out the best of me. I also enjoy offering myself the energy before doing an oracle/tarot reading. I find the readings come out clearer and sometimes nearly laughable (at least it is how I feel). I realized my relationship with my supervisor had become tense and in a way it was disheartening since I was not sure what changed in our dynamic. I placed this question upon the universe and began to send her distant reiki. I used what I learned in reiki II to clear the office space as well. I focused a lot on my intent to help her and to find gratitude for working with Girls Inc. of NYC. A few weeks later, she spoke to me about her issues with our CEO and how she realized we were not the same team anymore. • 13. Thesis Statement On Civic Spaces Hrushita Davey PA101614 Masters in Architecture Thesis Proposal December 2015 Guided by: Professor Jigna Desai Abstract My point of departure for this thesis is that in many of our post industrial cities, the civic realm has increasingly shrunk and the private realm has continuously expanded and civic spaces are arguably more important today than ever. Most people are found using the unplanned public spaces rather than the planned public spaces. The issue is approached by focusing on a middle ground between urban planning and design of individual buildings. The intent is to design an insertion that responds to specific features of the existing urban structure and the regulatory framework currently in place. Here the juxtaposition of the old and new becomes the visible passage of time. The re appropriation of old forms includes what maybe called the neo vernacular as one mode of intellectual justification for architecture in our times. This proposition is an attempt to demonstrate a continuous interface between public and private spaces and between access networks and inhabitable spaces. Although the term Value at risk has not been used till the1990s, the origins of its measure lie further back in time. The arithmetic behind the VaR were developed by Harry Markowitz (1952) in his studies of effects of asset risk, return, correlation, and diversification on probable investment portfolio returns which contributed to the modern portfolio theory. In fact, the trigger of the use of VaR came from the crisis that tormented the financial market and the regulatory responses to these crises. After the great depression of 1929, the Securities Exchange Act established in 1934 the Security Exchange Commission (SEC), a federal government agency in charge of regulating stocks and options exchanges. Since the SEC initially required banks to keep their borrowing below 2000% of their equity capital, Banks developed risk measures and control devices to ensure that they meet the capital requirements. In the 1970, the introduction of financial derivatives markets and floating rate exchanges have significantly increased the volatility, which is the risk, in the financial markets. The latter was confirmed by the failure in 1995 of Barings, the British investment bank, by the unauthorized trading in Nikkei (Japan s stock market) financial derivatives (futures and options) by Nick Leeson, a young trader in Singapore. [The nude is] a balance, prosperous, and confident body: the body reformed (1956:3) conveying that a woman must be scoured of all imperfections to be confident in her own right. However, Saville contradicts this by almost aggressively painting her flaws, baring herself to all and reviling in her own nakedness. Proving further the empowerment, a woman can feel upon taking control of how others perceive her. Yet, Saville s pride in her state of nakedness is condemned to vanity, not allowing her to feel entitled to the entity of her body. To sustain its recent continuous expansion into the Border States and Southwest, identification of the sites for new stores has become an essential factor of its increasing strategic planning. The current store decisions are based on the traditional process of estimating sales potential with demographic analyses, site visits and studies by the company s real estate department. A subjective approach was developed to classify the potential sites to the competitive type of the trading zone. However, there are ongoing concerns regarding the subjectivity of the competitive type classifications, and whether this method can predict sales potentials at new sites. • 30. The United States Army As A State Of Decline The United States Army is in a state of decline. The Army s senior leaders are either oblivious to the decline or only care about the popular issues such as sexual harassment or hazing. Today s junior leaders are either incompetent, feel their hands are tied, or simply do not get the backing from their senior leaders in order to effectively make changes. Our senior leaders blame their junior leaders, and our junior leaders blame their senior leaders. The fact of the matter is that all leaders, from the Chief of Staff of the Army to newest Corporal that was recently promoted this month, have to lead. 1 Introduction 19 August 2003. That was the date on which I joined the military. That was also the year the United States invaded Iraq. I, like many, joined the military to serve my country. I remember arriving at basic training and I felt that I was prepared for the training and punishment I was going to receive. After all, I had watched war movies such as Major Payne, Full Metal Jacket, and Forrest Gump. I honestly believed I would be cleaning floors with a toothbrush, living in an open hut with fifty other soldiers, and being yelled at constantly. What I experienced in my opinion, was an easy basic training. Do what you re told and be where you needed to be and you would be fine. After basic training, I remember arriving to my unit and standing at parade rest for Specialists and above. I remember doing what I was told, no questions asked. I remember ... One of Orwell s goals in writing Animal Farm was to illustrate the Russian Revolution of 1917 as one that resulted in a government more oppressive, totalitarian, and deadly. There are three key features within social norms: time, place, and situation, that come together to establish deviance. The relativity of the all of those events combined into one along with who is perceiving the act is what defines deviance Social Norm are informal rules that help govern a society. Criminal deviance is when a person becomes a deviant by disobeying the laws. Criminal deviance is easy to define because even though laws change from time, place, and situation they are written down and have already been agreed upon. Social deviance is much more difficult to define due to the informal nature of social norms. A person can be either non deviant, a criminal deviant, a social deviant, or bother a criminal and social deviant. Obey the speed limit can show all four these deviants. On highways in America the left lane is referred to as the fast lane and the right hand lane as the slow lane . A person going the maximum speed limit in the right hand lane is breaking neither laws nor social norms. A person going ten miles an hour(mph) under the speed limit in the right lane, assuming they are not slowing down to turn, is breaking the social norm of not going at least the speed limit, and is therefore a social deviant. They are not breaking any laws, however. A person going five to ten mph over the speed limit in the left hand lane is following the social norm. Analysis of A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard To Find, one is struck by the unexpected violence at the end of the story. However, if you re read the story a second time, you will see definite signs that foreshadow the grotesque ending. The story begins with the typical nuclear family being challenged by the grandmother who doesn t want to take the vacation to Florida. She has read about a crazed killer by the name of the Misfit who is on the run heading for Florida. Unfortunately, she is ignored by every member of the family except for the little girl, June Star, who can read the grandmother like an open book. The fact that she admonishes Bailey, her son, of this Misfit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A strong foreshadowing imagery can be read into these lines. Knowing the definite ending of the story, the grandmother?s elaborate dress symbolizes a preparation for her coffin. When a person dies, they usually are dressed in their best outfit, just like the grandmother was dressed in what seemed to be her Sunday best. A stronger foreshadowing is when O?Connor states the reason for the grandmother?s immaculate dress, in case of an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady. She herself predicts her own death. Unfortunately, she doesn? t know this yet. Although this is beyond the parameters of this essay, it is interesting that in the grandmother s mind wearing her best clothes prevent any misgivings about her status as a lady IF she was to die. But as the Misfit later points out, there never was a body that gave the undertaker a tip. The grandmother s perceived readiness for death is a stark contrast to her behavior when she encounters the Misfit; for she shows herself to be the least prepared for death. As the trip progresses, the children reveal themselves as funny, spoiled brats. O Connor s desire to illustrate the lost respect for the family and elders among the young is quite apparent in her illustrations of the children. These events eventually led to the overthrow of Catholic King James II and the ascension (of William III and Mary II) to the English throne. These events also produced a significant shift in the relationship between the monarchy and parliament. This paper will discuss the overthrow of King James II, the rebellion and revolt and the consequences as well as the global effects of the Revolution in order to explain the importance of this event in world history. James II, king of England from 1685 1688, inherited a very strong position when he came to power. When James II first came to the throne, he was not very well liked in the eyes of the people of Great Britain, simply because he was a Roman Catholic King to an overwhelmingly Protestant nation. Like most politicians, James made promises to protect the peoples personal beliefs. At the beginning of his reign, James had promised to respect his subject s rights and liberties and protect the Protestant establishment in the church. Despite these promises, James decided to advance the Catholic tenets over the protestants. He did this by issuing dispensations to Catholics including the Test Act of 1673, promoting the public celebration of mass, forcing the universities to admit Catholics, issued a Declaration of Indulgences and also engaged a campaign to pack Parliament so that he would be able to establish Catholic tolerance by ...
