The document discusses privacy issues related to social networks, both within the network itself and with outside access to user data. It proposes using attribute-based encryption to encrypt user data inside the social network, allowing fine-grained access controls. For privacy outside the network, it suggests using identity management concepts like anonymous credentials and zero-knowledge proofs to allow users to authenticate to external sites without revealing private information. The goal is to solve privacy issues both inside and outside of social networks.

Today piracy is one of the most important issues that the owners of multimedia contents are facing now. So
it becomes necessary to protect the copyright of digital media. The new technology proposed to solve the “problem”
of enforcing the copyright of content transmitted across shared networks is Invisible Digital Watermark. It is a
technique of steganography that allow a copyright holder to insert a hidden message (invisible watermark) within
images, sound files, moving pictures and even raw text. To watermark a video it is divided into frames then extract
each bit of a frame and modify it with reference to original RGB value to embed a watermark in it. The location of
the embedded text is maintained as a key file and the frames are integrated as a video again. The slight changes in
RGB value scattered across the frame makes it impossible to visibly detect the difference when compared to original
video. To detect the piracy of video using the key file the copyright information is extracted from the watermarked
data. From the copyright information it is possible to find the source of piracy and thus necessary action can be
taken.

Digital watermarking provides authentication, validation and copyright protection for multimedia contents over the internet. Text is the most widely used means of communication in addition to image, audio and video. So it needs to be protected. Text watermarking techniques that have been developed in past protects the text from illegal copying, imitation, and prevents copyright violations. In this paper, we have proposed an algorithm that ensures the integrity and confidentiality of the document. In this technique watermark is created based on the contents of the document and embeds it without changing the contents of the document and also encrypts the text to provide confidentiality. To authenticate and prove the integrity of the document the watermark can be easily extracted and verified for tampering.

An Approach for Securing Voice Communication via Image Watermarking TechniqueCSCJournals
Nowadays, Internet users use many social websites for communication with each other, and some of the users may live in another part of the world. Thus, communication becomes much easier and faster. However, with internet growing and their users, it becomes more likely to be attacked by hackers and intruders to access people personal data. Also, some professional hackers can detect the entire communication component for instance; text, image, video and voice messages.
In this paper, it is focused on one component, which is voice communication; and the main idea of this work is to hide the voice message that generated from one side and convert to a wave data, then to the binary code consequently on the receiver side. Later, the generated code will hide inside an image before reaching the destination. The final step is to reverse the whole security process that has been done in the source side. Therefore it can provide a safe environment for voice communication among the internet client.
A Havoc Proof for Secure and Robust Audio WatermarkingCSCJournals
The audio watermarking involves the concealment of data within a discrete audio file. Audio watermarking technology affords an opportunity to generate copies of a recording which are perceived by listeners as identical to the original but which may differ from one another on the basis of the embedded information. A highly confidential audio watermarking scheme using multiple scrambling is presented Superior to other audio watermarking techniques, the proposed scheme is self-secured by integrating multiple scrambling operations into the embedding stage. To ensure that unauthorized detection without correct secret keys is nearly impossible, the watermark is encrypted by a coded-image; certain frames are randomly selected from the total frames of the audio signal for embedding and their order of coding is further randomized. Adaptive synchronization is improves the robustness against hazardous synchronization attacks, such as random samples cropping/inserting and pitch-invariant time stretching. The efficient watermarking schemes make it impossible to be detected and robust even though the watermarking algorithm is open to the public.
This presentation provides an inside view of how the Social media presence could harm any individual if no proper vigilance is kept while being active on various social platforms.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF E-PASSPORT SCHEME USING CRYPTOGRAPHIC ALGORITHM ...ijait
Advancements in technology have created the possibility of greater assurance of proper travel document ownership, but some concerns regarding security and effectiveness remain unaddressed. Electronic passports have known a wide and fast deployment all around the world since the International Civil
Aviation Organization the world has adopted standards whereby passports can store biometric identifiers. The use of biometrics for identification has the potential to make the lives easier, and the world people live in a safer place. The purpose of biometric passports is to prevent the illegal entry of traveler into a specific
country and limit the use of counterfeit documents by more accurate identification of an individual. This paper analyses the face, fingerprint, palmprint and iris biometric e-passport design. This papers focus on privacy and personal security of bearers of e-passports, the actual security benefit countries obtained by
the introduction of e-passports using face, fingerprint, palmprint and iris recognition systems. Researcher analyzed its main cryptographic features; the face fingerprint, palmprint and iris biometrics currently used with e-passports and considered the surrounding procedures. Researcher focused on vulnerabilities since anyone willing to bypass the system would choose the same approach. On the contrary, solely relying on them may pose a risk that did not exist with previous passports and border controls. The paper also provides a security analysis of the e-passport using face fingerprint, palmprint and iris biometric that are intended to provide improved security in protecting biometric information of the e-passport bearer.

Recognizing the fact usernames passwords are the weakest link in an.docxdanas19
Recognizing the fact usernames passwords are the weakest link in an organization’s security system because username and password are shareable, and most passwords and usernames are vulnerable and ready to be cracked with a variety of methods using adopting a record number of devices and platforms connected to the Internet of Things daily and at an alarming rate.
Provide the all-inclusive and systematic narratives of the impact of physical biometric operations on the current and future generation.
An Integrated Approach of Physical Biometric Authentication System
Objective
Per Fennelly (2017), every human being is created differently with physical and behavioral traits that are unique; and everyone’s fingerprints, iris, facial feature and body types are entirely different from one another. The effective and efficient use of biometric technology will play a key role in automating a new method of identifying living person based on individual physiological and behavioral characteristics. Protecting sensitive information from vulnerable access by unauthorized users is paramount in our digital world and attempting to identify and mitigating such operation is becoming very challenging and troubling to the entire human society.
Biometric authentication-based identity is playing a vital role in security operations. Traditional authentication approach used to identity logon, logout, username, passwords are no longer enough to battle the identity and security crisis. Physical Biometric processes often allow the authentication of an individual personal data to be stored in a document format for future references. The comparison is often used to determine whether the biometric characteristics of individual match the previously information recorded in the document. Physical biometric systems have proven to be very effective in verification and identification processes.
Physical biometric identification and recognition processes are classified in three groupings including acquisition, feature extraction and comparison. Traditionally, biometric characteristics are acquired through measurements, such as a camera, microphone, fingerprint scanner, gathering of specific characteristics and creation of digital representation, photograph, a voice recording and scanned fingerprint. Most naturally significant areas supporting physical biometric process include corners of the eyes, mouth, nose, chin and likely to be identified by human inspection and through an automated biometric process.
Biometric Access Control is a security system used to provides conditional access after scanning for unique physical characteristics including installing Biometric Access at ATM’s and other public facilities to safeguard financial data. Indeed, when faces, fingers, irises and veins are scanned such data are converted into digital format and a complex algorithm is used to make a match. Such physical biometric processes .
Highly Secure Cryptography Algorithm Method to Safeguard Audios and Visualsijcisjournal
Internet hacking has become common now a days and is increasing day by day. It is a high time to safeguard our data. There are several cryptographic methods and algorithms that are evolved and already exist. How about additional protection makes us stress free? In this paper, I present a unique design of cryptographic algorithm which is specifically designed for Auditory cryptography and visual cryptography to make the encryption and decryption technique stronger. The purpose is to make it very difficult to decode the file when an unauthorized user accesses the data. This algorithm is a combination of multiple techniques such as Ant Algorithm, Logical Gates Technique, Dual authorization PINs, Indexed Arrays. Combination of these techniques makes the algorithm unique and strong to secure the data. This research was implemented on audio files, images and video files. The study of the result shows effective way of masking the data as it is hard to decode without PINs. Also, performance of the algorithm is efficient during encryption and decryption process.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Privacy inside the social network CARTES & IDentification
Review of academic solutions Antoine Fressancourt
Mainly two families of approaches:
▶ « add-in » applications
– FlyByNight: Re-Encryption proxy, El Gamal encryption, AES
– NOYB: Replace each attribute of a given user by an attribute of another
member of its social network
– FaceCloak: Dictionnary, MAC
▶ « Privacy by Design » social networks
– Persona: Attribute-Based Encryption
– EASiER: Attribute-Based Encryption
– A Collaborative Framework for Privacy Protection in Online Social
Network: El Gamal
– Cryptographic Treatment of Private User Profiles: Broadcast Encryption

Solving the « inside » privacy issue Antoine Fressancourt
Using a Cypher text Policy Attribute
Based Encryption (CP-ABE) scheme to
(CP ABE)
cypher the data inside the social network
▶ Advantages
– Allows us to d f
ll define privacy policies b

d
on fine grained predicates
– Englobate both Identity-based encryption
and Identity based broadcast encryptions
– Ease of deployment given our objectives
▶ Drawback
– Keys and cypher texts are longer than in
simpler, IBE schemes
– Heavy management of cryptographic keys

What is IBE? CARTES & IDentification
Identity based encryption Antoine Fressancourt
▶ Identity based encryption:
▶ Proposed by Shamir in 1984
▶ Encrypt a message using any
arbitrary string as the key. (Message)bob@mail.com
▶ The string can be a
representation of the user’s
identity
▶ Principle:
▶ Alice encrypt a message with
Bob’s e-mail address
▶ Bob asks a PKG (Private Key Private Key h
Authentication
Generator) to provide a private
key associated to his e-mail
address. PKG

What is ABE? CARTES & IDentification
Attribute based encryption Antoine Fressancourt
▶ Attribute based encryption is a
generalisation of identity AND
based encryption
▶ Encryption according
attributes:
▶ Personal: age, town, name… OR +18 y.o
▶ Relational: colleague, family,
friends, …
▶ Ciphertext-policy ABE:
▶ Cipher text possesses access
structure Colleague France
▶ Saving structures

What is Identity Management? CARTES & IDentification
Antoine Fressancourt
▶ Technologies, policies and
p
practices used to control
access to a resource by a
third party. User
▶ Three entities:
▶ Identity Provider (IdP):
maintains and gives access to
a user’s credentials
▶ S
Service P
i Provider (SP)
id (SP):
Consumes attributes provided
by an IdP
▶ User: Controls the distribution IdP SP
of its credentials by the IdP

To conclude CARTES & IDentification
Antoine Fressancourt
▶ Social networks raise a number of issues related to data security and
privacy
▶ Two kinds of privacy issues
– From inside the social network itself
– From external sites outside the social network
▶ Inside privacy isssues can be solved by using ABE to protect data and
give it access only to authorized contacts
▶ Outside privacy issues can be solved by using identity management
protocols and systems
▶ Overall, better management of data privacy in future social network
services deployed using emerging standards
