How has your research informed the planning of the groups film publicity campaign?
InfluencesReal publicity campaigns have influenced out own planning with various films such as Friday the 13th as the posters that it used were bloody and very striking. This was what we wanted to aim for in our campaign.Another campaign was ‘The Blair Witch Project’. This film used a sense of the unknown and a handheld camera that was mainly used for creating suspense and fear for the audience and firstly it felt like they were in the film and secondly it created a sense of realism.
Research into the horror genreReal publicity campaigns have influenced out own planning with various films such as ‘The Ring’.
‘The Ring’ is a film that is similar to ours because it uses a female young girl as the antagonist.
Another campaign was that of Friday the 13th with Jason’s machete, but we decided to go with an axe to be more original than using a current weapon that is already an icon of horror films.Narrative Strategies Reflected in ConceptLet me in was based with a little child and the film solely focuses around her being a child. This is unusual as the audience normally focuses on the protagonist rather than the antagonist.Ghost stories and supernatural themes were a huge concept for us.We also decided to include elements of gore and shock value in our films to entice the audience with the little girl killing.
Target AudiencesWe have compared our target audience with other films from two styles of horror. We first took the target audience from supernatural horrors like The Grudge, Supernatural Activity and The Ring. We also took some of the target audience from gory and bloody ‘slasher’ films such as Saw and Nightmare on Elm Street
The is because we use small child that is a girl like in The Grudge and The Ring.We also used target audiences from ‘slashers’ because we use a lot of blood and shocking images in our film like Saw does to excite its audience.
