 They should have faith in honesty and integrity.
 Should be truthful in their dealings.
 Should treat members of the public and colleagues with courtesy
and respect.
 Have to act with fairness and impartiality with public and colleagues.
 Their behavior and conduct should reflect the image of the entire
force.
 Avoid favoritism of an individual or group.
 Avoid harassment, victimization or unreasonable
discrimination.
 Any officials shall not commit any act of corruption.
 Shall also rigorously oppose all such acts.
 if any time he should be offered bribe, is required to make an
immediate report of the fact to his senior officer.
 Never use more force than is reasonable.
 A police officer defending himself, or lawfully
enforcing his authority, shall act using minimum
force.
 The degree of force employed shall be regulated
according to the circumstances of each case.
 All attempts to disperse a crowd by warnings,
exhortations, etc., shall be made before it is
declared an unlawful assembly and, as such, ordered
to disperse.
 No police officer may inflict, instigate or tolerate any
act of torture or other cruel, in-human, or
degrading treatment.
 Any police officer is not allowed to invoke superior
orders, on the pretext of a threat to national
security internal political instability or any other
public emergency as a justification of torture or
other cruel, in-human, or degrading treatment or
punishment.
 Should be conscientious and diligent in the
performance of their duties.
 Officers should attend work promptly when roistered
for duty.
 If absent through sickness or
 injury, they should avoid activities likely to retard
their return to duty.
 officers must obey all lawful orders.
 Support their colleagues in the execution of their
lawful duties.
 Oppose any improper behavior, reporting it where
appropriate.
 Information which comes into the possession of the
police should be treated as
 confidential.
 They should ensure protection of the health of persons in their
custody.
 Access to a qualified medical officer is available every where.
 Police officers must obtain and comply with the advice of qualified
medical practitioner.
 The rights & privileges available under the law in respect of persons
taken into custody.

Presentation Role of Law Enforcement in Drug Use Prevention

  • 2.  Law Enforcement is any system by which some members of society act in an organized manner to enforce the law by discovering, deterring/stop, rehabilitating, or punishing people who violate the rules and law & norms governing that society.

  • 21.  They should have faith in honesty and integrity.  Should be truthful in their dealings.  Should treat members of the public and colleagues with courtesy and respect.
  • 22.  Have to act with fairness and impartiality with public and colleagues.  Their behavior and conduct should reflect the image of the entire force.
  • 23.  Avoid favoritism of an individual or group.  Avoid harassment, victimization or unreasonable discrimination.
  • 24.  Any officials shall not commit any act of corruption.  Shall also rigorously oppose all such acts.  if any time he should be offered bribe, is required to make an immediate report of the fact to his senior officer.
  • 25.  Never use more force than is reasonable.  A police officer defending himself, or lawfully enforcing his authority, shall act using minimum force.  The degree of force employed shall be regulated according to the circumstances of each case.  All attempts to disperse a crowd by warnings, exhortations, etc., shall be made before it is declared an unlawful assembly and, as such, ordered to disperse.
  • 26.  No police officer may inflict, instigate or tolerate any act of torture or other cruel, in-human, or degrading treatment.  Any police officer is not allowed to invoke superior orders, on the pretext of a threat to national security internal political instability or any other public emergency as a justification of torture or other cruel, in-human, or degrading treatment or punishment.
  • 27.  Should be conscientious and diligent in the performance of their duties.  Officers should attend work promptly when roistered for duty.  If absent through sickness or  injury, they should avoid activities likely to retard their return to duty.
  • 28.  officers must obey all lawful orders.  Support their colleagues in the execution of their lawful duties.  Oppose any improper behavior, reporting it where appropriate.  Information which comes into the possession of the police should be treated as  confidential.
  • 29.  They should ensure protection of the health of persons in their custody.  Access to a qualified medical officer is available every where.  Police officers must obtain and comply with the advice of qualified medical practitioner.  The rights & privileges available under the law in respect of persons taken into custody.
